With the Hidden Meaing, that´s true. But even when you watch it slowly you won´t find out everything. It takes time and a lot of background knowledge for some hidden Meanings.
I watched it all in 2,5 weeks, and I know a lot, really a lot of the hidden meanings. But that´s all interpretations. You always find new things here and there. So even when you think you know them all you gonna find a new one after some time.
And many hidden meanings are clearer when you followed the Path of Gintama.
So yeah. Either you can understand things clearly and realise them, then you can watch Gintama normally.
So you're watching Gintama that's great.

The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
