Absolute masterpiece. After 4 films Anno has managed to not only recapture the magic of the original series, but right at the end take it's themes and characters even farther than they had ever gone before. An ending that is even more bizarre, more ridiculous, and more miraculous than the original. Only a series about teenagers in robots fighting monsters could be so jaw-droppingly creative and filled to the brim with heart. Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon A Time not only reminded me of why Evangelion touched me so deeply when I was younger, but somehow managed to do it all over again.
