Shounen maid, as you can deduct from the title and the cover photo, is a comedy, slice of life with a little shounen ai on it. If you like shounen ai, you'll love this a lot; if you don't but you like slice of life, it still remains enjoyable as you can look at it as a heartwarming relationship of uncle-nephew rather than them 'being gay'. Also, it does not contain anything extreme (and by extreme you know what I mean) which makes this anime lovable


The story wasn't that new, the plot only works because one of our mc's parents died, his single mom. ... (Also, the mom has that hairstyle similar of dead mom hairstyle!! xD I'll stop... ) Because of that the boy is forced to be in the anime-ish that will mostly never happen in real life situation so the anime would function.

The story did its minor job as the characters are the main focus. They might have the characteristics which are over the top but their personalities have its each own depth. The protagonist, Chihiro, living his everyday life with a complete different environment is often confused and surprised but he knows that he's welcomed and has a place for him to be in. His uncle, Madoka, who volunteered to take care of the boy is the one who's actually being taken care of because of his child-like, aggressive approach on things. Although when the time calls for it, he acts like an adult and he shows how really cares for Chihiro. Madoka's voice acting is great, you can see, in this case hear, how he changes his tone of voice when he has this 'shift' I've mentioned before.
Some minor characters aren't just being archetypes: they have their own problems and they also learn how to deal with them with the help of other people.


It isn't the best of the best but it is enjoyable, even for who doesn't like shounen ai that much for the reason I've said before. This anime doesn't have intricate story line, almost non existent, just to show the development of characters through their everyday lives but the way it is executed is delightful and pleasant to watch. It is not meant for everyone if this kind of anime isn't your cup of tea but everyone can watch it: boys, girls noone cares if this is a shoujo. I just find myself smiling throughout every episode :]

This is going to be a superficial and short review

Story: Shinigami-like characters with magic and humans transforming into weapons. Protagonists go to school to learn the magic then goes for some missions. In the end, main chars (good) fight the villain/s (of course, the bad ones) and ends with good people winning the fight. Yes, pretty generic and predictable. Interesting and likable powers of which some are very cool.

Art: Characters' design even the environment including the sun and moon are easily recognizable because of its original art style; the not the most detailed and cartoonish one. After seeing it once, you won't mistake it from ... another anime. The setting is spooky and Halloween which is actually decent and fits perfectly the anime.

Sound: Great Op and background themes. Forgot how the endings are. The 2nd op is one of those bad at first but gradually becomes pleasant to listen to.

Characters: Average, no great developments, just the usual. Every anime tends to have atleast one character; this anime has like 3-4. This is subjective but I think a lot but not the majority agree with me that the supposed to be ‘funny‘ chars in soul eater like black star and FU***** EXCALIBUR are actually annoying + Maka. Though some who are cool and smart chars compensate for the bad ones .

Overall: It's got ups and downs. I loved some episodes while I absolutely hate the others that I consider so bad that I ask myself why didn't I skip it. Mediocre ending but worth watching. This isn't a masterpiece to be a must watch but it's a good time killer if u don't have any other anime to watch yet.

Time traveling is one of the most interesting theme in every form of entertainment. Although, only a few can execute it well; Steins;gate did an outstanding job at that department.

The first few episodes were slow and, I dare to say, sometimes boring. However, slow pacing and long dialogues and explanations really fit an anime about scientists, time traveling and experiments. The premise was just like any other which is to save the world from an organization plotting a world denomination-at the beginning. Scientists love to do experiments but what if what they're doing is the cause of their loved one's pain? What do you think ... the mad scientists would feel and do? The transition of the original plot to the main objective of the protagonist in the second part is a factor of what made me love Steins;gate.

The jokes are basically Daru telling someone to repeat their lines which have a double meaning, Kurisu saying pervert and the protagonist speech. The humor's actually pretty good but it's somewhat repetitive. I didn't expect " I'm a mad scientist, so cool, Sonuvabitch!" though :p

The execution of time traveling, as I said above, the creators of VN nailed it. I thought it would be: cause-> bad effect -> protag time travels-> boom, problem solved. Or something similar. I was wrong it was more than that. It was mind puzzling, confusing and many, if not all, need time to understand what's going on. Of course, on the first episode you would comprehend nothing but even if it's being explain you still can't figure it out, and that's what most of us want: a complex and hard to understand anime.

