An arrogant boy has become the top student in his school. Little does the student body know he achieved this by using his secret ability taking over someone body for 5 seconds to cheat. He enjoys this supremacy in school until he encounters other ability users, and is introduced to the harsh reality of his situation.
Charlotte is an enjoyable story that has more to it than you would think. The first half is your typical action/adventure/school life story that is entertaining enough. I was almost going to pass if off as an average story with not much unique or meaningful about it, that is
...
until about halfway through there is a serious change of pace, which was an honest surprise to me.
Some of events of the latter half are some intriguing and rare moments that most anime simply don't do. The second half really changed my mind on this show, for the better. However, this didn't help the incredibly fast pace of the second half that ended up hurting the story.
Charlotte is a decent watch, with a few great emotional moments, fun powers, and interesting story lines, but also having a many generic premises and characters that will turn many away at first. The story missing its potential and is rather cluttered and inconsistent. This anime could have been a lot better if it was given 26 episode to develop its story rather than 13.
I still recommend giving Charlotte a shot, and personally found some enjoyment myself despite its obvious flaws. I offer that you should try reach episode 7 before dropping it if you want to experience what makes this anime worth it.
