Look it up on Wikipedia. "In 2005 it won in the general category of the Shogakukan Manga Award along with A Spirit of the Sun."
Why do you think they even MADE an anime of it? 'Cause just three people loved it. NO. It was appreciated by many people in Japan.

What a biased and unsupporting way to start a review. Especially if the reader does not think the same.

It is not unique but it is rare these days. All war dramas are following the same pattern since Barefoot Gen.

The characters were nothing but realistic. Sane people do not act so good nor do they accept faults or allow to be killed for high ideals by internal warfare. Also, the plot is extremely repetitive and dumb.

Not me. Many others found it stupid as well. You assume too much here and it passes as bad.

I did look at it with a mature mind. It is not realistic. It is based on shock effect where unrealistic people are plassed in a realistic setting. If you really did see this in a real mature way, you would realize how terribly fake they are.

Sorry to ruin it for you but this show is not classic at least not globally. It is way too corny and repeptitive for today's demands and will be forgotten in a few years.
