story (10/10):
One word: Awesome. Really, we have an almost-immortal vampire, a nazi, some terrorists and a girl that has a lot of issues. Also we have a cold woman that is the boss of that vampire and smokes and a very cool butler. Just throw all that together with some graphic violence and some philosophic questions and you have one of the best stories that ever existed. Oh, change that some graphic violence to a lot. Alucard doesn't defeat his opponents, he doesn't kill his enemies, he destroys them. It's a big part of the story. Why does he destroy? Why does he like to
...
kill? Why is he such a monster? Wondering is the beginning of humankind. A good story has to make you wonder. Where some stories want to catch your attention with plot-twists, this one is about just one person. You want to know who Alucard is, you want to know why he has done what he has done. But most importantly, you want to understand him, to like him. You want to understand why he calls himself a monster. You want to know why he obeys Integra. He is the story.
Art: (10/10):
I have seen better art in the world of anime. Does that matter? No, because Alucard is such a cool guy to watch. When he has his glasses on, he is crazy, when he has his hat off, he is sad. When he is in his final form, he just looks awesome. Look at how he moves, at how he looks. That is great art on it's own. I've seen better artwork, better graphics, better animation, but nowhere, they are combined like in Hellsing Ultimate.
Sound (10/10):
I like other genres of music better. But that doesn't matter. Music has to fit the anime, or the OVA. And this music, just like the OVA, is crazy, is untamed. It gives you a feeling of chaos. I give the sound a 10/10, when it makes the show better. And this makes it better. The theme song of Rip is a perfect example. It just makes her character even worse.
Character (10/10):
Like I have said before, this OVA only revolves around one person, but that doesn't mean the others are bullshit and bad. No, they all have their own characteristics. But they all stop existing when you look at the personality of Alucard. Everyone of you knows Twilight? Vampires in Twilight are just like normal humans, they love, they fight, they hate. Alucard shows what a real vampire should be. A force of nature with just one ambition, to kill as many people as possible. And killing them is not enough. He destroys them, physically and mentally. He has made an art from killing. Every time you look at him, you see something special. And when you think he is getting boring, voilà, another side of his personality pops up. He shows every side of emotion we know, but at the same time he keeps his cool and doesn't let his actions be controlled by anything. The other characters are not bad either, but in the OVA, all is about Alucard and you can see it. They have gone all out in creating him.
Enjoyment (10/10):
I only give this point when I still want more if the serie has already ended. That doesn't happen too often. My credo is "If an old thing you were having fun with dissappears, you just search for something new" So if I still want more, it means the anime really did a good job.
Overall (10/10):
This review was more about a character then about the series, but I have had fun with the other characters, Pip, Police Girl (yeah, I still use that name and not Seras Victoria), Integra, Walter. They all were fun to watch and I liked them all. But in the end, Alucard just made the OVA. He made it to what it was. And I think that when one character makes a thing so much fun, you have to write about that one person in the story. It's just my opinion, but I hope you will watch this OVA and that you too see the true definition of Vampire.

Story (7/10):
I can't spoil and I won't. But this story is pretty good, till you get to the end. After episode 25 you think something like: "Ok... the end, what happens next." You are going to search for season two, but there isn't one. I think a good story is about wondering. What will happen next? Why do characters do the things they do? Why is the world as it is? You begin your story with a little kid that plays with his sister and looks every part the innocent, naïve person. Then you hear that he has done something terrible. That kind of moments
...
made the story for me.
Art (9/10):
I am a sucker for this kind of things. Te explain myself, I am going to redirect you towards the outfits of Xerxes and Alice. They look awesome. The world itself looks like any normal world, but the clothing has a high level of design. Really, for the people that love cosplay, here is your anime.
Sound (10/10):
Why not a 10? The music is made by Yuki Kajiura. She makes beautifull music, doesn't matter what kind of anime you're watching. I think the soundtrack is just what it has to be. At times that you get a magnificent fight, the music is energetic. At the time that Oz has a nervous breakdown, the music is sad. The music really makes the anime better. And if that happens, the music deserves a 10
Character (10/10):
This I can defend with ease. The best part of this show are the characters. They are all different, hate eachoter, love eachother. If you want a relaxed superhero, you can get it. If you like little boys, you can have it. If you like someone who likes little boys, yeah, you get the point. I will tell something about the characters and you have to decide if you think about them like I do.
Oz Bezarius: When I first saw him, I hated him. He was childish, ignorant, naïve and he wanted to save everyone. But actually they are good characteristics and he is a perfect protagaonist. He has strong ideals and a sense of justice. But the best part about watching him, is seeing him move on. It doesn't matter what is thrown at him, he just marches on. In that way he even go me to like him.
Alice: Yeah, what to say about a rabit who eats meat. She is arrogant, strong, possesive. She always calls Oz her manservant and Break Clown, she also calls Raven Seaweed-head. Her world is pretty clear. She always has something to say and she doesn't look back. This gives a nice contrast with Oz. You have Oz, a happy-sad boy on one side and Alice, an agressive, possesive rabit-girl on the other side.
Raven: Mysterious, a loner, someon who doesn't want to be known. Or at least, that's what he at first looks like. Just put him in the same room with Alice and he shows his true colours. Just steal his hat and you will see what for kind of person he is. He and Alice always fight. They both want Oz to love them. But they have a common enemy, Xerxes Break. When you see them fight, you almost think of something as a brother-sister relationship. It's almost cute. Raven isn't interesting to watch, it are his relations with other people in the show that make him interesting to watch.
Xerxes Break: The last person I'm going to talk about. He alone gets a 10 out of 10 every time I see him. He is maybe the best character I have ever seen. You don't know much about him, but you see him act and the more he acts, the more you understand him. He is happy, teasing and he likes candy, but at the same time he is sad, angry, chaotic and coughs up blood. It's mostly his aura that fools you. When you see him, you think he is a clown, like Alice says, but if you see him fight against Cheshire, you don't know what to think. Is he really that strong? And that even gets worse when he is surrounded. He doesn't feel powerfull, but when you see him fight, you see that he is powerfull.
Enjoyment (8/10)
Seeing the characters is fun, but the end ruins it. It's as simple as that.
Overall (9/10)
If this show had a better ending, it would have gotten a 10 and I wouldn't have hesitated to say that this was the best anime ever. The characters were deep, the sound good. The ending ruined it. If you would like to see a better ending, or if you want to know more about any of the characters, read the manga. It's actually the better of the two, no discussion.