I have nothing to complain about art except for the shape of the face of the protagonist; Seriously, why does his face look flat most of the time? Right? No.. just me? Ok.. `~`

As for the osts, nothing memorable. The opening is catchy and captivating, never skipped that. The VA of Kurisu and Okabe are enjoyable to listen to, they have this harmony when the time calls for it. From their voices, you can also hear the changes and feelings of the characters. From an enthusiastic mad scientist to a desperate man.

Knowingly it's based on a visual novel, I lowered my expectations for characters. (I.e. Yosuga no sora and Clannad) Supposed there is a male mc surrounded by a flock of girls (or traps!!), each girl has a chance to shine. I was right but it wasn't made the way I assumed. They had just enough screen time to sympathize with them, to understand their story and the buildup for the main story wasn't half-assed. Certainly in an anime, someone's tend to be an annoying girl who has to repeat her catchphrase everytime. Just let it pass, you'll like some things she's gonna do.
Character development is a no-brainer here. You see, unlike highschooler-senpai love, here it's just understandable. 3 same weeks of desperation over and over again, you would surely think that there's noone you could confide to and noone's going to know your situation; but then a friend comes you and say ' Don't fight alone, I'm here with you'.

I REALLY enjoyed this anime. It's not your average show. Steins;gate isn't for everyone but if you want something thrilling, complicated and heartwarming, Gogogo! Heck, it's so confusing I still haven't made sense of some parts of the anime. Another reason to rewatch the series lololol. Binge watching from ep. 8 to 20 isn't probably a good idea for this kind of show I think xD.

One of those gems which are really HARD to find, that is Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi.

The starting point is that of a typical shounen: a boy who wants to meets his father who, instead of taking care of his son, went to a never-ending adventure. But how the story was executed compensated for that clichè. I'm pretty sure that everyone who didn't watch the 1999 series and still hasn't got baited by this shounen type synopsis like me, immagined how this anime would be very wrong. There's much more to it.
Unpredictability and development are some of the greatest point of hxh. ... The fights are always strategy based, so even when a character is very weak, he can still win the battle, even just a part of it (what I mean here is completing the objective but not defeating completely the opponent) . And even when just talking (about the plans or deducing their opponents' move or power), you can feel its intensity which keeps you interested and pushes you to watch another episode. It's also very hard to anticipate how the story would go, it always goes on the other way, near or opposite of what you were thinking. The 'adventure' and 'bright' theme you thought you'll see here, is not here. Surely, there will be some of those but not the amount you were expecting. The contrast between the dark and bright tone of every arc is enjoyable.
The only flaw I think there is is the incomplete conclusions of some arc. People are left wondering where this x character go, what is -insert name here- doing or what happened to this one.

Madhouse, as we know, always does a great job. Good animations, excellent fighting scenes and in some scenes there are only pictures which highlights the emotion of that particular character be it joy, pleasure or rage, I think it's very fitting and likable. Hisoka and Togari's fight is my favourite. It was very fluid, Hisoka's graceful dodges and moves were well-animated.
The thing that got particularly criticized is the color palette. Many think that the darker tone of the original is lost. The art which made numerous fans' spines shiver. I think it's just their nostalgia though that they tend to miss what they loved. Personally, I think the colors are just right and the darker color palette are still there or will be there when it's time to use it.
Character designs are fine. Some were changed or were added some details. Others' design really make their persona more interesting, enigmatic or cooler.

Departure! is one of those openings you're gonna hate in the first 5 episodes then will grow on you and in the end it'll be one of your favourites. At least that's the case for me. The only ending I don't like is the first one though I don't particularly hate it because all endings are well made. Ending 2 (Hunting for your Dream) and 5 (Hyori Ittai) are very pleasant to hear
The use of classical music for soundtracks is excellent. They will make you have goosebumps. I honestly don't know how to describe it.
The voice actors/actresses are magnificent, in particular Hisoka's and Killua's. Namikawa Daisuke and Ise Mariya really do an outstanding voice acting on their characters, even with different moods and/or changes of personality.

