This anime is bad, but have a special place in my heart.

When judging an Anime I take the following factors in consideration "characters likebility", "visual quality", "Audictive quality" and "story quality". Because of that, sometimes an Anime may go very well in some of this factors, but terrible in others. Happy Sugar Life is perhaps the greatest exemple of been brilliant in some aspects but totally trash in others.

Visual Quality: the anime is gorgeous, character designs are cute, animation is fluid, and the construction of the scenes are well done.
Audictive Quality: The anime have a great OST, the op and Ed are bangers, the bgm ... is well placed in occordance with the feeling of the scene.
Character Likebility: That is where things start to sink. The little girl, Shio, is super cute and wholesome it's impossible to not like her. The protagonist best friend is also a sweetie. The little girl's older brother have an interesting thing going on. Now the main character is unpleasant, it wouldn't be as bad if her background story was convincing, but it isn't, we will talk more about it in the next factor. And EVERY SINGLE ONE of the rest of the cast are THE LOWEST KIND OF GARBAGE, it's like society was made of cartoonish evil people, everyone...
Finally, Story Quality: The premise had some potential, but the author had no idea how to work it. Instead of working something reasonable to make the plot go forward, she just relay on the maniacally evil characters that she created to trigger random events in the story. Needless to say that the story struggles in keeping your disbelief suspended, every couple of events you see yourself thinking "wtf is wrong with those people?". No human interaction feels normal. The end is somehow decent... that is, considering the nature of events that happen through out the story, the ending at least gives a satisfying closure, safe for a single datail, but I won't spoiler.
I must to say however that it falls in the category "so bad it's good" watching it as a joke is actually quite funny.

In conclusion, Happy Sugar Life have enough qualities to keep you entertained until it's last secounds, but you will know that it is crapp through it.
It's like a cheap jellybean, you know it doesn't taste great, but if you are bored you may find yourself shoving a handful in your mouth.

I recommend it? Well you have nothing to lose, you will probably not like it, but it's just a couple of minutes if your life so... Whatever.

Flagship of modern Anime moe. Cute, heart warming, funny, relatable and relaxing, a perfect checklist of what the genre is about.

It is a CGDCT anime, but it actually construct a very solid world around it and an overarching main mystery that slowly but steady reveals it self. Also there is real character development, slow and smoothly characters overcome their weaknesses, become closer to each others open up, is not for nothing that the third season is called "Bloom", but most importantly it is heart warming, seeing the characters grow gives you joy, you feel like you are a part of the gang and is ... growing with them.

Every character is unique and special, there is no superficial character or generic stereotypes, if anyone says otherwise it is because it didn't cared to pay attention, as I said earlier everything developers gently, the anime don't throw a character stereotype on yor face, you get to know each character as you watch episode by episode, and when you notice it you will be genuinely attached to them.
The anime humor is settled, no extravagant jokes, actually it works a lot with internal humor, so you will only laugh when you feel comfortable with the characters.
Visually the anime is gorgeous, the backgrounds are based in the French town of Colmar, breaking the rule of Japanese style that every anime naturally have. Characters are also designed to be visually appealing, extremely cute.
Op and Ed of this first season are catchy, maybe too catchy, before you notice you will be singing "kokoro pyon pyon machi" on the gym. The back music on the other hand is top notch, based on traditional European music it is very relaxing and good moody.

There is a gatekeeper ecchi scene at the first episode, however the rest anime is very settled in this regard.There are some scenes that could be considered fanservice without context, but actually the anime treats it with genuine inocense, Girls go to a public pool, ok they will be using swimsuits, but you don't get weird câmera angles and provocative poses. I'm writing this because I know some people may get a wrong impression from Rize's first appearance in the show, and I want to assure you that this is not a constant in the anime.

Watch this anime, but watch it with good will in your heart, and I assure you will find a safe place for happiness.

