First off, let me say i'm didn't give this anime a 10. I wasn't completely amazed but people have different opinions after all and nevertheless i still think this is a show with few flaws and alot of enjoyment. It has a very nice feel to it and this is a great watch for those into the mystery genre especially. The show is hardly at times slow and usually packed with suspenseful and captivating moments, plenty of plot twists as well.
Story (9). Right off the bat i'm going to say i think the story was the show's strongest asset. The whole tone in general is
...
very grey and morbid, and I liked that. The tone collaborates with the whole idea of the story very well without it being depressing or feeling dull. The story itself picked up very quickly, pretty much getting to the point in the first episode with little exposition or build up. This is done to make you actually want to watch the show and (plot twist) it works! The story evolves well and there are very high points which happen to be very suspenseful and actually at times made me nervous to see what was going to happen. There are alot of unexpected turns in the story, part of this is due to the very well executed character interplay particularly between Light (the main character) and L. I will say though, a few episodes felt a bit slow and i was slightly uninterested at times, however high points in the story made up for that indeed. Whenever i thought the show was losing me, it griped me right back in again. There were no real plot holes at all and rarely times when you could guess what was going to happen next, which is good and allows you to watch and enjoy with little thinking. There were some emotional moments as well as some dark moments, but the times where there was alot of build up and suspense were the the best aspect. The ending didn't set well with me, mainly because i wanted to see a different ending but even so i'm not criticizing the show at all for it because the ending was well executed and gave good subtle closure.
Art (8). The animation is dated of course so i can't complain about lack of quality or anything. The characters looked good and real while being unique at the same time. The environments looked grey which set well with the story and tone. The show's aesthetic was actually really nice and i liked it. Death Note has a very nice feel to it where characters and objects have a omniscient glow and light reflect them which looks pretty. Tense moments are animated very well, even when all that's happening is a character writing down a name it looks just very good and fluent. Effects like Rain and dark clouds help to flesh out the dark overall mood.
Sound (8) The soundtrack fit very well with the series, having a classic horror/mystery/thriller style to it. During intense moments the music was beautiful. during dialogue scenes or build up scenes the music is added in well, not eclipsing what's going on in the story but at the same time making you enjoy listening to it. The first intro song is in my opinion the best, it suited the show rather perfectly and set the tone well. The second is a complete change to a heavy metal style song. This does work but it isn't one of my favorites. The ending tracks are a bit forgettable, the second one worked well but I honestly don't remember the first. The voice acting of the characters is spot on, all of them are portrayed well and the general sounds are crisp and clean.
Characters (7) The characters are my least favorite feature of the show in my opinion. This isn't a bad thing and doesn't mean i didn't like them it's just that i couldn't connect with them that much and some are a bit forgettable. I will say as the series went on some of the weaker links are fleshed out more and that was a good touch. All the main characters worked and played their roles well, Light, Misa, Ryuke, and L were all solid interesting characters. Light's intensions are made clear from the start and you see how his character changes especially at the very end. Ryuke is personally my favorite, showing he has no intrest in taking sides in the dilemma of the story is funny to see considering he watches these sometimes terrible things happen without a care. His constant giggling was funny to me, and he's just a likable presence despite being a god of death and all. Misa did he job well, she was another likable presence and she had her moments. I can't say i truly understand her goals but I didn't have problems with her at all. L is another of my most liked characters. His interplay and chemistry with Light is the best part of the majority of the show. The whole dynamic between them is very interesting to watch, and L himself is very weird. I guess weird is interesting to me, nevertheless i really liked him. A few of the characters introduced later in the series were my least favorite, to me they were just kind of annoying and I didn't care about them at all. In all honesty i hated them but it's not because of bad writing I just simply hated who they were if that makes sense. The side characters like I said are the weak link. Side characters usually end up being my favorite but in this case they were a bit forgettable. Matsura had his moments and i did like him but the rest were nothing special but were functional for the most part and weren't useless.
Enjoyment (7) my gripes with the show are simple and not much...The characters could've been a bit better, and the story went slow to me 1 or 2 times. Overall though, i did enjoy it. I liked seeing the story progress and build up over and over and I liked seeing the match of wits between Light and L. The chemistry there between those two was spot on. The story developed for the most part perfectly and had a proper ending. Despite the fact i said it didn't set well with me, i'm over it and realized it was a suitable ending. Overall all the way through i rarely found myself bored and was most of the time invested in the story.
So in all this was a great anime and i'd recommend it to ANY Anime fans. Other people in general as well. I plan on re watching this again and for 37 episodes it's more than worth the time.
Hope this helped, if you somewhat agreed with this give it a thumbs up (:

