Not much of a romance here. A cynical high school guy joins a club to help people with their problems. The MC sucks here and is detestable. He's always pouting and surly and no one likes him in this anime. You just cannot have good animes with lousy MCs. He's surrounded by girls who somehow tolerate him. This anime is overrated but I did get through it all painfully. I'll probably get through season 2 also.

This is a really good anime. I'm going to keep this review as short as I can but I have to write one. I may also write them for season 2 and the movie.
9 high school girls get together to make an idol group to save their school from closing due to low supply of students (low fertility in Japan, which the anime does state). The girls all overcome various objections to joining, then they combine powers and prep for the upcoming Love Live "school idol" contest. "School idol" is the premise of this whole series. Outstanding songs and dances. Nothing annoying here, ...

I don't write many reviews, but in this case I have to because anime like this seems socially harmful. Adolescent boys cannot get ideas about how to get girlfriends from anime like this. I like harem and ecchi anime, but some like this one have male protagonists with no redeeming qualities. This boy is a real wimp with lousy friends.
Main girl is beautiful and likeable, making it completely unrealistic that she would ever talk to the main wimpy boy. It's painful watching him interact with her. Through the end of this anime he never redeems himself. He should never ... |
