You know you are in trouble, when you started watching an anime, stopped to take a break, only to come back two years later wondering why you never completed it. I should've just marked this fucking anime as "dropped", but I just HAD to rewatch it thinking maybe I just forgot to finish it.
Big mistake.
How should I even describe this clusterfuck of generic, annoying characters with one of THE most uninteresting use of superpowers in fiction, ever?
Well, our story begins with..
.. EPISODE - 1
...
MC Yuu has a personality, then he meets Annoying Bitch (AB) Tomori, who is a replacement of those annoying male MC's who yell and scream while being unrealistically violent, making you wonder what medical condition they are suffering from any why psychiatrists aren't a thing in Japan.
By the end of this episode, any personality from the only (sort of) interesting character is drained out, and thus begins one of THE most uninteresting stories in existence, where they run around just finding kids with superpowers and telling them to "Not be naughty with your powers, else those SCIENTISTS WILL EXPERIMENT YOU!!" And yes, the kids pinky swear they won't, then the fucking episode ends.
Shitty writer of this crapfest expects you to suspend your disbelief to the point where you have to imagine dumbfuck scientists of this world thinking "Oh no, the kid lost power, whelp, that's a useless subject, time to move on guys.", instead of still experimenting to learn more about the body of a power holder, how they function, can their powers be revived, etc.
Anyway, you can keep analyzing the shitty premise forever, so let me skip, for a good reason to..
.. EPISODE 7
Episode 2-6 are basically the MC doing the same shit with the "student council", where the AB runs them around making power wielders pinky swear to never use their powers again. You might be ready to bash your head against the nearest wall hoping to forget these episodes at this point.
But wait, then episode 7 happens where the MC actually loses his sister, and feels natural human emotions, to the point where instead of being a cuck being constantly assaulted by AB, he actually goes out and starts hunting random thugs.
I'm talking Jason Bourne shit where he's suddenly dodging, controlling them and even stabbing them. The fucking show actually becomes entertaining.. until the AB returns at the end to put a stop to this, ruining the whole thing all over again.
At this point, the nearest wall might start looking like the sweet release from the suffering, but wait, it gets worse in the..
.. EPISODE 11
Behold the MC's transformation into a whiny bitch. Despite fighting multiple enemies on his own in EP7, he suddenly becomes beyond useless and is unable to deal with three regular enemies despite having multiple powers at this point, as opposed to one shitty power in EP7.
BTW, what happened to that muscular bad guy that showed up in the opening of this episode? I must've missed him.
This anime also has some of THE most uninteresting ways to implement..
.. POWERS
MC doesn't even have to fight anyone. He can just look at anyone and steal their powers., yet last episode is him going around fighting pointlessly and getting "tired" while those stupid flashcards keeps popping up like it means something.
—-----
There is so much wrong with this anime.
Whole series is about a bunch of kids with mostly useless abilities, who don't do anything useful with those abilities. These people are not heroes, only villains or just utterly useless in the majority of the situations they encounter.
The MC spends the whole series being yelled at, being beaten up, being blamed for shit he isn't at fault for (mostly by the AB). In-fact, if you think about it, him pretty much doing what he was doing in the first episode would've meant normal life for him, considering he was actually good at scamming people not only through his ability, but through his looks as well. He was far more competent than the moronic "student council" led by the AB, till the end of the first episode at-least.
Not to mention, like a shitty Marvel movie, even till the second last episode they keep doing "light hearted moments" with food porn (anime staple). It feels out of place with cheery music playing while MC is resting on bed after getting stabbed and losing a key character.
They also keep trying to push the "romance' between MC and the AB, which doesn't work because both of the chemistry of a pile of dung. Her character is so awfully written, annoying and abusive towards the MC, that her offering her abilities to MC at the end sounds selfish, like she's happy to be normal. Hell, she even says so.
Series ends with AB sitting by his bedside acting like she is some kind of a reward for the MC, with some of the most generic, casual, dialogue ever.
I should've dropped this anime. How is this show rated 7.75 out of 10? This should be 5/10 at best.
1/10 - To balance things out a bit.

