tl;dr: A short manga that doesn’t make much sense overall but has some value in being kind of funny.
This manga is really random. For the first two chapters, the protagonist is Kirishima Joe, a top employee at a large banking company. He’s basically just portrayed as an airheaded womanizer for whom things somehow go his way in a comedic fashion. After that the focus changes to Murakami, the top employee before Joe showed up and basically took everything of his. Murakami keeps trying to get revenge on Joe, but fails spectacularly with things just getting worse and worse for him, which is pretty funny. However,
...
at the end of this it’s basically revealed that Joe isn’t just an airheaded jerk but is basically just putting on an act and is actually somewhat heroic. This completely contradicts the portrayal of Joe in the first two chapters where the reader can clearly see things from his perspective, but okay. And, at this point the manga ends, and ultimately absolutely nothing is done with this character change so it largely feels completely pointless.
There were basically two more chapters released under the title Re:Animal Joe that are described as a sequel, but they’re more like a reboot, in that they once again portray Joe as he was during the first two chapters of the original series, an airheaded womanizer, and the events at the end of the original series are completely ignored. It’s also so similar to the original two chapters in that if you read all the chapters at once these two lose their comedy value from them feeling kind of repetitive. Though the big twist at the end of these two chapters is that this’ll actually tie into GTO in what feels like it’ll be quite a bit more significant than a simple cameo, so I suppose Joe will show up there at some point. So overall, the plot and characters are an inconsistent mess that don’t have much value, but the art is nice and the comedy is on point as is generally the case with Fujisawa Tohru’s works, so it’s decent but just barely.