Knowing it's a shounen, I predicted that this anime would have a vast group of characters; more useless ones with 1 or 2 adjectives needed to describe him/her, less screen time for each person, and people wouldn't really care if they appear or not. I was mistaken. They're interesting, each has their own story and persona. No one is THAT stupid, if serious, anyone in this series can think of their own strategy, complicated or not.
Character developments. It's just amazing how the author can write these, especially Killua's and Meruem's. The transition of a literally killing machine into an exceptional and loyal friend: It is just fantastic.

-1 point because it is unfinished, I'm here like many people wanting it to continue. Though what I really wish for is a conclusion without loose threads.
Everything I've mentioned above is the reason it is 10/10. The 1 point I added, is something you can only understand if you had watched this anime (of course, this only applies to those who loved Hunter x Hunter). Those are the reason why the enjoyment is without a doubt 11/10 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). The only anime I think is par with hxh is FMAB. I definitely recommend Hunter x Hunter to everyone because it surely is a Masterpiece.

What would a little girl do if she feels she isn't welcomed and needed in her own home?

I'm sure that many of us (not all of course) don't pay attention/care when our parents or relatives welcome you home because it is normal. Taiyou no Ie makes its readers know how important it is for some people to be told a simple greeting 'Welcome Home'.

The story (which is already written in synopsis) is very unique and is, alongside the character development, the strongest point of this manga. It is realistic, lighthearted,one of the most enjoyable and it just warms someone's heart. Taamo, the author ... and the artist, managed to throw everything which is clichè in every shoujo manga out of the window. It has a slow pacing which was advantageous to the plot. I even read a discussion in mangafox where the thread maker said he/she stopped at some point because the romance of this manga is REALLY slow. I think it is because the main priority is both of the main characters family and not the romance (one of the said thrown out clichès in shoujo).

The art is very pleasant and original. It fits really well for showing the characters' emotions. The character designs are lovable. In every panel, the scenes, characters, and places are drawn in a particular way, atleast for me. In a way that the fundamental objects, people, building etc. which symbolizes the dialog/narration are most of the time drawn alone. Thus, you can see the importance of that particular object while you feel sometimes bad, sometimes happy or both for that thing. (I'm sorry for that, I can't explain that part properly)

As I said earlier, the other main point of this manga is the character development. Most of the readers who has finished this has only 1 if not 0 characters they hate, because every single one of them will just grow on you, some are better, some are not that influential but that is an another matter. The idiom 'Slowly but surely' applies to Taiyou no ie perfectly -that's exactly how the story and character development went. Plus, depending on the situation, the point of view changes from time to time, because of that method you can understand why that person did that sort of thing, the reason why is he like that etc.
Even though the heroine is quite a crybaby, I didn't hate her (most of the time I do hate crybaby female chars if not always) because I could understand her and her position because Taamo did an excellent job depicting it.
The main male is 7 years older than the girl. Probably because of that, he is responsible and had always thought the consequences before he does something. He isn't that kind of main who is popular, got chased by girls lalalala then gets together with the mc. He guides and helps Mao as an adult and as a friend and viceversa which eventually makes them have an unbreakable bond.

Taiyou no Ie is just one of the best shoujo out there because of the reasons I mentioned and I did not, cuz you know, spoilers heh. Though for me, this is still the best shoujo I've ever read. I don't consider myself as a fan of this genre but I read them even though I can guess what will happen next, unlike psychological-horror and mystery genres. But this is different, a manga of that genre in which the mcs helping each other to build their families back is where their love came from, unlike boy (famous) and girl (not popular) or viceversa meet then one of them falls in love, some plot twist but in the end they're still together. Maybe I'm a bit biased giving it a 10, but it's worth atleast 9 or 9.5. I really reallllyyy enjoyed and loved this manga. It even made me think, if this how my older sister (mother side) felt for me. I think someday i'll just ask her ^^. First time, I read a shoujo prioritizing families and trusting others and that's what made this manga so warm and fun to read. First time, that there is no beach/pool scene at summer too xD

I've started watching anime because of Naruto, so it shouldn't be surprising that this series would be one of the first animes which made me love mangas and Japanese animations. I absolutely loved it: from the story, characters and their developments, music, art, comedy, almost everything I must say. I watched ft four years ago and you know what? It is just only now when I'm writing this review that I've come to realize how terrible it was for me to rate Fairy Tail with a 10 four years ago.

