Nope, I didn't like season 1 of PN so I'm not gonna be watching it. As for VeG, yep looks cool. I still have to watch the side story movie. I also think you are right, it's probably the last film. I think they may have confirmed it too(or maybe the novel series is over but I think they mostly made up their own story).

Oh yeah I was referring to the trailers. We are getting Gamescom today(CoD was unveiled yesterday) so hopefully there's more to come.
thelivinglegend Aug 23, 2020 5:53 AM
Did you watch stuff from the DC Fandome event?
sindarfrom Jul 23, 2020 6:45 AM
Does it work for you? Training online?

As scary as it is, October might not be safe yet o.o Probably shouldn't make things sound worse than they have to be, but still...
sindarfrom Jul 23, 2020 1:23 AM
Nope, they don't :D To be fair, wearing masks when you work on your PC the whole day is pretty hard, but I wish we had a code for using them when we go visit other rooms and such. Though I think the bigger problem was constant commuting to another bigger city that is going on here, that is probably how people got infected (just my opinion).

Did you get an update on when your work starts?
sindarfrom Jul 21, 2020 2:24 PM
Aww, I actually enjoyed talking about economy :(

Here we also have a vaccine developing, tested on the military recruits, quite possibly not entirely with their legitimate consent ^^' Bad news is the virus stats. First Brasil scared me, then US got back on the downwards track, then India :( Is pretty scary.

I have been going to work as usual since May. Only difference was that the cafes worked only for take out, and I had to cook my own breakfasts. Was a huge pain. Otherwise it was okay. Recently cafes opened back up, but also we got first cases in the uni so we shut back down :/ Not a very fun times.

All teaching is done online, had been since March. It is pretty okay for my subjects, I don't think the delivery was worse; but also I think students have harder time staying focused.

I mean, most of the north-west European countries have a heavily socialized politics, works fine for them. Tbh, I hope they manage to pull the center for R&D from the silicon valley and prove that good conditions for the workers is the key in high tech development. Probably not going to happen too soon though, so far US wins the race it feels like.

Oh okay. You feel like Emirates and Saudi Arabia are healthy economies? I always had an impression they didn't develop to the point where they can survive without high oil prices, but I might be wrong of course. Immigration is usually a good thing, most countries with a steady in-flow of people develop faster (though have to admit Korea and China develop well without a too huge immigration flow). But I also feel like in, say, Emirates, right now the state itself is not very welcoming to the foreigners who want to make it a home. You do feel like guest there. Was my impression at least.

Hong Kong is also an interesting example. It is a huge economic center, but I wonder if it is going to be able to compete with Shenzhen. I guess what I am trying to say is, I am not sure if the idea of a small powerful trade center is still viable now, same as it was in the past. I sure hope it is, Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities.

Yep, absolutely agree with all your points.

I did read it, thank you! Wow, I feel like I didn't know enough about Indian history, definitely not about its economy. India had planned economy, same as USSR? Wow, never would have guessed. Guess that is why there are still those weird government companies in telecom and banking and transportation.

I can't really blame the guys who made this planned economy system, it was before a bunch of countries tried it and showed how it completely fails. But I bet if India started a liberal market from right after it got independence, it would have probably grown better. Though as you said, the question about jobs for this huge population is not a joke and preventing agriculture from being moved down by competition was and still is vital.

Sorry I took time to reply!

I guess there are two important points there. Germany did have a history of a good education, industry and other such things that made it easy for it to grow. But the first half and the middle of the 20th seen the country completely destroyed. Plus there are no natural resources or other bonuses. It developed to be a welfare state but not by starting rich, it kinda got rich while trying to be good for the citizens. I don't know histories/economics of the other countries well enough to draw more examples of this way, but my impression is that it is a legit alternative to the wild US-style capitalism that people tend to think of as the only fast way forward.

Yep, employment in India is a huge thing, I understand. It is already hugely impressive the country employs that many people.

I had study it up before replying, was a good question =) I actually was basing my thoughts on the general impression I had from the news, like "trade wars with china" that current administration is famous for, or previous stories about preventing free trade of raw materials, like steel, which was big on our TV but might have actually been nothing too serious. I looked at it carefully, seems I was wrong, US still is more open for free trade than most countries, even with new trump tariffs. Guess I learned something, my bad =)

Yep, you are right. It is a good question how one starts with getting towards the good roads and healthcare though. It doesn't come for free, and you have to start with taxes or a good economy first. I personally think there is an argument for starting with taxes, since economy doesn't have to grow from you wishing it too, while good roads and healthcare directly leads into better business climate.

Cool, what you described was pretty much my impression of the country, but I expected the small manufacturing businesses to still employ a lot of engineers. Guess I was wrong, as you explained. Good to know!

