Before we get into the core of the review, let me say that Re:zero surprise me a lot, my first mindset when i'm interested in watching this anime is that this anime is going to be a good but cheesy romance fantasy anime with the main plot center around the relationship between all the female lead with the main protagonist. While there's some elements about that, the main overall plot is deeper than that and there's surprisingly a lot of epic battle in it. Soo, is it live up to the hype ?? I will tell you all about it.
The plot is to be honest,
...
kinda hit and miss, the plot lines consist of something like this, the main character found a mystery or a problem that he has to solve, he failed a couple of times to solve it, and after 2-3 episodes of trying to piece together a solution, by some mysterious power known as the power of determination, friendship, and a lot.. a lot.. of luck, he managed to solves it. Nearly all the plot lines can be solved this way, while the first time he found a mystery or a problem part is really great and thrilling, you will question youself whats up with mystery, why does the problem keep happening and stuff like that, when he finally able to solve it you will think, "Thats it? All this build up for that?". While this "luck" could happen once or twice in an anime plot but when the situation when from "Ohh my god !! Everyone is dead ! Ohh nooo !!!" to "Well, we just solve this without anyone dying, great !" in an episode, its really discouraging in the end. They even did this in the ending, it makes all those build up seems wasted.
The main problem from this anime is that there's a lot of plot holes, from the unexplained villain motive that the anime seems to have forgotten about it after 10 episodes or so to some sinister smile to what it seems to be a "good guy" It is unbelievable. While i do get it that this anime is from Light novel that wasn't finished at the time when this anime is released, but the way they tease it is just annoying. Don't give away too many small plotholes if you cannot answer it in the end. In the end of this anime while i get the answer of some of the main mystery, there still more than 10 plotholes that didn't get answered.
Like i said before, the solution to the problem in the ending is one of the smoothess problem solving so far in this anime, it really makes all that effort to get to that point useless. While i dislike the problem solving, the romance scene ending is golden, to be frank all the romance scene is golden in this anime, its sweet, beautiful, and charming, all of that is thanks to the great character development.
What makes this anime surprisingly stand out from the other is the character development, nearly all the main characters has their own personality and its all beautifully told either from the interaction with the main protagonist or from stories told through flashback, they all has their own goal, motive, and personalites that makes them unique and the personality is not just "She is evil or she is a tsundere." There isn't a truly nice person in this anime and the main protagonist need to prove that he is worthy of someone respect and kindness. It is a shame that the main protagonist character development is hit and miss, on some scene he is really realistic, so realistic that the anime give about 2 episodes with him stressed out because of his power, but again on the other hand he is suddenly brave because the situation demanded to, this inconsistency its what makes me cannot like the main protagonist completely.
The romance is one of the best, nearly all the female lead has a good reason to like the main protagonist and the anime explain it well why they like him, even the conflict is explain well in the end. This anime also has one of the greatest confession scene in the anime that i have ever watched. When i watch the confession scene, its soo beautiful and cute that i want to punch a wall, its that good.
The overall action scene is quite decent, some of it is really epic and cool, like the first battle scene that is really awesome, not the best out there but good enough to make my jaw drop. While the other action scene is decent enough but not that great and epic, its just either ended to quickly or not really great because of one sides outskilled the other. Overall, im quite happy with the action scene. The visual for it is really satisfying to watched also, because of how they didn't afraid of using blood to spice up the battle, its really adds up to the action scene.
While the background art and character design is okay, the music is really great, its really adds up to the whole mood, like when the main protagonist is facing danger or when the romance scene happened, its really help in building up the mood, its successfully guided the audience towards a certain mood and that is the point of the background music.
Soo, is it good ?? I must say yes, its not a masterpiece by any stretch of your imagination. But it is enjoyable enough to satisfied your time. Watch for the character development, the romance and the action scene and you will not be disappointed.

Musaigen no Phantom World is another anime from the great Kyoto Animation, So does the great Kyoto Animation finally made a good anime again with this title ? No. This anime one of the most bland anime i have ever seen, its not bad but there's nothing special at all with this anime.
The story itself is all over the place, i cannot found any main plot that drive the anime along. It just filled with a tiny plot every episodes that didn't really effect other episodes. The worse thing is, they tease a mystery with a device that the main characters found in one of
...
the episodes, but in the end that devices still didn't really make an impact at all in any of the plot.
Every episodes feels like a bullet points in a presentation. Every characters get their own "character development" episodes, a lot of anime do this too but the character usually keep developing even after they get their "character development" episodes. The "character development" episodes its just a way to introduce the personality of the characters to the audience. But in this anime, after they get the "character development" episodes, its like the anime forgot about their personality and they just change them just to fit the situation that the creator wants them to be in. For example, there's a character that is really reclusive suddenly trying to be seductive. It all just feel really unnatural and strange to me.
The action scene is decent, nothing to write home about and not that bad either. A lot of fights ended really quick and not epic at all. The main characters will get defeated once, after that with some luck and a really powerful combo they defeated the enemy, rinse and repeat. Even the ending battle use this formula. In the end, nearly all the fight scene feels a little dull to be watched.
The comedy is hit and miss, even though mostly miss. There's only a few comedy scene that makes me smile, not laugh. Smile. The rest its just a dull and cringe worthy moment for me. There's also some ecchi scene for the first 3 or 4 episodes, after that the anime just go to a totally different direction all together and abandon all the ecchi scene.
The art is decent, the character design and the monster design is good enough and feels like it was made by a AAA production studio. The background music is either really bland or non existent at all, since i honestly can't remember which scene that have background music. The only truly great thing that i can say the voices for Kurumi Kumamakura is really cute.
In the end, Musaigen no Phantom World is a bland anime that didn't really know the direction that they want to go, so they decided to go everywhere and try everything that they can. If they didn't know the direction to go, how can the audience know how to follow it ? Is it worth your time ? No. There's a lot greater anime with similar plot that is better than this anime.

Shirobako is a great and unique anime that tells the story that nobody elses try to made, its about the anime industry itself, how to make anime ? How many people are involve in it ? The intrique and the hectic situations that comes up from making anime. From that description alone, this anime could be the most boring anime or the most interesting anime, and i'm here to tell you that its the most interesting anime that i ever watched.
First thing first, the story isn't like your typical anime story telling, the characters dilemma, problem, happiness its all told from a realistic view point,
...
you can easily relate to the story and the characters because of this. The plot itself when it didn't focus on the characters, it focused on the anime making process, it teaches the viewer how to make anime, what are the roles, the dynamic relations between roles and how all of that is combine to make a team that is capable of making anime. It also told the viewers about the hardship of scheduling, how one failure could destroy the whole schedules, its very mature and i can see from the viewers perspective that this anime is made with love, PA Works (The production company that make this anime) love what they do and love every anime that they are making. Everything about this anime is oozes with love, even though some scene like the driving scene feels out of place because they feel the need to make it exciting at the cost of realistic, its just feels off when been compare to the realistic plot.
The character developments is great for some characters and really bad for some other characters. From the main characters, Miyamori, Ema, Zuka, Misa, and Midori, they all got good development, they all got a really realistic problem that really hits me personally, its about what do they want to do in life, what is their dream, and how can they achieve it. They all grow to appreciate themself and others in the course of the anime. The trip and hardship that they have to face to reach their dream is both really sad and exciting when they finally reached it. I cry with tears of joy when one of them finally reach her dream after soo much hardship and failure.
For some of the other characters though, some of them got 1 or even 2 episodes dedicated to they development as a characters, and some others only got a little bit of development or even none in the course of the anime. What i didn't like but totally understandable is that, its really hard to remember all the characters name since they put like 20 or more characters in the anime, i can't even remember some of the important side characters name because of this. They nearly did it right but putting the name up everytime we see them for the first time in an episode, but after episodes 7 or so they just didn't put the name up again.
The background art and the music is really beautiful and great, its really add to the whole experience as a whole, its one of the most beautiful background art that i ever seen from an anime with actual complex plot. The sound suit everything well, especially for the sad scene. The beautiful background music will makes you feel the scene more. The charaters art itself is pretty cute and cool, the variety on the male characters is really good to looks at. Theres's a fat guy, old guy, cool guy, normal skinny guy, and a lot more variety. But, i know why they decided this because anime viewers like cute girls but all the girls in the anime looks young and cute at the point where i don't know who is older than who most of the time.
Soo.. Is it good ? Yes. It might not been the most fun anime out there, but if you want a unique realistic anime with a deep character development and beautiful art and music. I can even say its an educative anime. You would want to watch this.

Tamako Love Story is a movie sequel of Tamako Market, a comedy slice of life anime made by Kyoto Animation. The story resolve along the love story between Tamako and Ooji as they try to understand their feeling for each others. "Everybody loves somebody" as the official quote say is really the main point of this movie.
I really have to say for a Tamako Market sequel which i don't really like in the first place, this movie is really good ! Even though this is a sequel, i think that you can get the feeling and the relationship between the characters, their quirkiness and their
...
personality just from watching this movie alone.
The plot of this movie is really simple yet very effective at conveying their point. Which is the feeling of first love that a lot of people have, the butterfly in my stomach feeling when someone that you like confess at you, the awkwardness, the shyness, and all those innocent feeling that a lot of us had when we first in love. This movie anime managed to capture all of that perfectly.
