don't forget the angry parents too LOL... ahhhh I wanna go back to the adult world already
trying to convince parents their kid is safe to discharge is sometimes wayyyy easier said than done >__>
are you gonna get your own nursing student soon too? :'d
I got sick on the first day LMAO. stupid kids and the viruses they come in with, zzzz....
but tbh peds is great, hours are so much better aaaaaaa, compared to surg I feel like I'm lazying around doing nothing everyday LOL
hope you're not spreading yourself too thin!
gen surg was literally slavery... except even slaves didn't have to pay tuition to work LOL
fortunately I did well on my shelf exam so all's well ends well. but man.... that sure was something special.
can't wait to wrestle those 2 yr olds who won't let me stick temp probes in their ears or open their mouths for me to look inside :')
I'm ashamed for ever thinking obgyn was hard after having now done surgery LOL. everyday was a tragic cycle of waking at 3:30am, working till ~7pm, come back, study, sleep, then rinse repeat. I'm just glad that's over, off to peds and I heard it'll be chill :')
hope you've been well though!
I heard only the top nursing students can do ICU, yeah? you must be super smart! do you already have job offers prepared after you graduate, or plans for MSN/DNP maybe?
Yup, which means they also respond to emergencies everywhere in the hospital LOL. I shadowed an anesthesia resident because I was curious and I swear the mofo had the stamina of a damn cheetah. Literally responded to a million codes through the night and ran marathons in between each. I felt delirious and my legs buckled by daybreak even though I didn't actually do anything and meanwhile this dude still casually took the stairs to the cafeteria for his morning coffee. If anything, he convinced me I gotta start hitting the gym more often LMAO.
ayyyy nice to hear you had positive experiences with them! yeah anesthesiology is versatile since they can work in the OR, ICU, or floor depending on how they're trained. but that's 7 more yrs of training to go LMAO
LOL so you've heard of those infamous shifts too huh... the good news: they only happen every 4 days. the bad news: they happen every 4 days. I tried a 'test-run' a few weeks back - my legs were crippled by the end.. e__e
2nd year's alright... mostly just stressed studying for our board exams happening this april haha.
we spend 8 weeks in each of the major specialties (ob/gyn, surgery, internal med, peds, etc.) and formally choose a specialty after we graduate, at which point we train for 3-7 more years (depends on specialty) to be board-certified. I'm interested in anesthesia but things can change, we'll see. :p
oof yeah rotations are tough for many reasons but imo >24 hr overnight shifts are the main killers.
I'm a 2nd year, about to go through hell start clinical rotations in a few months :')
but to answer your question, yeah it's when hematocrit is abnormally high and yes I'm a medical student :p
noticed on your profile you'll be an RN, nice! which year are you?
