And you are correct, Mion is my favorite character from there and also one of my favorite characters from anime/manga in general. You asked about Umineko just in time, I've watched it quite a long time ago and now I'm reading it. Today I've finished 5th part out of 8 parts in total. Umineko anime covered first 4 parts of manga, though they skipped lot of content so it's good to read it from the beginning.
