- cutesy art style and character design, with dark undertones and a more complex plot with horror touches - same aesthetic (victorian nobility, doll vibe) - both of them talk about "dolls" and how much they're human (eg. Rozen Maiden having talking dolls which have actual human feelings and Shadows House having living dolls which resemble humans in all of their characteristics - good storytelling and overall unique plot

Peach-Pit’s greatest series, solid and addictive manga with great art and characters. The supernatural is a focal point in both, as the protagonist (Jun/Michiru) is an introverted person with a rather painful past who comes into contact (unwillingly at first) with beings who shouldn’t be alive: zombies in ZL, living dolls in RM. Also, Nori (Jun’s sister) & Michiru are very similar. Both are neither shoujo nor shounen and lack the usual tropes, but take a bit of both categories, and add some tragic and psychological aspects along with the horrorific ones.

Both have somewhat odd endings.

Similar to this manga in terms of puppet duels in an effort to become a perfect being to be loved, instead of being loved by the older brother Rozen maiden the puppets are seeking love from there father, same crazy duels and so forth

Same idea the main characters are bound to dolls with contracts.

You can pretty much see the similarities in the first chapter. Both main characters experience out of the ordinary things (ordinary in their lives, that is, since both characters were pretty messed up to begin with anyways...) after meeting with their contractor- which is another thing similar, by the way. They are suddenly put in the spot where they have to hold a contract with the doll/undertaker. Both seals for the contracts is a rose ring.

Characters that have and want to become "Alice", a title given to someone in a murder game (AYA) and to the perfect doll (RM). They are involved in a game where deaths can be caused and the mysterious scenario is often present with bits of comedy once in a while.

Rozen Maiden has a similar goth loli art style but better (and has an actual plot, it's a nice option if you read this and liked the style but not the story).

Dolls and rozen maiden share similarities on the fact that they are both about living dolls. Even though dolls is more about society and psychology while rozen maiden is about battles, they have the same feeling.

Rozen Maiden and Shinshi Doumei Cross both have a fancy aura. They both involve a would-be lady helping a poor angsty shut-in.

Both about girls fighting each other to achieve something involving 'Alice'.

Both involve living dolls (obviously in form of beautiful girls). Carnevale also has vampires and fanservice.

All about dolls who actually are alive. One is a shounen, the other is a shoujo. Many fights and some romance:D

Both series involve guys who end up caring for beautiful yet powerful artificial girls.

Creepy, but in a good way. Cute, but in a fashionable way. Funny, but in a dramatic way. And just enough to leave you hanging on until the next volume.
