Damn he crying over a review

Alright, I'm glad you understand. Let me be clear that I don't want your review to be deleted, I just don't want you to mention other reviewers/viewers. So, if we're on the same page, I'll let bygones be bygones once your review is edited without the reference to my co-written review or deleted.

As for the 3 points you brought up:

1.There is nothing wrong with having the correct portrayal of pedophilia. Aka, making it very clear to the viewer that it's awful and not making it morally ambiguous or outright supporting it. Look at Hunter x Hunter for example. Hisoka is a pedophile. Is he a hero? Hell no, he's a primary antagonist and always has been. Even though I wish he wasn't, he's still a phenomenally well written villain. The Made in Abyss antagonist is another pedophile too. He isn't make to look good or have morally ambiguous actions. So, I am not against having a pedophile character in an anime, but I am if they are made to see like an antihero or an actual hero. A famouse example is the book Lolita in which the narrator is the pedophile uncle who talks maliciously about his niece. Awful stuff happens there, but none of it was fetishized or portrayed positively. That's how pedophile characters should be portrayed. They can have nuance, but they should never be written as a good person.

My issue is not completely about the fact that Kureno stayed with Akito. There are 2 ways to alleviate this issue actually. 1. Make Kureno the same age as Akito or 2. don't make Akito having slept with Kureno back when she was a minor a shock value plot point. Shigure brought it up in episode 2 if you remember. I would also like to ask you not to say the review is based on 'ungrounded evidence'. Remember Uotani, one of Tohru's best friends? She's not 18 yet. However, she's in love with Kureno, who also likes her back. Okay, let me 'lower my standards for a second'. Did you know, the age of consent in Japan is only 13 on a federal level? There are actually prefectures that have overriden that law and upped the age of consent to 18. He is grooming her. He did the same for Akito, except for 8 years. The only reason it might not see like grooming anymore is because she is 20, but that doesn't change the fact that she was brought up by Kureno who 'would not leave her side' for 10 years. Akito wanted parental love and Kureno took advantage of that for romantic, sexual love. If Akito asked him for sex, he's supposed to say no because she is a child. It's not that far from the Usagi Drop manga ending at this point. Who cares is Akito if a god? She's still a victim being taken advantage of.

2. They make Shigure look like an antihero or a morally ambiguous person. I actually liked him S1. I realized who he was in S2 and was severely disappointed. Let me ask you real quick. Why is it 'unfair' of me to bring up the ambiguous way Shigure is portrayed as a pedophile. When Rin was portrayed overtly sexually for no reason, is that 'unfair' of me to bring that up as a flaw? When I complain about how most of the new characters have backstories that are portrayed the same as previous backstories, is it 'unfair' of me to bring that up as a flaw? When I see Kagura being toxic towards Kyo, one of my favorite characters, and it's not condemned but portrayed in a positive way, is it 'unfair' of me to bring that up as a flaw? It's not so I don't see why Shigure's portrayal is barred from being considered a flaw. I don't like the writing and I don't think it's objectively good either. Apologize for the harsh language in advance. The Fruits Basket Fandom Wiki even fucking says that "While Shigure is depicted as lazy and dirty-minded, he can be extremely sly and manipulative. Having been in love with Akito Sohma ever since she was in the womb, Shigure has stated that he is willing to sacrifice anything or dirty his hands to get what he wants."

https://fruitsbasket.fandom.com/wiki/Shigure_Sohma

The mangaka clearly made that man a pedophile. If you don't call that grooming, your mind is forever set in stone. Even if he was a well written pedophile, I'd still want him in jail, because he is just awful on all levels. I might understand for Kureno, but don't defend Shigure at least...

Hi. I don't care if you disagree or not, but just know that mentioning other people in your review without permission violates MyAnimeList guidelines. That means it is on grounds for being deleted. I highly suggest you frame your review in a way that argues why Fruits Basket: The Final is a 10 rather than a counterargument. https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=575725

By the way, I am a fan of Fruits Basket Season 1. Don't claim I am misunderstanding grooming. Read the wikipedia if you don't believe Shigure is a pedophile. Lastly, why don't you talk to someone about what you're doing. "I debuted a review that accused my favorite anime of pedophilia." I wonder how that will go...
