The plot consists of many encounters with various magical or Church-related wrongdoers and unraveling mysteries of the city. Wide cast of characters contains both magic users and regular humans. A teenage boy goes to a new school and meets a bunch of weird people, among them a cute, but socially inept girl, who claims to be a supernatural being. Although the main character is skeptical about this, he participates in "discovering" various supernatural phenomena, even though nothing extraordinary actually occurs. Also, both shows have a beautiful animation.

Girls & Panzer

Main character is a girl, who doesn't like a certain game despite being very good at it. This has something to do with her family, mainly her older sister. In her school, she gets dragged to a team, where she makes new friends and gets to like the game. Then they go to a tournament, meet many opponents (cute girls) from other schools and play against all of them, while making their way to the final. We get to know girls from different teams, who are very diverse and likable (some of them even more than the main characters). Even though Saki isn't action-oriented, mahjong matches are equally intense as tank battles thanks to high amount of special effects and superpower-like abilities of the characters. Overall, Girls & Panzer is more, let's say kids-friendly, as fights aren't really violent and relations between characters are very kind. Saki is also rather light-hearted, yet contains a little bit of fanservice and borderline yuri moments.

Identity and "human and machine" themes. Very psychological, sometimes scary and difficult to understand. Characters dealing with mental problems and loneliness. For the most part, NGE is less chaotic, has more lighthearted moments and diverse characters.
