This book is a masterpiece.
Sui's philosophies are dripping throughout, with compelling and believable characters and intriguing narratives.
Ken is a protagonist who is easy to root for. He isn't perfect and doesn't fit into any of the too-common tropes in many mangas out there. This story is the journey of how he finds happiness in a cruel world.
I disagree with many people saying that the ending was too rushed. In fact, I am very glad that Sui didn't drag out the story with more subplots.
The idea that connection is what drives us, and choice is a gift, is beautiful.

Ahhh...
Wtfwtfwtf

So much happened throughout the two installments I can't recall well.

TLDR: Story mixes combat, character psychology and tragedy. Truly heartwrenching when you read it. Not much to be improved in the art. Deep evolving characters with background. Enjoyed the ride, except getting off of it. Read this, it's tragic

This won't be a review in its normal way. Rather, just me spilling my thoughts that are drowning me of grief from the end of the series.

"The sky next to tragedy is a clear blue"

Tokyo Ghoul:re is probably among the most poetic sequels to anything I've ever read, thanks to the talent of Mr Sui Ishida. While the original was outstanding in its own right, the sequel not only parallels and overall enriches it, it serves as a thematic addition that makes it a memorable work of fiction. Without spoiling anything, it takes the tragedy of the original and expands on persevering through hardships.

One major criticism is the amount of characters, which I can understand, however Ishida intended it to be a manga to digested slowly to appreciate each one's ...

Tokyo ghoul re...one of the few manga which i must say, left a big hole in my heart.Even after reading it,i found it difficult to let go of of the world which Sui Ishida has created. That is how much of a impression it made on me,it was really hard and difficult to come to the terms that i have read it and the amount of the emotions which took me were quite overwhelming. Is it a perfect story?Of course its not, as well as the main character himself. He is not perfect,he is a mess.A mess of all emotions he kept bottled deep inside him, which he had to ...

After the fateful battle (massacre) between arima and kaneki Tokyo ghoul re: opens with brand new charachters and a new protagonist, sasaki haise. We now follow the ccg and see the war with ghouls from their point of view.

Story: Three years have passed since the fight with owl/agouti which cost both sides Manpower with both getting new tools to use. The ccg now tries to use part ghouls to their advantage in the war against ghouls.

Chargachters: Many people think re: hasn't lived up to its predecessor and a big part of that comes from the new cast. but I think it does rival Tokyo ...

The story is pretty awesome. Everyone struggles, and that opens up better character development and more plot. However, many tropes are used over and over, perhaps mirroring, perhaps lack of ingenuity. However, I must admit, I can't sympathize for character's pain anymore, possibly due to the ridiculous amount of messed up stuff that has gone on. A stab in the stomach is nothing. Lost fingers, nothing. It has light-hearted moments, and that's nice. Everything set up in TG gets an explanation in :Re. It does, however, have some amazing characters. Kaneki has a ton of development, and has many interpretations, real good fun. The Qs ...

Oh hello there!
This is Tokyo Ghoul:re the continuation of Tokyo Ghoul! What surprises does it bring?

[Story-9/10]
For those who may have been slightly or majorly disappointed with Tokyo Ghoul's ending, here you shall go through catharsis and be completely healed! The story continues after some time when the first left of and things can be pretty confusing. New setting, new characters and goals. What happened? Its just part of the beauty of TG, everything is vague and is yet to be unveiled by you. Many more mysteries to uncover, motives to discuss and of course outcome to see. Gradually things built up one after another ...

If I had to choose, I would choose "THIS". Yes, Tokyo Ghoul:Re is my best manga for two reasons, deep philosophy and characters.

Story: 9/10
The story goes smoothly with minor complications in the beginning due to the introduction of a huge cast of characters. Also, I have to agree that the last two volumes were a little messy as the pace of the story was increased rapidly with every passing chapter to the point where the characters felt they were pulled along with the wave. But as the author introduced the story as Ken Kaneki as the protagonist, I ought to overlook the few mistakes that ...

Warning: this review contains minor spoilers.

First impressions, so one of my favorite manga continues, which I am happy for because the ending was such a cliffhanger and I want to see where the story goes from there because I was very hooked.

Story: 7/10
2 years after the raid of the 20th ward the CCG decides it's time to deploy a new type of anti-ghoul weapon in order to combat the ever present threat of the ghoul terrorist organization known as Aogiri Tree, who continue to terrorize ghouls and more importantly the human population of Tokyo. This new type of anti-ghoul weapon is known as the QS ...

While the anime would receive a high 90 in my opinion not a 100 because of the confusion and anime only route it took along with the plot holes the manga is still a 100 the amazing character development and raw emotion the manga has was absolutely amazing I am writing this review here because I am far too lazy to write a review on the different seasons so I'll do it all here. I THORUGHOUHLY enjoyed the manga one of the bests but the anime didn't do it justice. However I have complaints SPOILERS A HEAD BE WARE SPOILERS

Firstly, THE ANIME IS COMPLETE GARBAGE.
Ok now on to the review.

