Like I said in my "interest stack", this show has an interesting premise ruined by the writer's inability to write a MC that grows in any interesting manner whatsoever.
Till the beginning to the end, MC acts like a moron. It goes from "charming" to "is he retarded?" when he keeps mistaking every situation for what it isn't. He even encounters the enemy leader clad in gold and his first response is, "What is this old guy doing here wearing all gold?" Dear lord, this isn't charming. You have to be touched in the head to find this shtick entertaining for more than two episodes.
I swear
...
most anime is just this on a loop. A good premise, ruined by some average writer.
Ignoring the obvious flaws with the character development, the visuals are surprisingly good and the action is fun. I actually liked that the MC didn't have a harem of bimbos drooling over him 24/7 as well. As long as MC doesn't act special, he's a likable nice guy, not some OP prick.
If there is ever a season 2, I would just like them to tone down the bimbo levels and make the MC live in the real world for a change. But then, it kinda feels like the entire premise is based around the MC being aloof and "being able to parry everything", so not sure if the writer can make the season 2 interesting without them both. I mean, if the MC isn't an idiot, he would've been able to work hard and learn new skills other than parry, and not waste time cleaning gutters for a living.
Anyway, 6/10, enjoyable enough despite the flaws.

Started watching this anime in 2023, then stopped and never went back. It's 2024, so I decided to finally re-watch and finish watching it, only to realize why I stopped watching it.
Interesting premise, the first episode is OK and you think it'll get better, but it doesn't. I'll just list everything wrong with this anime:
- Dogshit art and animations. They are BAD. I have never seen an anime where they messed up animation for walking up/downstairs this badly. It's like whoever drew these characters was animating for the first time in his life. This issue doesn't get any better as the show progresses.
- Art is
...
the least of this anime's issues. The garbage-tier characters written with the most boring generic backstories make the whole thing feel like a chore. They dedicate like 5 fucking episodes to these moronic main characters and their backstories, while only one or two (max) episodes would've been more than enough.
- Idol concert. Really? Fucking really? What world is this even? It isn't a secret where they're going with it. Anyone with a functioning brain will be able to figure out the plot quickly, but that still won't make the fucking idol and otaku nonsense feeling out of place. The main protagonist doing this otaku shit isn't even written like he would be the one interested in it. Is he supposed to be a serious character? Who the fuck knows, every character is written confusingly where comedy bits are thrown in to ruin any immersion completely.
- Annoying as fuck pedo/shota character shows up half-way through, and just won't STFU.
- Stale comedy, uninteresting plot. Nothing works. I mean it, NOTHING works.
- Gender-bender male MC. This is one of those anime which pretends to be normal, only to have the MC turn into a woman half-way through. If you're into that kind of cucked MC depictions, this will do. Well actually no, this anime is still worse than just a character transforming into another gender.
Watch this if you're really desperate. It's Netflix anime level trash.

I have mixed feelings about this show. The focus on tennis is fun and what makes this anime worth watching, but the fact that every other character in the story has some family trauma is unrealistic and takes you out of the show as well.
What are the odds that out of 10 friends 9 of them have some crazy (and I mean abuse levels through the roof) family/life issues going on?
Art is average, same goes for audio. Don't expect anything interesting from any character that doesn't involve family trauma. Anyone other than the boys might as well not exist.
Doesn't look like this will ever get
...
a season 2 as well and it ends on a (terrible) cliffhanger, so don't get your hopes up.

Interesting premise, average isekai.
Characters other than MC and Peeps might as well not exist. World itself is trying to do too much while somehow still having so little. It's impressive how generic it all feels. The worst are the "psychics" and how they hilarious fight using their.. guns.. not any psychic abilities. Dumbest thing I've ever seen.
Also, can I just say how fake the "aww so cute" moments of Sasaki feel like with Peeps? They feel forced and fake.
Art is fine, no complaints. Sound is there, I guess, nothing stood out to me in the anime concerning audio.
Anyway, watch it to see how a good
...
premise is squandered.

A tear-jerker, that's definitely over-hyped.
Sure I shed tears on the right cues, so I could've rated it higher, but the fact remains.. this anime is just average.
- Things aren't explained. Random events just happened. Stupid flying dragons suddenly turning red and dying, with no explanation. They don't even bother explaining much about the "EVIL EMPIRE" (people seem to be happy, was the empire even evil or not?).
- The loom nonsense is just a bunch of gobbledygook with elves (or "Iorph", whatever they wanna call Elves in this) being all depressive and child-like (can't have anime without sexualizing 5000 year old children). Only time anything with
...
"loom" was interesting, was in the movie Wanted (2008), and it was because of the action, not because of fucking thread weaving skills of the characters.
- Plot-holes maketh the plot, so do the jump-cuts. This movie needed another 30-60 mins to fill in the lore. Characters not only age every few mins, they even have background romance and suddenly are popping children while the viewer is left wondering, "Dafuq, did they even have any chemistry in that 10 second scene an hour ago?". Maybe if they didn't spend time on pointless lingering shots of characters crying, they could've added some dialogue and lore, minus the jump-cuts.
Art is good, English dub is garbage (muffled dialogues with music blaring in on max volume). Main character is just a weird mess who spends the whole movie crying, ending the movie crying. Movie just randomly ends and you now have to figure out who the new characters are, not that it matters as the movie rushes to end the movie.
Overall, I just felt disappointed at the end. I did like the last scene of the fields, it was beautifully done.. which is why I gave it 5, not 4.
Art saves it, story is a mess. If you shed tears during emotional scenes easily (like I do), you'll do here as well. But don't mistake those tears for quality. Those tears are NOT quality tears.