As some of you know the Naruto movies aren't anything special but that's not to say you can't enjoy them right?
First off i'll say i did enjoy this a bit more than the first movie, the action was a bit better and the story wasn't predictable compared to the first. That doesn't mean the story is anything that special but it worked and i was somewhat interested and overall i enjoyed watching it. The plot is nothing crazy, it didn't have any plot twists or unexpected events but it was a thorough and solid story without any plot holes.
The animation looked better this time around
...
too, obviously because technology improves every year but like I said it was better. The characters moved alot more fluently and the action scenes looked smoother, the environments stood out to me as looking alot more detailed and lush as well. The soundtrack wasn't anything good, quite forgettable actually but i'm not expecting much from a movie after all...Still i can't tell if it was simply underused or just not good. The overall sounds were good, all of the overall sound effects sounded crisp and clear and it was pleasant to listen to in headphones.
The characters were good, some of my favorite scenes had to do with Gaara and Kankuro who acted as guests. I like both of these characters so it was nice to see them in the movie and not underused, watching Gaara and Kankuro fight was very cool to see considering Gaara has some of the strongest jutsu in the original series. Naruto, Sakura and Shikamaru acted as the main characters and it worked as always. Shikamaru didn't do much but he had his moments and he's a nice presence. The Antagonists this time around impressed me more than the last, even though i knew ultimately Naruto was going to win. This time though, it did feel more intense and the villians gave Naruto and the others much more of a struggle. The end fight especially stood out as being the best part of the movie, Naruto did something that i won't spoil with his Rasengan that was actually really cool. The one thing that bothered me though was the whole "utopia" idea that acted as the bad guys plan. In short, they wanted to make the world a peaceful utopia by using this "thing" that the plot revolved around. The peace aspect is nothing new, but the utopia idea felt kinda out of place. Even the antagonists armor and technology felt out of place, however it had a nice aesthetic to it and it looked cool so i will give it that.
Overall it was a solid plot, nothing left unanswered and no plot holes. The characters were good as usual, Gaara and Kankuro were nice editions and the new characters were cool and did what they needed to do. The animation was very good and it sounded great despite the mediocre soundtrack. The story wasn't anything incredible but it wasn't predictable and i was entertained throughout. The action scenes were all very well executed, they were unique and didn't drag on and didn't feel too short. There were some nice light hearted moments as always that made for a good touch. In all, I enjoyed it. If you're a fan of Naruto you'll enjoy it, if you don't like the anime then this isn't gonna change your mind. Nevertheless, fans of the show you would enjoy yourselves just as i did as long as you don't expect anything extraordinary.
7/10
Hope this helped (:

The first Naruto movie may not be a memorable one, but it's certainly enjoyable at the least. The story doesn't stand out to be anything that great at all. In fact it's actually quite predictable, that doesn't mean it wasn't decent though. While it is a typical Naruto story there's still some enjoyment in the action scenes and the emotional dialogue scenes. The conclusion also was in typical Naruto fashion which as always was a nice touch. The animation worked as always, and was enhanced for the movie making the environments and characters look and move around better. The sound was crisp and clean and
...
the soundtrack comprised of original songs and tracks from the anime worked as well. The characters are a mix of the main protagonists from the series, some new ones as well as new antagonists as well. This is a bit disappointing though, considering the villains were made out to look fairly strong in the first encounter with our heroes but were defeated fairly easily in the next fight. I do like the concept of the Hidden Snow Village, it was kinda cool but we didn't see much of them. The story revolved around a princess, she was a typical predictable character at best. She had her moments and she was functional, but you can't help but notice the typical scenario of the rogue personality type who eventually finds the good in herself blah blah. Like i said though, she was functional and worked in the story. The main villain wasn't that interesting, after his plan was revealed there wasn't really a sense of urgency because the story doesn't do anything to make you believe he can really execute his plan. He and his allies do show off some cool Jutsu, and watching them fight with team Kakashi was pretty cool because of the unique jutsu of the snow ninja and the better animation. If the story had a bit more depth it would've made the movie as a whole better. Still, like i said, the movie did have its moments and by the end i wasn't completely dissapointed.
In all the story is nothing great, it's predictable and the story itself is nothing great. I still enjoyed it however, the snow ninja and action sequences are cool. The animation and sound are good quality as always and the ending is lighthearted and a nice touch. The conclusion is actually one of the highlights in my opinion, but anyway if you're a fan of Naruto you'll like the movie. It could've been better but i enjoyed it anyway.
7/10. Hope this helped (:

