Both shows, in addition to being instant mood-boosters, are clever parodies of the shoujo genre. It's easy to tell how much love went into their productions based on the writing quality alone, and even moreso when paired with the almost universally perfect performances from their casts. Easily two of the funniest anime, if not shows in general, I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

If you're a fan of battle royales, guilty pleasure-level plot twists, and/or large, well-developed casts of characters, you'll probably love Dangan Ronpa or Akuma no Riddle.