The premise is good, the characters are likeble and at the beginning there is some good drama with Mei family conflicting with Yuzu style. However I think Saburouta kind of put it to waste when she start recycling jealousy drama... But that critc fits more the Manga, since the anime didn't went that far on the story.
At first glance the Anime is visually beautiful, nice colors and character design that translate well Saburouta style, but at second glance, the amount of bad CG on the background is depressing.
Op and Ed are great, one of my favorites of every Anime, can't get tired of listening to ... it. On the other hand the bgm gets repetitive sometimes and it is easy to noticed that they are trying to force a dramatic climax using the music.
As I said the original story is great but kind of waste it's potential by repeating dumb jealousy drama, the anime adapted 3 of those repetitive arcs, but the first family conflict arc and the father arc are really good, and of the jealousy arcs the Matsuri is my favorite, because she is cute.

Also the anime kind of disfigured some key plot points of the Manga, which was kind of upsetting, for exemple the scene where Yuzu give Kumagoro to Mei is switched for Mei's father giving it to her.

Overall, it is an enjoyable Anime to watch if you don't want to think much about it.

This Anime is great, i do not recommend it.

Unless you are a really big fan of the originals and like trash humor, you may wounder why do an OVA like this even exists?

Well, one of the key reasons why Higurashi stands up in the terror genre is how the story telling makes you feel atached to the characters, specially in the VN, when a character dies you feel sad because someone you like died, when a character is the culprit you feel betrayed because it was your friend. This friendship that breaks the 4th wall is build throghout the series, but when the final episode ... cames, it is all gone, the characters live happly ever after(*), but you don't get to see them again. Higurashi Kira is an opportunity to enjoy the slice of life of hinamizawa without having to worry with Oyashiro's curse.

If you are a big higurashi fan and enjoyed the series, specially the VN, you defnetly will enjoy this OVA.

The humor is built around fan services and internal jokes, thus again you must be a big fan to enjoy it.

I liked it, butI can understand who hated it.

If you wonder if you should watch just ask yourself "Am I a hardcore higurashi fan?"

OVERATED

The movie is a magic and spiritual trip, such as Chihiro, except that it is bad.

No character is likeble, the spirts are assholes, imperial humans are assholes, the humans from the mountain are protraid as the villains, but actually are the only inocents in the story and the protagonist is poorly explored.

The protagonist is a Jomon, an indigenous from japan, but that doesn't affect the story at all, he lacks indentity and purpose.

And talking about purpose, that may be the biggest problem of the movie. It completely looses itself from the original quest and end with a messy and senceless destruction of everything, and ... the main culprit just get away with it, not because he runs away, or because he defeat the hero, it seems like people just ignore what he did. In the end of the movie you just ask, what was the point?

Sure as a work from studio ghibli it is full of beatifull visual and incredible sound track, which is the only thing that keeps it from been a completely waste of time, probably the shiny technical quality overshadow the poor plot.

WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE WITH THE ANIMATION?

The story is fine, but totally different from the game, which is not necessarily a problem, it's ok to have different version. But it feels kind of rushed and don't give time to the audience think about it, I am not sure how someone who didn't played the game would sympathize with the characters.

However my biggest concern is the techinical quality of the anime, the animation feels weird, the audio is a mess, and the flow is completely random, in one scne they are in the truck, than, without any trasition they start showing inside the enemy ... base. I just felt confused watching it.

It is sad that a story that i love so much had this poor adaptation, if you didn't liked the anime, please don't let it keep you from playing the game, I'm sure that anyone would love this story if they read it from the sourse.

Perfect anime to watch when you are bored. It is short, funny and cute.
This anime is a Master piece considering it's purpose and limitation.
2 min ep you can't expect more than that.
Story: well it's a 2min/ep there... story obviously is not the focus.
Art: Just Fucking Cute... all of them
Sound: Well I'm not an expert in sound... I could hear, so it is 10
Character: Again, 2min/ep you can't expect character development or anything, but all of them are cute and lovely in a certain way
Enjoyment: Laughts and Ownt, those are the reactions watching this show
