Omoide no Marnie is arguably the most emotional Ghibli movie ever made, and one of the most emotional anime movies ever made.

Karigurashi no Arrietty was a masterpiece and it's one of my favorite Ghibli films for sure!

I don't think he's as good as Miyazaki but Arietty was okay. It was sweet though a bit dramatic and little comedy.

This guy made a great movie! One of the things that stood out to me about Omoide no Marnie was the directing, so I respect this guy a bunch.

This man is amazing. Hope you win the Oscar with Omoide no Marnie

I was wondering why Omoide no Marnie's script was so messy and lazily written, and it turns out that it's based on a novel by British author Joan G. Robinson. Changing the novel's setting from England to Japan while keeping some key British elements intact and condensing its sketchy supernatural story of 200 pages into a 2 hour movie was not a very wise choice. He created a glorious clusterf*ck, although an aesthetically beautiful and atmospheric one at that.

Hope he'll become a director in some other studio soon, he got tons of potential, looking forward for the future works!
