This review may be slightly short, so bear with me. This could be seen as a controversial opinion, but please keep in mind I haven't read the manga for this series. Now, I understand that the series strayed from the manga and just cut out entire arcs, which is it's main downside, but as an anime-only this amounted to somewhat of an enjoyable experience. First I'll go over what I liked about it.
1. The art style remained consistent.
2. I am happy with where the story ended.
3. The soundtrack has maintained the same quality.
Now what I didn't like about it,
Of course I feel the studio should've
...
been faithful to the manga as it did feel slightly rushed, and even as an anime-only, I could tell that it was being rushed.
Secondly, I know everybody has given their two cents on the topic, but the suspense is gone, however, this I do not mind too much as I saw it as a natural progression for the series, but I did find myself missing the mystery.
Thirdly, the characters are now just one dimensional, in the first season, the characters had multiple and conflicting opinions leading to better development to their character through the conversations they had.
Finally, I felt that the ending was good and provided closure, but it all happened too fast. If they extended the season slightly, it would be nice to see more of these characters living in an environment that we're used to. And I feel that they cut out a lot of Emma, protecting the demon world, or whatever.
Although I gave it more negatives than positives, the reason I gave it a seven is simply because I haven't read the manga so I don't exactly know what they cut out. However, it definitely is a step down from the first season and I felt that the animation studio were definitely lazy with this adaptation.