Did.. did the protagonist just get cucked by the anime staff?
I don't care much about "harem" anime. The whole reason I watched it, because it seemed like a chill farming isekai anime. But it has a harem bit going on, so whatever, I'm not offended by it, no matter how unrealistic the harem bit looks in every anime ever (maybe 2 exceptions).
This anime was going fine. Art is good, things move along just fine, generic music and SFX, not really any complaints. I wasn't expecting an Oscar winning story and characters, but the characters were fine.
The thing is, for a "harem" anime, the protagonist acted
...
like his dick was left behind on Earth while he was isekai'd to another world. He shows no interest in girls practically begging him to breed their entire civilization, and goes out of his way to create separate baths where he can be alone, maybe with kids later on. But sex? I gave up on the guy ever getting it on, since viagra was something he still hadn't asked anyone to research, unlike Miso and vinegar. Perfectly normal, for a Japanese guy I guess.
Then in the 7th episode out of 12 episodes, suddenly the vampire is pregnant. I had to double-check, in-case I missed an episode where they showed a budding romance, forget actual fucking. SPOILERS: They didn't.
Vampire and the protagonist have the chemistry of a rock. Just a rock. Nothing else. An uninteresting rock.
But apparently, they were banging behind the scenes and she was the first one his missing dick impregnated.
Don't think for a second I actually wanted to see them bang. Nothing is more uninteresting to me than hentai or cartoon porn. I don't give a flying fuck about it. BUT, at-least for plot purpose, show them actually have something romantic going on between them. You have 12 fucking episodes of a guy who was sick in his previous life, coming up with culinary delights which you definitely haven't seen in every fucking anime ever. But sex? Romance? He never wanted that, he wanted to cook and farm while lying on hospital bed in his previous life. So I guess no need to show something as boring as "romance" when the character can waste time till the FUCKING END OF THE SHOW talking about how aged and bottled wine would taste amazing.
Dafuq is this?
I would've given this show 7/10 up until episode 7 when the vampire got pregnant giving birth to Isekai Jesus (only explanation of pregnancy). 5/10 now just because of the cucked MC who spent more time demanding men be sent to his village cause "there were too many women". If you ever wondered why Japan suffers from low birth rates, then the writer of this anime is the perfect example of why.

Is it just me or do they not exactly clarify what they do for a living?
Maybe I forgot, because I started watching this anime last year and only now finished watching it. But it feels like everything they do is just vague, "Did you file that paper?" or "I have a presentation with client." stuff most anime do, trying to make it look like they do something.
Anyway, THAT bit aside, this anime is just OK. The height joked got old after the first episode, so the rest of the show wasn't left with anything else. There are no exciting encounters, no fan service, setting is
...
just regular Japan and the relationship between MC and her "senpai" feels platonic.
Really, it feels like the writer had a loli fetish.. a loli working a serious job in drab business clothes. That's why the anime exists. Either that or it's supposed to be propaganda to show how exciting generic office work in Japan is (because all those people committing suicides definitely aren't good PR).
I can't even talk much about anything. This anime has nothing going on for it. The art is alright, music.. who cares, ambience is dead like every other anime and script is shit with jokes as exciting as watching paint dry.
I'll give it 5/10.
It's just a generic slice of boring work life anime which you can finish in one setting, or like me, in two years because it's meh. They didn't even had a good ending in mind. It just ends with a generic episode that somehow felt more generic than the rest of the show.

I know this exists to prepare you for season 2 and all, but.. why is it so bad?
Couldn't even be arsed to make it interesting? No character stands out, nothing interesting happens. In-fact, whole episode could've been summarised as 2-3 flashbacks in a regular episode.
While we're at it, the art is just awful compared to the first season. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come with season 2. Kinda like how "Shield Hero" season two ended up being ultimate garbage, I am hoping this show doesn't go down the same road.
Anyway, you can watch this if you're dying to know
...
the most generic backstory in existence.
5/10 - Because it's still part of the lore, just not very good part.