This is one of the best manga I've read of all time.
There's a lot of people that don't like it, but instead of engaging in reviews, I strongly advise you to read it and form your own opinion.

It's the second part of Tokyo Ghoul (a great but very flawed story, specially in the first half), but feels very different.
It's extremely well written, sensible, intricate and mature. Its themes and philosophy is something I've yet to see in comparable quality in another story.
Considering the large cast of characters, and the main conflict of war, TG:re is ...

Preliminary (112/181 chp)
After 112 chapters, (I followed it weekly) I found like it was time to drop in my own two cents after seeing several reviews that didn't reflect the true scale of this sequel.

At a first glance, yes, it does seem weaker than its predecessor. Some new kid; Haise Sasaki is running the block, and many people were confused and pretty disappointed when Ken Kaneki wasn't returning.

Well, heads up people.

Without spoiling anything, all I can say is Ken Kaneki is definitely prominent in this series, and I mean as a character, not some fading memory like good ol' Rize. It took a while to get ...

!!Possible small spoilers!!

I've been with this series for 4 years now. First introduced via the first season of the anime in 2014 and quickly afterwards jumped onto the manga. The series as a whole has a special place in my life every Monday I'd anticipate happily because a new chapter was about to release. It made Mondays that little bit better.

The first manga was great, truly a wonder to read with Ishida's beautiful art style and watercolour coloured pages, as well as a rich and vibrant world with clues and hints of deeper meanings, sprinkle throughout. The series also commanded a large cast ...

I think Tokyo Ghoul Re: (as well as the original Tokyo Ghoul) is a great example of how 'quality' and 'enjoyment' are not always related. I could criticize a variety of different things from the plot, the characters, the pacing, the art etc with ease, HOWEVER...I still had a damn fun time reading this series!

(I even cried 4 times but we won't talk about that)

BUT, as a queer person, and as a woman, I would like to bring up some criticism on how this series handled it's queer and female characters.

(some slight SPOILERS ahead)

As this is a story written primarily for male readers by ...

All right, time for a review. No spoilers, it will mostly be about my personal experience with the series Tokyo Ghoul:re .

Story - 8
Now, look, like many other people, I've read Ishida's masterpiece Tokyo Ghoul, and then, hearing it will get a sequel, I've started reading TG:re . Now , many of you probably have this question, is the manga worth reading?
I'll answer honestly, if you're a TG or an Ishida fan, you could say it's worth reading.
The story is quite good, I date not say perfect, but it is good, it has real plot, it has twists, it quite keeps you on ...

I love when autors know since the beginning of the story about all of the themes and messages that they will develope throughout the series and conclude at the very end, and I'm sure Sui Ishida knew exactly what he was doing since the first chapter of TG. Everything that TG and TG:re talks about discrimination, violence, hate, empathy, trauma and the value of existence is depicted in it's characters, the story arcs and the visuals. I think that this along with Tokyo Ghoul is one of the most thematically solid and greatly written narratives that I've consumed.
And it's obviously a crime to talk about TG:re ...

keeping this short this is a good follow up of the Tokyo ghoul manga which is much better than the anime (coming from a huge fan of the anime), more details more scenes and more emotion it was nicely balanced however if your going to get into this manga make sure you read with proper focus, it can be hard to follow the transition between scenes and locations so be patience and make sure to double read what you don't understand, maybe its because I'm knew to manga but I didn't struggle as much with the Tokyo ghoul manga when reading it, RE is good ...

First of I just want to say, I love the original Tokyo Ghoul Manga. I will mention my main gripes with this story in comparison with the original TG.

CHARACTERS
RE like the TG had a shit ton of characters. However, unlike TG, a lot of characters were completely meaningless in the story. They didn't really serve any purpose. For example, Touka is completely negligible in RE, she is basically Kaneki's( my G) trophy wife who didn't really do anything in RE. Characters like V, Furata, and Washuu were painted up to be the big bags, but in the end, they did as much as my nan ...

Quick disclaimer

I read Tokyo ghoul: re first instead of Tokyo ghoul just because I had more volumes of :re, and I had already watch the anime so I knew what was happening, so my review may be a bit iffy bc I read :re first.

Story: 10/10

This story is a amazing tragedy, after around chapter 60 this manga just completely started getting amazing, I loved Rose’s character ark it was absolutely amazing in my book, when a ark came along it was just… amazing!
The fights were just extraordinary.

Art: 9/10

This is one of my personal favorites, :Re dunks on OG Tokyo Ghoul so easily and I can't understand the oppoiste take. This might contain SPOILERS ig??? Also I might make some mistakes here and there.

Protagonist (10/10): Kaneki must be one of my favorite protagonists in fiction, he is on par if not even better written than Johan himself. His dynamics with Furuta (main antagonist for :Re), Mutsuki, Arima and even Touka are so good. His visual characterization is phenomenal and the way he portrays escapism through Haise is extremely well executed. Obviously Kaneki/Haise is still an identity crisis lmao 💀

Antagonist(s) (10/10): I'm really ...
