Both mangas are about jazz and musicians. Also both deal with friendship. If you like jazz and Blue Giant, you'll definitely like Sakamichi no Apollon and viceversa.  

In both blue giant and blue period they have interesting protagonists with very relatable and realistic situations. Even the side cast of character friends are similar. In blue giant the mc pursues jazz and in blue period the mc does art. Both hits very deep and has moments that can make you cry from how much you relate to the characters struggles. 

Touching drama about young adults as they develop throgh pursuing their goal. Both also have quite similar artstyles. 

They both have: _ The main character used to play basketball at school. _ The emotional story about friendship, family bond, and may be love. _ The inspirational music story _ The special art ( I love ).  

The MC pursues his own dreams and objectives regardless of how many times people around him disagree. This is sort of an adventure with lots of ups and downs. *Beautiful how panels are stretched and not per se completely filled with text, meaning you're free to think what he'd do and think about in various situations.  

These two manga has many similarities like they are both related to music, one is about jazz another is about rock, or they both have the hard-working main character who will never give up, etc But the biggest surprise for me is you can literarily hear the music through the manga panel in both mangas. I am not really a jazz fan or a rock fan, but you would imagine how the music will be like. These two are some of the best manga without appreciation. please go and take a look!