The fact that they didn't start this series with an actual origin story, turning episode 1 into a prequel movie, should tell you what kind of shit-show you're dealing with here.
At-least this movie is slightly better than the actual series, probably because Tatsuya isn't surrounded by a harem constantly jacking him off, worshiping his every move. The annoying as shit sister, with the personality of a loli-incest fuck-doll made in Japan, is less annoying, at-least until she begins her incestuous brother worship by the end of the movie.
Art is the same as the show, nothing mind blowing happening here. Art was never the issue
...
with this series. The comedic background music track that plays over everything that the director thinks is "cool" in the series, is missing from the movie, which is a welcome surprise.
Plot, however, remains a shitshow.
The fact that even in the backstory, the origin story, Tatsuya is still an OP demigod, doesn't help. In good Isekai shows, the protagonist starts weak and gets stronger. But this fucking show refuses to make the protagonist weak, even in the origin story. The hack writer who came up with this dribble as an excuse to simp on a fictional loli, probably finds it hard to get off without the power fantasy being ON 24/7.
I guess since this is the origin story, it didn't give the writer enough time to offload his pointlessly detailed explanations on run-of-the-mill magic spells that every other fucking fantasy hero just.. casts, without going into hour long explanations. So that's another piece of good news.
If you were expecting something exciting in Tatsuya's past though, don't. A generic harem Isekai with a generic story being given top rating on this site by thirsty fanbase. That's all this show is.
5/10
Watch this before season one btw. There isn't anything that acts as a spoiler for season one.

Isekai protagonists being OP and worshiped by NPC's isn't anything new. In-fact, we enjoy watching Isekai shoes because of the OP power fantasy coming true in front of our eyes.
But it's how the OPMC character is written, can make or break the show.
It's necessary to introduce the character to his skills, along with the viewers, so together we get into the groove of things. We see the MC learn to control his abilities, use them in OP manner and wow himself and us, the viewers. MC grows, getting stronger, more sure of himself and his skills over time. It's all fun.
It's also necessary to not
...
write a smug, douche or cucked OPMC character, because those are the worst traits you could possibly have for an Isekai character.
"In Another World With My Smartphone" is a good example of a shit, OP, cucked character, while "The Irregular at Magic High School" is a good example of a smug, douchey character.
TATSUYA SHIBA ---
-----------------------
He can do no wrong. Has a incestuous relationship with his "sister", and every girl wants to fall on his dick the moment he enters the room. Just like any other Japanese male, he is not only epitome of manliness but strong, smart and worshiped like a demigod by the lesser races around the world. I repeat, this is not a mere human being, this is a god and we should be honored to witness his adventures.
MIYUKI SHIBA ---
---------------------
Representing the side of the underage love interest (Japan), is the "sister", aka, the "Fuck-Doll". That's her entire personality. She spends the entire anime swooning, worshiping and defending her poor brother (burdened by the burden of awesomeness).
POINTLESS MAGIC DRIBBLE (PMD) ---
-----------------------------------------------
Like in that shitty Smartphone anime, this show also has its own unique magic system. By "unique", I mean that they throw a bunch of words at the viewer trying to sound smart. No one is sitting around remembering this shit. If you've ever played JRPG's and witnessed the art of pointlessly complicating basic RPG mechanics with random new words, then this is the anime for you.
At the heart of the magic system in this anime, the OPMC is basically using shit like magic cancellation and flight (basic magic spells), but using random dribble of words to make it sound smarter. I can't stress this enough. It's trying so hard to sound smart, it sounds beyond fucking stupid and at one point, I started laughing hearing them discuss OSCILLATION THEORIES FROM TEH FUTURE to describe like.. moving..
It's so fucking stupid.
ART / MUSIC / SOUNDS ---
---------------------------------
I don't have complaints with the art. In-fact, art was the first thing that made me wanna watch the show, premise second. I REALLY wanted to watch this anime for a long time, and I regret every second of it. But the art did not disappoint. It isn't mind-blowing, but it's just fine.
Music.. I guess it is nice. But random music playing in the background of OPMC doing and saying generic RPG shit became comical and ruined any entertainment I could have squeezed out of the music. Every time that guy does something "cool" (in the mind of the director), the fucking background track starts playing like we're seeing something ground-breaking, something that we will discuss for eons after witnessing this anime.
The "sounds" department. Like, ambience and more, this anime falls flat like every other anime or cartoon show. Can't blame them. Livening up a world isn't something anyone focuses on, not even in games. So meh.
THE END ---
---------------
I watched this series twice. Why?
First time, I was super excited, watched this like a year ago and ended up giving this 4/10.
But sometimes, I decide to re-watch some shows I give lower ratings, just in-case I missed something others were enjoying. This helped me change the Overlord series rating (all 1/10 initially) to varied ratings based on the quality of the seasons (the new season was actually way better for Overlord).
After rewatching "The Irregular at Magic High School", I changed my rating from 4/10 to 1/10. And I'm rating this after watching everything, from season 1 to 2, including movies.
Hope that helped.
