I usually don't watch ecchi or things that I think won't appeal to me very much unless it's a sort of "it's so bad it's good" kinda deal, or I'm just bored. I don't usually have a preference for genres, but I do like things that are psychological in nature. Some genres I don't watch period. You could just rate them by the amount of enjoyment you get from them instead of rating them in a more professional, critical approach. I'm more of a critic and put all of the works on the same playing field to be fair to all of them
I rate them in overall quality, not pertaining to any sort of genre. A lot of genres just cater to a certain audience that wants to be regurgitated the same thing over and over for the most part, which is not for me lol, so I just review the impact the piece had on me and give it what I think is deserved out of 10
Hey, thanks for the friend request, and yeah, that is pretty high lol. :) Anyways, I consider Death Note a masterpiece after the
death of L because he lives on through Near and Mello and without the information L had obtained on Light during the time before his death, Light likely would have never been caught. Ultimately, at least the way I see it, L may have died, but he upheld the justice he believed in and prevented Light from creating his own autocratic world where only the people he considered "bad" would be eliminated. The whole show was a battle between those two, even if one was living and the other was dead. At first, I was not fond of Near, but I grew to understand his purpose and realize that he was very necessary and most likely the best solution for the show at that point. If Light killed L and nobody else was there to stop him, then Kira would be an unstoppable ruler that would take over the world, which wouldn't really get the point of the show across. The great thing about Death Note is that NOBODY wins. Nobody's sense of justice is seen as "right" in the end because all of those characters with an outspoken sense of it are no longer living. The only one that lives and has importance regarding the theme of justice is Matsuda, who serves as a kind of balance between all the clashing viewpoints of what justice really is, as he questions these viewpoints multiple times throughout the show, staying relatively neutral most of the time. He is the moral majority that has a more grey sense of justice. Matsuda never had any real drive to uphold his sense of justice as the "right" sense of justice. He just did what he thought was right, so he lives. I guess to summarize this, I love how the theme of justice wraps up the whole series and without the events post L's death, it wouldn't be nearly as impactful or really consistent. Also, the final scene is one of the bests in the show, no doubt. I really like how it ends, it's the best ending that could've played out for the show.
Indeed you are correct the scoring system should be a graph where each point is gradually more difficult to get but that is also not really how i see MAL's system since it only has 4-5 "good" scores and that is in my opinion to few they should have at least 8 or 9"good" scores that just depict the score not the "average", "good", "masterpiece" and such i think that's kinda bad. and thank you for your salute :P i appriciate that you respect my opinion of how i liked the show since many i discuss shows i've watched just go "umm you thought X show was great but not show Y you must be retarded" and it pisses me off
You are probably no most likely right in regards to how i should rate what i watch but then again why would i adjust how i rate a show because of the "general" opinion about the show so to speak.
but the comment about plastic memories was just a tease to be fair since you questioned my scores of SAO II and Sousei it was not to hate on your opinion of the anime since that would just contradict what i said about scoring based on enjoyment but i can agree that the Sci-fi part was sort of just tossed away very quickly but that didn't really matter to me because i only started watching the show since i had heard that it was a very sad anime and those are my favorite kind as you can probably notice by my name on here and the scores i gave to Anohana,Angel beats Clannad etc.
And i wasn't saying you were hating on my profile btw :P
As i wrote in my review of Sousei i watch anime to enjoy it and i rate anime i watch based on how much i enjoy them and Clannad is indeed a lot better then both of them but the scale is only 1-10 and half of those are "bad" scores if there were more positive scores i would have given a lot of anime much different scores.
But since that's not the case i have opted to give 10's to shows that i thoroughly enjoyed like SAO 2 and SAO which get way to much hate even tho they are not the best and in regards to SAO 2 it got a 10 ONLY because of the Mother rosario ark but even if it only had the GGO ark i would have given it an 8.
So please don't judge someone over how they rate an anime since we all watch anime to enjoy it and imo if you don't enjoy a show drop it don't finish it since you are not enjoying it i only finish shows i really enjoy hence why i barely have any with bad scores i just drop the show and i don't add it to my list on here.
So again they have the same score because i really enjoyed both and ima succer for anything romance, action and drama.
