Saikano (Saishu heiki Kanojo) is an outstanding story of love, hope, war, despair, and companionship that takes places in a post-modern era. With a divine mix of modern realism and futuristic science fiction, Shin Takahashi brings a fanscinating world that envelopes the characters of the story with both light and dark elements.

Following the romantic relationship between Shuji and Chise, Saikano's story of a love-time story shows the complications of being apart when togetherness is the most important key of survival. While a bulk of the story is a sci-fi war story, the real focus lies on the struggles Shuji and Chise overcome to realise ...

Let me start by saying I consider Saikano to be the best manga I have ever read. A nearly perfect blend of seinen and shoujo, sci-fi and drama, I picked Saikano up on a whim with fairly low expectations and was honestly consistantly stunned by its quality.

Story 10: Most of the negative reviews I've read of Saikano seem to revolve around this category. Saikano is a war drama, it is a sci-fi, but by far its focus is romance. And this is where it really succeeds. Rarely do you see a true romance epic, but I cannot think of a better term for Saikano. From ...

I've read this manga long time ago. And recall that their is no feeling for them.

One of my friend comment this to me as he know I love to watch drama movie/anime. And even enjoy some action manga with drama fused with them. I read this manga thoroughly and find nothing...and even thought hey! they begin to cry too much

The Story is rather interesting at first. Poor girl who became a weapon...but they try so hard to make us sympathize with the girl and her boyfriend. And try so hard to make us cried. But I found this huh? It barely move my heart and ...

This manga is beautiful and terrific, in the archaic sense of the word. It is largely a slice of life tale, but with an overarching theme of, well... I'll leave that for the reader to find out.

Story: 10

The story is extremely well put together and told in a way that doles out information on a need to know basis, while tossing out little tidbits of what is yet to be told that tantalize and, all too frequently, leave the reader with a hollow feeling in the pit of their stomach that is commonly known as dread. Meanwhile, it tends to take a lighthearted approach much ...

Well, let’s get the disclaimer out of the way first. Generally I try to avoid spoilers in my reviews, but with this one I'm really going into a lot of details of the story, so if you want a spoiler-free experience the best I can say is to scroll all the way down, check my last paragraph, where I write my overall thoughts, and see if that interests you or not.

I want you to follow my experience with the first chapters of Saishuu Heiki Kanojo, or Saikano, in the oficial English translation, as I went into it pretty blindly. I knew it was a 2000's ...

Saishuu Heiki Kanojo or SaiKano was definitely ONE OF THE BEST Manga I've ever read so far it was beautiful and terrific, it was incredibly well written and spectacular, it was emotional and marvelous, I could go on and on on how I liked this manga but I ran out of vocabulary.

How am I going to face any other manga now after reading this... This manga was an emotional roller coaster, I never liked any other drama genres out there but there are few that I really liked and SaiKano was one of them that I GENUIENLY enjoyed reading.

(I apologize if my English is ...

I read this a few years ago and i still look fondly towards it to this day. I'd Give it a light 9 (9.3), i could go in to Details but if i do ill end up writing a 3 page review, so ill give the quickie on it. the emotions that these characters convey are so real in context of the story; that you can feel those emotion yourself when your reading it. that's probably the thing i like about it the most. The art complements and enhances the story, and is just wonderful in its own right. The dialogue and interactions and ...

Mixed Feelings
I bestow upon this manga the award to "The Most Confusing Manga I've Ever Read", and yes, I really mean it. Saikano ringed a bell to me so I thought I would start reading it, since there was the whole collection in a nearby library.

Saikano is about a rude boy who starts dating a good-for-nothing girl, their names are Shuuji and Chise respectively. Now, the twist comes when you learn that Chise is a human mass destruction weapon (pretty obvious when even the manga's name implies it) and that Japan (if not the whole world) is in a constant war, being Hokkaido (the region where ...

tl;dr: An impactful story about a relationship that's always painful, but always manages to keep a little bit of hope.

This is a manga that is really emotional and can be both happy and sad, but it isn't an emotional roller coaster at all. It's just persistently both happy and really sad at the same time from beginning to end. It's a sad story, though not in the sense of being despair inducing, but rather something that is continuously making the reader feel heavy hearted. Pretty much of all of this stems from the relationship between Shuji and Chise. There's more to the story than that, both in terms ...