The beauty of this movie anime that really makes me like it, its the simplicity of it. Maybe if you really think about the other plot, you would see someone try to face their fear, someone try to move on from an impossible hope, and someone afraid of changes. But apart from that, its just simple story about two person that fell in love.
The comedy in it, well. Its hit and miss, mostly miss. A lot of them didn't managed to make me laugh or smile. But well, Tamako Market is not known to have a comedy that i liked so its understandable for me, at least they didn't make the comedy their main plot at this movie anime. Although i have to say the comedy that they put here is better then the Tamako Market one just because a lot of them feels natural and in place with the plot.
The other things that i really like is the visual, Kyoto Animation managed to make the normal things like a classroom hall looks beautiful and things like shadow from tree looks really pretty. Even though the characters at some scene looks disconnected from the pretty enviroment because of the different style in them. But otherwise, the visual is really good. Kyoto Animation really know how to play with the lighting of their enviroment to makes it pretty. I also really like the camera style that they use at some scene. Like the shaky camera effect, or the jump through frame effect.
The background music is fine, there's nothing wrong or notable in it. It served its purpose to help the viewer connected with a scene. I can say the same thing about the opening and ending song in this movie anime. Even though its ending is good, but thats because of the lovely scene that they give at the end of this movie and not because of the song.
My conclusion for this movie anime is, its really good piece of anime if you like romance in general because this anime captured romance moment really well, you would loved it. But if you the type that didn't like romance anime, you will not get anything good in it.
Positive:
-Simple yet fun and great story.
-Beautiful visual alongside cool camera effect.
-Great ending.
-Didn't need to watch Tamako Market to be able to enjoy this.
Negative:
-A hit and miss comedy.
-Not a lot of content if you didn't like the romance.
-If you watched Tamako Market, there's few plot point that still left hanging.
-Bitter and sweet ending for Midori.

Well, Its a Golden Time to review this anime, soo here is my review on it !
First point that i want to review is the plot. To be honest the plot is not that
good, the ending is good but all other unimportant plot point that lead to that ending is very long and kinda boring. I actually kinda surprise in the first few episodes, the plot really advance very quickly, within 6 episodes the main character already have a girlfriend which usually take about 24 episodes or more to get to that point in your typical romantic comedy anime. But after that point, the plot
...
is just kinda stop there for about 12 episodes before actually advancing again. I get it some of it is kinda important to the character development but there usually nothing going on except all that lovey dovey moment between two lovers. If they make it like maybe 12 episodes, it could be much better anime. For example there is a totally unneeded beach episode and cult episode that really didn't do anything to the main plot except maybe the last 3 minutes in each of that episodes that actually advance the plot in any way. Why would they make 23 minutes of unimportant episodes if what you need is just 3 minutes of that to advance the plot and the character development, i have no idea.
But, although the plot is kinda boring and meh, except the ending maybe.
The character development is very realistic and progressive. Nearly every
character that they introduced us have some realistic personality that i
personally like. The main character for example, Tada Banri. He deal with all his problem in a very human like way. Unlike your typical romantic comedy anime where the main character is a dumb and absolute loser, Tada Banri is brave and smart and that's his main personality. Of course he stressed out and sometimes run away from his problem, but that is just what makes him human, his problem is not small and he deals with it realistically. Other characters is the same too, they all have problem that they have to deal with. Hell, some of them doesn't even solve their problem and just cry and hoping that their problem will go away by itself, just like some of us would do. Soo, the main attraction that makes me like this anime its the very realistic character development that they give me.
The comedy in this anime is not the best out there, but its not the worse either. Like there's a scene where the main character is about to have a romantic intercourse with his lover, and she suddenly want to throw up because she eat too much. Or when Koko is scared by some dude pretending to be a Yakuza member and she just pretends that she is possesed by some ghost and do a funny version scene from exorcism to scare the dude. The comedy gives me a giggle, rarely a full laugh out loud but its nice subtle touch from the comedy aspect, nothing too ecchi or disgusting that turns me off. Just a funny innocent giggle, from the comedy that Golden Time gives me.
Now, the animation !! Nothing to really comment on this because the visual is pretty mediocre, its not bad, but its really far from being good. What i like
about the animation is that the character in this anime change their clothes alot. Like everyday you seen Kaga Koko or the other characters with a completely different clothes, but thats about it really. They try to make Tada banri hometown beautiful, but to my eyes it's just mediocre.
The conclusion is, Golden Time is not the best anime out there and its certainly aren't the worse either. If you can stand the long and useless episodes that fill half of the total episodes that you will watched, you would find a gorgeous and very lifelike character development that you can easily relate to, plus some jokes to keep you entertained.
9.0/10 Great ! :3