The word which can sum everything up is either Typical or Clichè.

The story ... is about a boy named Natsu who's searching for his dragon 'dad' who then meets, Lucy, the main girl, and now both of 'em with other group of friends have to go on some adventures. Typical shounen, I have nothing more to say.

I don't have to discuss art much as it isn't horrible but not that great either. Though the backgrounds were bad.

Yasuharu Takanashi, as expected, did an excellent job composing the theme songs. It usually fits the scenes, and most of them give me goosebumps. I personally like many op and ed songs but only a few are my favorites. Though I have to say, I've always skipped the songs near the end of the series because it feels like those were made for the sole purpose of having an opening song.

The characters are , for the third time, typical. A straightforward lead, a cool lady who acts cold, a guy similar to mc because he couldn't be the main's perfect rival if he isn't, and the main weak girl who always need to be saved. Every member of the guild has 1 thing in common that is, of course being it the main theme of anime, they value the most their friendship (maybe that's why they can power up using that ._. )

Fairy Tail uses an execution method which is very similar to a daily routine: it's the same, no matter what arc. Bad guys come-Fairy Tail members will be beaten up-Some flashback which always happen to be sad-Desperate friendship talk of Natsu-From the talk, he will gain power-Boom! Enemy obliterated-Let's go party because the bad guys lost, occasionally the enemy will become ‘good‘ and won't be a bad guy anymore, yey!- repeat. With a very very few plot-twist.The jokes and comedy are repetitive: a guy who always strip, erza who will get mad either for her cake or for no apparent reason, Natsu who will start a fight within the guild, Lucy who will complain about the mess Natsu started just to be cute or some shit, happy who won't say anything good but fish (and seriously, I'm sure I'm not the only one getting annoyed about him. And people say he's cute. No captain!) and all the girls doing the fanservice, big or small boobs didn't matter.

I mentioned that I absolutely loved it yet I only gave it a 4. My enjoyment then was really different from how I judge and rate Ft now. I was one of those kids who hopes for the bad side to lose. I have mixed feelings for the anime, I like the story, plot of the different arcs, some of the characters and, most of all, the music but it is cliche, corny and repetitive that you can always guess the outcome of an arc. At some point it became boring for me that I even dropped the second season. But for some reason, I still continue to read the manga. I ain't gonna lie I even cried at some scenes although it was VERY predictable (I was a noob back then xD) I recommend this to people who want to see an easy-going, predictable, fantasy anime. Don't be surprised though, if it became monotonous and dull.

I read the manga months before the anime went out. I was glad when I found out that it got an anime adaptation but at the same time I wasn't because most adaptations don't follow the original book or do some enormous changes; this anime didn't let me down.

Story: 9
Humans have become species which are very harmful to the planet. To prevent their growing numbers, parasytes have come to earth, took control of people and after that they kill and eat them too. I don't really understand why but most of them kill their own kind as well (maybe they fight because of food, Idk). ... This parasyte wasn't able to invade the brain of Shinichi, the main protagonist, but instead grew on his right arm. Not being able to control Shinichi, the two must have extreme coordination when other parasytes try to kill them. Shinichi now having to live as half human and half parasyte is the most interesting thing to see in Kiseijuu aside from the fights and understanding Tamiya Ryouko, atleast for me.
The studio (Madhouse not sure) did an excellent job adapting the original book. Followed the manga and had a great pace.

Art: 8.5
The art has really improved. I didn't appreciate the manga's art but in the anime, I loved it. The fights are terrific, but sometimes the MC not doing a thing, the spotlight is only on Migi. (Although, I don't think I should be complaining about that in art section, my bad) For me, it is really cool, seeing how fast they fight that you won't know who's attacking or defending.
The character design changed in a better way. Shinichi's appearance before the "transformation", having eyeglasses and that hairstyle made him look quieter and more of 'intelligent' type (I prefer him that than the transformation and than how it was in the manga, maybe I'm just in fangirl mode lololol); the main female, murano and a supporting female, Kana, had a better design which made them look cuter and younger. Her personality plus this drastic char design change of Kana even made her more popular than Murano.

