Preliminary Spoiler

In the 10 years of my life of reading manga, I have never encountered one with such absolutely pathetic characters. Don't get me wrong, the idea was good, but the characters were so underdeveloped and the obstacles the heroin had to face were so horribly thought out, that at one point you have to think "What obstacle will they throw at use now? Will it be that the girl can't be with the guy of her dreams because he's a blonde? Oh, the horror! Society shall never approve!"

I'm one to complete my manga's, since I've learned through the years that sometimes manga's get better ...

Okay, so I disliked this story so much it prompted me to write my first ever review on this website. I truly do not understand how people could have given this series such fantastic reviews. While it's true that I was only able to get through 5 chapters, it just goes to show how bad this story was.

I'd first picked up this manga because I'd heard such fabulous reviews, and I was looking forward to it since I've been binge readings historical themed mangas recently, and this was next on my list. But my god, I could not get through it.

First, the story is horribly ...

THIS REVIEW CONTAIN SPOILERS UP TO CHAPTER 13.

I honestly don't understand why are so such wonderful reviews.

Well, I was looking for a historical manga with a great romance, but all I've seen in Red River is hilarious. First of all, the female leader: WHY? I don't understand her actions. Okay, she's 15 yo, but in the thirteen chapters I've read, nothing changed. Not to mention that, apparently, Yuuri forgets everything around her first love, or her family because the male leader. Yeah, she wants to be with Kail, but they fall in love in what? Two chapters? Their relationship is ridiculous and without fundament.

I want ...

Considered a classic and with rave reviews, I was excited to read such a lauded series. Yuri, a Japanese middle schooler, is dragged by an evil queen through a pool of water as a sacrifice to ensure her son's ascension to the throne. Barely escaping death when Prince Kail makes her his concubine, Yuri must escape Queen Nakia's schemes and adapt to life in the Hittite Empire (a powerful empire neighboring Ancient Egypt). Far from being a damsel in distress, Yuri's prowess in war and combat leads her to be revered as the goddess of war, Ishtar. Although wishing to return to her family and ...

SO disappointing, first manga I've ever dropped!! Every single recommendation came back to one manga: Red River, after having read Akatsuki no Yona and Legend of Basara and considered them 10/10s. I was excited for what people described as another tale of an epic heroine overcoming battles and finding her strength. This could not have been further from what this manga is.

Having read Yona and Basara, those mangas constantly follow our characters along their journey of just how hard it is to even learn how to wield a sword, a weapon, to kill or be killed, to witness death and disease. This story COMPLETELY ...
