There haven't been a single page that haven't made me laugh.
Poputepipikku or Pop Team Epic, is a 4-koma, seinen gag manga that is bustling with intuitive and surreal comedy. With characters dressed as generic high school girls with never changing cute faces, this manga is everything BUT generic.
Being a 4-koma manga, doesn't give much room for a story. Each individual page is a (somewhat) self contained story of head scratching and seemingly random comedy.
The art is oddly fitting for the type of comedy that it delivers. The characters are always drawn with a ":3" face, no matter the situation, which in itself creates comedic situations.

Honestly, this manga made me laugh so much to the point that my stomach hurts, heck I have the strips saved on my phone just because of how absurd and hilarious it is.
The amount of Japanese and Western parody such as Annie, Michael Jackson and Disney Classics such as Aladdin involved reaches out to not just Japanese audiences, but to the rest of the globe (basically not a niche). However, there are some puns in which Japanese might only get and require some Reddit guide but when you get the joke or not, you'll laugh due to the comedy genius and meta humor. This is a ...

This manga is just perfectly fine. it has plenty of content fit for screenshotting and using as reaction images online. it has enough moments i chuckled or found funny, maybe i even sent some panels to friends because i liked them.
but man it's lacking something for me. Pop Team Epic just feels no different from reading your standard 4Koma, the humor is kind of dry and mostly made up of references to things such as Video games *Pop* culture or parodying anime/manga tropes (or in general meta humor). as an example there's a reference about the game Metal Slug, and if you haven't played metal slug the ... |
