This animu is one that made no actual effort of differentiating itself from the plethora of other isekai animu out there. In a word, generic.

It follows the story of a goddess who summons a hero from Japan in order to save another world from the wrath of its very own Demon King. The premise itself is lacking of anything to set it apart from others of its genre and it goes on to tread this line of "genericness" by having an overpowered main male protagonist with a major setback- being overly cautious.

Bakemonogatari is a breath of fresh air from animu cliches and tropes that religious ani-viewers come across on an almost every-anime-basis. It does so by giving twists to these tropes which make them unique. The most obvious and well-done as an example for this are the characters who are developed not just as what their archetypes entail of them but are given depth.

Blue Exorcist is one of those animu that radiate potential through the first episode. The first episode was done pretty well, with the establishment of who the main character is and with his relationship to some major characters. I especially enjoyed how his relationship with his father was established.

But aside from this, Blue Exorcist is just a generic shounen animu with nothing really notable to offer. The potential you see in it would decay over time as you watch more of its episodes as it introduces characters with no deeper personality to them aside from what is required of them based on their archetypes. ...