State-owned companies are the worst. It is not a socialist thing though, more like "big government", or "planned economy" thing. Sure countries like USSR, Venezuela and many others that are know as socialist did the state-own business, but so did France after the war for example, Russia has stupid amount of state-owned companies right now too, and it is a semi-capitalistic state, definitely not a welfare one. It is just a popular bad practice, doesn't really have to do with socialism.

I was actually surprised India has state-owned companies. Apparently even some bus services are monopolized by the government, that was pretty bizarre to me.

Yeah, protectionism always drives the prices up, makes local have trouble buying new equipment, etc. I dunno about agriculture benefiting either, with Indian prices it would be impossible for the international companies to compete anyway I think. Btw, this is also not a socialist thing. Right now US, which is definitely far from being socialist, is one of the leaders in protectionism, same is Chine, which is a state-capitalism regime, definitely not a socialism from what I know. Germany and other welfare states in Europe though are trying to do open free market trading as much as possible, and they are best examples of socialist countries.

I think only Indian taxes are kinda-sorta a little high, but not really - other countries have it way worse I think. I think if anything, India is one of the most hard core capitalist countries I know of. But yeah, the protectionism is silly. We have exactly the same problem in Russia, and I seriously dislike everything about it. Though is just my opinion, I don't know enough to be sure in it o.o
thelivinglegend Jun 24, 2020 4:34 AM
By the way the backgrounds are up.
sindarfrom Jun 23, 2020 12:09 PM
I kinda get it, though my impression was that there is enough production in the country, meaning enough manufacturing.

Why do you lump protectionism with socialist policies though?..

See that's there but I feel like I actually play a lot more first-party titles than 3rd party ones. Like this gen, my favourites definitely are Mario Odyssey and God of War. Granted I don't have both consoles but I would have played at least 10+ hours of each and I loved them. And 3rd party stuff will inevitably come to consoles so that's cherry on top. But I do agree with you regarding indie stuff, I'll probably end up getting a mid-tier laptop that can play them and stuff from older generation. I'd love to play Ori or Hollow Knight.

I'd say apart from the CoD games I have played a number of shooters. I had a decent PC that could play almost every game from the seventh generation(pre-2014). Stuff like Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, etc. It's just that FPS is one of few video game genre I've never been into unless it offers something exciting, like Doom. Plus I don't like multiplayer.

There was an even that happened in May actually but Microsoft got hell for it because it was a BS even with nothing but cinematic trailers. AC Valhalla had like 3 seconds of gameplay among cinematic stuff. The actual event is happening in July, similar to what the PS5's was. Although I don't have a lot of hope, they had nothing this gen.
thelivinglegend Jun 22, 2020 7:31 AM
See that is true but I don't have the budget to build a powerful PC to start with. Getting either the games or the console itself will eat into about 20% of my savings by the time I get there and family has offered to buy both for me. I'll probably buy a good one after I've started earning real money. Besides I actually like consoles to be honest. The big TV and the joystick.

And I agree for shooters keyboard+mouse and gyro aiming are better options, but I don't play a lot of shooters. The only fps I've played are CoD MW, MW2 and BO. And the ones I'm actually interested in are exclusives for the PlayStation, third person shooters like Uncharted 2, which is among my favourite games.

Platformers involve pure gameplay, no story or cutscene bullshit and I like it for that. I guess I never got tired of it. The 3DS emulator Citra is out for android and I'm about to finish Super Mario 3D Land and it's great.

I didn't hear good things about RE6 and I was told RE7 was very good so that I will for sure.

Are you looking forward to the Xbox event in July? I've never liked Xbox except for Halo(amazing game).
sindarfrom Jun 21, 2020 3:02 PM
I heard about it a lot. It is really hard for me to imagine this kind of a job market tbh...
thelivinglegend Jun 21, 2020 8:41 AM
Welp I don't have a PS4. Corona's pretty bad in my area right now. Any gaming I'm doing right now is with my old dump of a PS3 and emulation of various systems on my phone. I go to my friend's place pretty often and I spend enough time to actually finish games.
I finished TLOU part 1 a week ago and I was looking forward to playing TLoU 2 with my friend and then this happened.
As for Doom I played till after you get the blue card and go to that big arena with some sort of a system. I will definitely buy Doom Eternal for the PS5.

I actually watched the PS5 live-stream, my friends and I were looking forward to it. I loved Ratchet and Clank the most. It actually looks next-gen, with little loading times when he goes from one stage to another. Plus I LOVE platformers. I'm also pretty excited for Horizon 2, I played at least half of part one, and the combat was great. Other than that Kena actually looked pretty cool. As for RE, I haven't played a single one of them unfortunately. Not even RE4. For some reason the movies being shitty kinda put me off the franchise, but I'll definitely check out the first two RE remakes.

Cyberpunk has been delayed to November, again actually. It might be a great launch title for the next-gen systems. They said it'll get a day 1 patch even if you buy it for the current-gen systems. And if I still had my old video card I think Persona 4 would have worked on my PC I think it doesn't need a lot of requirements.