Out of the 3 OVA released so far, the first is the standout. It focus's on interesting characters that i wanted to see more of in the main anime so that's a plus. Zoë is a character with a very...unique personality, which is both interesting and entertaining since she's very unconventional. Levi and his squad are the supporting characters and it's nice to see them because i personally enjoy their characters and i wish they were around more in the anime. I'm not sure whether or not to consider this one filler, since it did seem story focus'd but vaguely. The episode talks about the
...
Titans and shows something about them that we haven't seen before so it's cool to speculate what it's about. Overall the story on this one was fun to watch unfold and interesting.
The second was just fine, it worked as a typical filler. I like how it focus'd on one of the show's strongpoints - the characters. Jean and Sasha were the main characters for this one, with Armin, Reiner and some others acting as the support including General Pixis. The story is very odd, focusing on a cook-off. Though this doesn't mean i wasn't entertained, especially towards the end the episode took a wacky turn which was actually pretty funny. It also characterized Jean and gave him a bit more back story showing he's a very kind hearted person in short. It was also nice to see more of Sasha as well since she's on of my favorite characters
The third was good as well, i don't really know who the focus is on this one, it told a story about a training exercise gone wrong. It followed Eren, marco, Jean, and the rest of Eren's squad prior to the second Titan attack in the second wall. The story wasn't that intense since we already know all the characters survive via seeing them in the main story that takes place after this episode does. The antagonists didn't really feel so threatening either, but watching the cadets fight them was pretty entertaining as well as seeing the interplay and chemistry between the characters. There were some funny moments and it was mildly entertaining so I don't have any big gripes with it. Overall it was good.
The OVA are nothing amazing like i said, but they're very entertaining nonetheless and i enjoyed watching it. The first episode is the standout of course so i recommend watching that one at least. If you're a fan of the show the other two are fun to watch as well but if you don't like fillers then it's not your thing. Personally i didn't mind the filler story and i enjoyed it so i gave it a 7.
Hope this helped (:

The more i heard about Attack on Titan, the more i wanted to watch it. Most of my friends praised it for "how good it was." Of course this was on my list, and after i finished "Shiki" I knew i couldn't put it off anymore. Did it live up to it's hype? In a word, Yes.
First off, the animation is spot on gorgeous. From the opening to the end, everything looks beautiful. This is possibly the best animation i've seen yet, the CGI effects work good with the animation and it doesn't stand out as looking out of place. All the character designs
...
are unique and well animated. During action scenes, it doesn't lose quality and each action sequence can look different from the last. The sounds are on point as well...the music goes well with the parts they're put in and the music isn't overused. From the sounds of Titans stomping, to soldiers drawing their swords everything sounds crisp and clean. The show is set in the year 845-850, everything has an old-timy look, while having its own unique aesthetic. While the show is set far in the past the weapons or tools have a semi-modern look to them while keeping their own unique design and not being out of place. Every scene is shot very well, rarely there will be a dull scene. Even scenes containing mainly dialogue are executed very well.
On to the characters...The cast of this show have amazing and interesting personalities which were showcased very well and not over done. They were all very interesting and entertaining to watch. While the show has a fairly large cast of characters, it doesn't fall into the trap of having too much, some characters do get more screen time than others which is a bit disappointing but that's a small complaint. The main cast of characters; Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are characterized very well and as the story carries on you grow attached to them and the supporting characters as well. Some of the support cast such as Levi are awesome characters, and while they are show stealers they don't totally eclipse the main cast which is good. One group of four characters in particular, i found myself caring deeply about them only after 2-3 episodes of being introduced to them. Like i said before, all their personalities are fleshed out well and they are all unique and interesting characters. Sasha, Reiner and Jean were some of my favorites aside from Levi and Mikasa being the best in my opinion. The show does a good job of showing growth as well, in the beginning i found Armin whiney and rather annoying, but towards the end i actually liked him. Jean started out as an arrogant selfish jerk, and towards the end i liked him as well. In terms of characterization, this show delivered perfectly.
The story was very good as well, sometimes i will admit i found myself a bit bored more in the beginning. Once the story picked up however, i was much more interested and my desire to watch grew. The show didn't have cliffhanger endings to most of the episodes, but i was still eager to watch which is impressive how the show had that effect on me. The story took quite a few twists and turns, and was written very well with no plot holes and no wasted time on filler like episodes. Flashbacks were only used when necessary, which was seldom. When the anime started, it was a pretty simple premise. As the story progressed, it evolved far past that and became something very unique and interesting, with obvious room for continuation by the end. Certain episodes would focus on specific characters which i liked alot. The story was centralized around Eren mainly and the rest of the army, but certain episodes and parts of episodes would zero in on specific events which was done well and kept me entertained. The ending gave plenty of closure with obvious room for season 2 (which is coming.)
In all this was an amazing anime, the only cons are things you have to sit down and nitpick. Attack on Titan was a very solid, consistent and unique anime all the way through. It was interesting, entertaining and delivered a good story which evolved past what it was made to look like from the beginning. I enjoyed watching it alot and i'd definitely watch it again. To anyone thinking about giving this a chance i highly recommend it if you like dark fantasy or action genre anime.
Hope this review helped (:

Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are my favorite anime, but i'm going to stick to my guns and give this show an honest review.
Most people who have watched anime have seen Naruto at one point, the same goes for One Piece. For me, the face that i've been watching the show for so long kept me pulled in to keep watching when i started the series beginning to end for the first time. For other people who didn't grow up with the show this same "pull" may not apply, especially for the first couple of episodes the show starts off rather slow just as most
...
other anime or shows. Nevertheless i'd still recommend Naruto to anyone especially as a starter anime.
Now on to the review :p
The animation is good, nothing special but it's not bad at all especially for its time. the voice acting still holds up as spot on emotional at some times performances. This applies for both the Japanese and English dub though i do recommend the English. The story is great, some if not most episodes end in cliffhangers making me want to watch more. The show is well balanced with action and dialogue/story moments. Aside from some crappy fillers, the episodes do a good job building up the story and telling it well. Some fillers are good and fun to watch, while others seem like a complete waste of time. up until the 100's there are hardly any fillers at all and the story stays consistent with build up and excellent storytelling. The story does a good job at showing progression throughout the series, the characters mature and change and the story evolves. When one arc ends, a new one starts keeping its roots to the central story but being different at the same time to not just feel like you're seeing the same thing over again. The characterization is one of the show's best features, as the story goes on, you genuinely start to care about these characters and understand them well. Certain characters are kept mysterious when they need to be, and it's interesting to see their intentions revealed over time. With other character's it's nice to watch some change and mature as the show progresses on. The story isn't full of crazy plot twists or intense action though. However this is only part 1 of the series so it's done like that for obvious reasons i guess. The action at some points is spot on and can be surprising as well, but like i said the show can sometimes lack a real intensity.
Basically that's everything, i didn't truly have any gripes with the show, but it's obviously nothing outstanding and perfect. Still Naruto is a great show nonetheless and i'd highly recommend it.
I apologize if this review was bad, but i hope i can help at least a few people (:

The shiki specials were really good enough said.
I recommend watching these in order because they explain what happens to some of the characters and gives the story alot more depth. 20.5 i'd say is the standout, it focus's on Nao, one of the show's more interesting characters and it shows alot about her intensions that is in kindof a black and white area. When you start realizing what's inside her head you notice it's more of a grey area and not just black and white. I can't go into spoilers but i'd watch it for yourselves. 21.5 is interesting as well, it get's a bit
...
bizzare towards the end but it gave another few characters a well done backstory that isn't explored much in the main 22 episodes. Just like 20.5, it shows alot of humanity in everything that's going on and it makes you think; what would you do in that situation. The specials show how hard some decisions truly are, and they don't feel shoehorned in. They feel very genuine and real which makes it alot easier to connect to. So in all these specials were great, good character development and closure for some characters without feeling completely like just filler. Like i said, if you're watching the show make sure to watch these two episodes as well.
I know that was probably terrible but i hope it helped some of you guys :p

Okay, lets try this again since my last review didn't go so well :p
I finished Shiki just recently and i was very pleased with it especially in the beginning. The exposition was suspenseful and exciting. I noticed some people didn't like the slow start, i guess it's preference because i seemed to enjoy the build up. There was a vast cast of characters, typically these characters would be cannon fodder or they would lack substance. The cast of Shiki was the opposite. The show made you care for the characters and developed them well. Dr. Ozaki specifically had an really good voice acting performance. There
...
were one or two characters that were slightly annoying and came off as whiney, or were slightly underused, but saying this is nit picking. Now back to the story, there was a slow build up but it was necessary to introduce the large cast of characters, and to build tension and anticipation. It also acted as a hook to keep me wanting more. Also, it felt pretty grounded even though it's obvious fiction. The animation looked great, all the colors and designs were pretty and fun to look at. The first intro suited the series well and the second wasn't half bad. And the score for the series sounds really good and suits the anime well. The sounds are very eerie and dark which is good. The middle of the anime is the best in my opinion. For some reason the ending didn't set as well with me as i was expecting. There were some things that were left un answered and some characters i felt just died for no reason at all. But overall there weren't really any plot holes and the story was great all the way through. I liked how in the beginning there was a mystery element which was interesting. So overall this was a great anime, i'm gonna buy it on blue ray and i most definitley recommend this as a starter anime for those just getting into the genre like i am. Or i'd recommend it to anyone in general.
Hope this review was helpful (:
