Harems are a dime a dozen in the world of anime and manga, portrayed as the ultimate male fantasy and often played for laughs, it’s a trope that is riddled with issues while not portraying polygamy with any real accuracy beyond gratuitous sex. For some, polygamy is an alternative lifestyle that can be fulfilling and painful for others.

Polygamy has been a vehicle for numerous abuses all over the world, and it is generally misunderstood by many that see it as free reign to cheat on partners. The truth is, there are committed polygamous relationships, but rules are set by those within the relationship in the ... same way that they are set by those in monogamous relationships.

This series is pretty large, spanning nineteen volumes, the reader follows the ups and downs of a hare-kon family. In response to Japan’s declining birth rate and low marriages, a pioneering town decides to make polygamous marriages legal. With this, the readers are introduced to a marriage between a man and three completely different women, each one representing some favored romance tropes. Despite this, Hare-Kon faces the question of polygamous relationships head-on, showing the absolute worst sides of this kind of family set-up along with the joys and kinship that is possible with a large family.

To say that this series is frustrating is an understatement, there are many issues with the way that the story is presented spearheaded by a husband that is unabashedly detestable at times. Ryuunoske could be charming and funny, but he is also extremely selfish and manipulative. Koharu “falling in love” was also extremely weak, she goes overnight from hating that she feels forced into a sham marriage to suddenly deciding that her unhappiness must mean that she’s jealous and in love.

Understandably, reactions to this series have varied wildly with many people swinging from hating characters to loving them. Honestly, what made me keep coming back was the gorgeous artwork and a genuine interest in seeing if the series actually goes anywhere. It starts off extremely weak, but the middle volumes become stronger and even enjoyable with some genuinely heartfelt moments. Despite the issues, many of the characters are engaging whether they are likable or not, and the author did a marvelous job in stirring up conversation about harems in the medium that glorifies them the most, an achievement in and of itself.

though I oppose polygamy(and the opposite) act but this manga really gets me into it aside of my views.

the story is not about typical harem manga stuff, the author really describe polygamy in women perspective, and since the women who encounter this situation is the MC, whom an individual, asexual(?), tomboy girl, the story went awkward, but rather become funnier somehow lol.

another thing that catch my eyes is the CHARACTERS, OHHHHH the author were too goood for this one.
its not moes*it, its a semi-real creatures we were talk about, its a rare thing to see cute, beautiful ladies pairing with long haired cool cooling ... stubborn boy(who really resemble me to a visual kei bandman lol) in a seinen manga as far as I know

gotta admit this manga was a black sheep among the harem genre.
from the illustration point of view, this surely an incredible manga, and for me the writing is not that bad after all the ups and down the story has to offer.
the concept of this realistic harem is really good the biggest flaw i see in this manga is the rushed final arc. it doesn't have much context needed and the whole who's Rin father is a bother. but over all i think this manga is a whole lot better than the average isekai harem being animated every season.

first of all the title itself explains it all so dont go expecting a vanilla story out of this. I like the manga the author stirs a lot of emotions in you as a reader, it may not be a story to your liking but i can tell you it is a very well written manga! Its one of those manga that once you read you cant stop, you get sucked on the story and sometimes even relate to these characters plus the art is absolute divine! You see the title already so you know what your getting into so stop crying and complain about ... it LOL

At first, it was very weird for me to be reading a story pro-polygamy, but with time that became the most ok thing in the plot.

Madoka is terrible, her character is easy to hate and when it comes to her arc and you get her side of the story, you'll think "oh well she had a rough time", then she leaves her clearly unhappy marriage and will finally live for herself and that was great, it was sort of a redemption arc.

When Joe comes into the story you'll start to think you understand where this is going for, Madoka left, Yuzu will leave with her ... baby father AND old love, and Ryuu will be with Koharu only, but Yuzu decides to stay and honestly, it was still fine, not what I was rooting for, but it's ok, I think the relationship between the 3 of them is still better than with Madoka.