If you thought Tomori's character was an annoying bitch in the original series, they turned her up a notch in this episode.
She spends the entire episode assaulting Otosaka, then proceeds to assault a kid, because that's the logical way of getting through kids suffering emotional issues. Now, I don't know if this character trait of hers is supposed to be "funny" or "quirky" but unless you're a sociopath, a character like this is not interesting or funny. Basically replace her with any male character in any anime designed to yell and get angry like a fucking moron in every scene. All it does, is make you ... Jun 16, 2023

Eh, it was OK.
I did find the high quality, 144 FPS (had to change my monitor refresh rate from 120 to 144 Hz) visuals to be.. interesting. Honestly, didn't see the point, since it looked like a low quality JRPG with 3D visuals than a anime show, but whatever, not a big deal. The issue is with the whole premise, and the fact that after episode 170 of the series, like thousand years ago, they released a movie that doesn't reference the series and is disjointed completely to the point that it makes no sense watching it after the series ended (at-least after EP170). Characters are pre-170, ... Nov 3, 2022
I understand that this anime is based on a game, which is usually not a good sign, but it seems like they tried to make an acceptable level of anime.. then sort of rushed through it when the budget ran out.
It's all in the end a generic cliche-fest JRPG storyline, and JRPG's aren't known to have some ground-breaking stories. So the only issue I have with this anime is, why the fuck is there a recap episode when the series is about to end, and why does it always feel like the writers had no clue how to progress the story? Most episodes feel like the ... Sep 25, 2022
The first season set up protagonist (shield hero), the underdog as someone who didn't trust people of the world he was summoned to (for good reason) and relied on himself and 2 of his companions to fight the good fight.
So the second season was anticipated by all fans for a reason. We wanted to see how strong he'll become, what new skills and adventures he'll had. Instead, we got a brain fart as season 2 where the shield hero is now a generic Isekai protagonist with a harem and is suffering from that rare disorder which forces him to now only speak like a 13 yr ... This is just bad.
I don't even want to call it average, it's just boring as fuck. This movie is basically a filler episode from Bleach. The "world heroes" mission is basically Japanese directors/writers sticking to 3-4 countries they know about (including America) and ending up in some generic European setting for the final action scene. Actually, I still can't tell where the fuck they were supposed to be since everything looked so generic. Then there's the garbage writing. The fact that Academia's cast is filled with poorly done "heroes" is not a secret. There are like 4-5 heroes that aren't annoying in the whole series, probably why ... Aug 14, 2022

I really, REALLY tried to watch Sabikui Bisco in one sitting. I couldn't. It took me FOUR MONTHS to go through this and I lived to tell the tale..
.. of how shit this show is. While Bisco is pounding that Panda bussy, let's reflect on the good times. There weren't any good times. This show started with a interesting setting but a incredibly stupid premise. A guy fighting "rust" with mushrooms. They are really running out of ideas in Japan I tell ya. I tried to do quick research on "Mushrooms and Rust" and ended up with results primarily from game Rust and people telling others to not ... Aug 12, 2022
I'll be honest, I enjoyed this anime way more than "The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2" garbage.
Look, most Isekai shows are bad. But you can tell when the director and writer is having fun with it and when it's just designed to be a show to rake in some sales without having any heart. At-least this anime knew it was trash and rolled with it, having fun till the end. Premise of an OP MC isn't anything new but most anime seem to find it hard to put a spin on it. Fruit of Evolution just kept rolling with one nonsense after another, ... Jul 19, 2022

This came out of nowhere and quickly became one of my favorite isekai shows.
I think the fact that they kept the "OMG TITS" moments to minimum and focused more on creating fun characters, alongside a protagonist that wasn't an insufferable twat, helped a lot here. MC had his dark moments, but is not taking himself too seriously all the time as well. Setting is fun, new discoveries and adventures are on the horizon, with the OP MC trying to understand his powers and the world itself, which is what I like about an isekai show. Oh and the last episode was actually very well done, going out ... Jul 5, 2022

After years of waiting for season 3, this is what they shat out?
Lemme keep this short, no point in wasting many words on this crapfest: - 12 EPISODES: This NEVER works. Every anime with such a small number cuts corners, and this is a perfect example. Whole thing feels like a filler anime focusing on nobody NPC's nobody gave a shit about in the first two seasons. - VILLAIN IN THE GLASSES: You'll need glasses to look for him because the protagonist acts like a backup character doing nothing but giving advice to NPCs while every generic random character takes the front seat, like you give a ... |
