I love F/Z. However, I find Ga-rei: Zero incredibly lacking in atmosphere. It feels so flat and dull. Although I really like the characters. I do find it odd, because F/Z was thrilling and high impact action. While everything in Ga-rei feels grey.

Also I hate Aldnoah. Although I love Knk's first movie. I don't know if I like you or dislike you o.o

His directing is very good but he seems to have problems with world-building. Still one of my favorite directors.

Unless directing one mega popular thing that was going to be so regardless automatically makes you a lifer top tier director/writer whatever who is untouchable and it kind of seems that way with anime then why is it this guy seems to be getting pushed so much as a top tier director. Honestly every show I've seen from him going back to Ga-Rei Zero is just so unrelentingly stiff with flat characters and quite often good seiyuu delivering lines as if they don't give a solitary shit and it's incredibly bizarre. The problem seems to get compounded whenever he's working with Gen Urobuchi scripts too who tends to write dialogue in that sort of flat stiff style that honestly seems like it would be hard for anyone to deliver well. They just seem like a poor match really, anyway agree with the guy that compared him to George Lucas as his knack for getting flat performances out of good actors creating curiously awkward droning dialogue scenes is oddly reminiscent of the man.

@Samu-Tan: I really didn't notice that big a difference between the first three episodes and the rest of the show other than it was very early in it's run and it still had time to decide where it wanted to go with things. Perhaps people would be better off just considering whether maybe that whole project was just ill-conceived from the get go and that the fault lies with just about everybody. It is possible for Gen Urobuchi to do sub par work, I don't know why people have such a hard time excepting it, I mean he is the original creator of the project after all, he does share his level of responsibility for it were it to be good or bad, but then why do I get this feeling that in some alternate universe where the show had gone on to be the smash hit genre show that it's creators wanted and he still only wrote three episodes that people would be heaping praise on Urobuchi as the sole reason for it's success instead of trying to deflect any and all criticisms of it away from him. Something like he got the ball rolling or it was his influence as original creator rubbing off on the project.

Anyway whatever, anime fans general inability to criticize that man even slightly is why I can hardly take him or his apparent infallible reputation seriously anymore. He's far from the only one that people just seem to heap praise on endlessly despite being little more than a bit player in the majority of anime that have been credited to him though.

Good Luck with the whole TROYCA thing! Hope it's a company to represent!

So...what I'm seeing is...The same guy who directed the AWESOME first season of Aldnoah, and Fate/Zero, is the SAME EXACT PERSON who directed Girls Bravo!?
Well, it's no wonder everything was amazing.

He directed both Fate/Zero and Hourou Musuko?! This guy is so versatile it's ridiculous...

Haters on here sure didnt notice the fault at Aldnoah lies at scriptwriter? This guy is an amazing director. His best work has to be Wandering Son while my personal favorite would be Ga-rei: Zero and commonly favorite from his directory would be Fate/Zero.

Samu-tan | May 5, 2015 2:52 AM
It's too bad that A.0's writer was so bad (excluding Urobuchi for the first 3 amazing episodes), because this is a very talented director. I can forgive him for A.0 S2, because F/Z, Ga-Rei Zero and Hourou Musuko are all amazing shows.