The voice actors did a not outstanding but not terrible performance. I don't have much to say about that. There are only 2 things which left me an impression, how Tamura Ryouko laughed and migi's voice actress, yep actress: Aya Hirano. Maybe it's only me (well ^^") but I wouldn't have guessed that migi has even a female voice actress.
I don't like the op and ed to 'Dat' level but they aren't bad either.
Now the themes. They're fantastic heh. I'll give you a brief description, more like opinion, of my 2 favorites. 1- Next to you, this theme is a not so fast melody and has a melancholic and sad feeling. It's like someone's saying 'I know it's sad and tragic but you have to accept, fight and move on, because that's life'. 2- Migi's theme. A melody of someone full of curiosity wanting to define the mystery of the world.

Character: 9
Migi's and MC's relationship is really interesting. Starting from a doubtful one to faithful friendship. Shinichi accepted migi because of their experiences and hardships and vice versa. Migi became shinichi's best friend that he was thankful to not be able to control his brain. I like Migi because he isn't the typical parasyte that only wants to kill, he is always curious and fights using not only his powers but his intelligence as well.
Tamara reiko or Ryouko is like migi and that's why I like her too. Her character has a strong impact. Further description of her may make me write big spoilers.
Murano the female lead. She doesn't mean much to the story but well. When she said, 'you are Shinichi, aren't you?' and migi was already there, it made me 'woah hmmm, interesting'. Now stop saying that like 4 times in an episode, it was pretty annoying. I regret not counting how times she said that.
Enjoyment: 9
I loved this anime for the positive things I wrote above about the various sections. Migi and Tamura made it more interesting. The moral about the the relation of human and the earth, and what the mc and the last antagonist spoke about made me open my eyes, because it is applied to real life too.

This is my first review. I decided to write reviews to practice my English while sharing my thoughts on anime/mangas I dedicated my time to, so errors are inevitable. I apologize for that in advance.

Story: 9.5
Two brothers are left alone when their mother died. Trying to revive her with alchemy made things worse: the younger brother lost his whole body while the other lost his limbs. Now they're searching for a method to return their normal bodies. Doing their best to do that, they stumbled upon the planning of the worst disaster which is about to happen. Elric brothers along with their friends try to ... stop that.
The story is unique, the phasing and theme (Alchemy and equivalent exchange) are great. But I didn't give it a perfect score because I find it clichè-ish for a story to begin because of a sad/tragic experience.

Art:8
The art meets the standard quality of the animes of that time. The fights are usually exciting. I love the characters' design but I didn't appreciate the mangaka's style. Maybe just my personal taste

Voice acting is excellent. The voice actors fit their characters. Roy's and Ed's are just heh!
The music is amazing. To start it off, YUI-Again and Tsunaida te are some of my favorites. But every op and ed are really likeable even though some needs time. Even the most hated op (golden time lover I think). The themes are awesome. They will really leave an impact to you, most of the time I had goosebumps (more goosebumps, for some reason, now that I'm rewatching it). Lapis philosophorum, Trisha's and Resembool's lullaby, and the main theme are the best.

Character:9
Character development and hardships are shown and explained perfectly. For example, a mass murderer full of hatred is now trying his best to reform the country without a war or a revolution. The relationship between the brothers is so strong. Seeing for the first time, I thought the main female would be an annoying and weak girl; I was wrong. Okay, she cried and was weak a couple of times but because of that she stood up, became Ed, Al and many other people could rely on. Villains did a great job pissing me off except Lust, I loved her.

I really enjoyed this anime not only enjoyed but adored it. Good thing I watched it long after my cousin recommended it, because I was young and I'm sure i'm not gonna understand a thing (Having a sort of mystery genre). The negative thing is I watched the 1st series and it became a kind of spoiler at beginning. And I missed the Kyoudai soundtrack.
