Being a fan of hellsing i have to admit that the vampire genre has surely gone downhill from what it used to be . Vampires were supposed to be the creatures of night lurking in the shadows ready to tear your limbs the first chance they get. But alas vampires are now mostly viewed with the image of a highschool brat thanks mostly to twilight ofcourse.But out of all the shiny shit and glowing faggots comes a show displaying a fresh take on vampires that somehow feels familiair with the original concept of Vampires.Shiki is a very refreshing anime on vampires which focuses more on

drama and feels more like horror than hellsing or Blood+
Story - When i saw the first few ep i was quicky reminded of Salems lot . both have quite a similar feel in the begining, but thats where it ends and shiki takes off in a different direction.Story feels quite uninteresting at first and seems predictable but it gets better overtime and ends with quite a satisfactory finale.Not the best i have seen but still quite enjoyable.
Art - The art here is fantastic . The scenery is beautiful and characters are drawn out nicely.Only bad thing is the character hair and mouth shape. The hair feels like its coated in some anti-gravity gel .
Sound - Openings and Ending are all well done and the voice actors in the dub were decent.
Character - There are plenty of likable characters here and there is plenty of development on both side of camps . Only downfall is that there are too many for some to remember when the plot unfolds you may need to recall your memory sometimes.The developement of characters on human side is quite new and refreshing to see.
Enjoyment - A very entertaing watch . I was hooked on the first episode and finished it in one sitting . It has a lot of philoshophical concepts and tries to tell a gripping and emotional story.
Overall- A very good series recommended for all and especially fans of horror and mystery genre