The thing is, Ryuu loves Koharu, the whole manga you can notice how he feels different towards her comparing to how he feels towards Madoka and Yuzu, and that's because they both have story together, but he had so much trauma that he just got everything in his life twisted. You see some character development in him as the story folds, then he throws everything in the air when deciding to cheat on his family with MADOKA. At this point, I just wanted him to have a miserable ending.

When Koharu leaves it STINGS, Ryuu for the first time realizes something, all the flashbacks and memories he has with her hits him, like he said, "what you gave me was happiness", but the author for some reason still wanted to keep the whole "polygamy good all the time" thing.

So, Koharu now lives by herself with memories shattered by her unfaithful ex-husband. It hurts. I cried a lot. Then Koharu decides to come back.

She decides to come the f*** back. To her unhealthy relationship, and Madoka comes back to, so now you have two women on an unhappy marriage, because even if they get used to it, they will still feels the same at some point. The only one who ends up on a good spot is Ryuu, he is now comfortable with having women willing to to anything because of him.

After all, it's a good story, it doesn't have to end like I want to in order to be good. I agree that some things are left unsolved, some other things feel weird, but still, you have characters that feel real, jealous, filthy, happy, sad. I don't like the ending, but I like the manga, it made me feel something and I value that on a story.

First of All, this is my first time read about harem manga about polygamy issue

in Japan. Altough the conflict about a family and the husband that has a

problem of did'nt work for the first. It alright, I just read the ending of this

manga. It a bit rushing, but that is fine. Yuzu the first wife is good wife with

perfect body size, madako the second that had issue with youu and had

... divorced and accpet him at the end and the MC girl as the third. Family always

has a problem . This manga also has also his own plot twist. Now, I realise,

hare-kon or polygamy is bad for marriage instituion because it has tendency of

jealousy, divorce, husband did'nt work and depend to goverment money

I finished reading this quite soon so I will be giving my opinion in the following paragraphs (spoiler warning!)

Story:7
Dislikes:plot holes...like why make Madoka seem like a psyho who just wants Ryu for herself only for her to come back to the very same house she said she cant come back to?What was the point of those 20-30 chapters that she was gone?I would have liked it much better if she gave a specific reason as to why she hated Koharu so much.I do think its hinted but a more detailed reason for it would have been nice indeed.Also why leave every time when something is ... troubling you when you can tell Ryu or the others and not just deal by it yourself?

Liked:i liked the pace of story and how the relationship between Koharu and Ryu changed so much from the begining and just over all it was enjoyable .

Characters:

Koharu (dislikes):at first she really irituated me so much with her bratty attitude and not knowing how to appreaciate the fact that Ryu and everyone helped her by paying the debt and selling the house because of it.Her actions were childish at the start and the way she behaved ..like blaming Ryu for not working when literally she did the same thing

Likes:even though she annoyed me the most I am really proud of her character develompent ,she even came to the point of defending the Harekon system in front of others while she herself has also hated that very same idea.Not just that but she became more open to say what bothers her and tried to approach it somewhat more reasonable instead of acting on a whip.

Madoka
Dislikes:the fact that she followed Ryu everywhere and worshiped him as a God..was not needed.I just wish that they didnt add that part where she acted like she wanted to destroy everyones relationship just to have him to herself,it made no sense...also more backstory surely how Ryu proposed to her and why?for what reason he did that?

Yuzu:
Likes:Yuzu is my most favourite character and probably the most mature one along with Madoka.She is just perfect in every way ,knows how to do everything mostly but I like how she is open about her feelings in most cases and how she helped Koharu clear things up with Ryu ,just like a big sister to everyone in the house.

Ryusuke
I think he acted decent to all three of them ,but of course by no means he loved them in the same way.Madoka -platoniclly,Yuzu-sexually and Koharu-romaticly at least thats what I think .He did show his love and do his best to make it seem like he cares for each the same but we can see that is not the case when he says that Yuzu can go and sleep with others but Koharu cant as well as the chapter when he was supposed to go and be with Madoka ,he stayed so he can be with Koharu or when he broke the rule and sleept with Koharu even though it was Yuzus night with him.All of this just shows that he cared for Koharu much more then the others but they need Madoka and Yuzu who somehow balance their relationship and make it seem .

Art
Not much to say here except that the art was the first thing that cought my attention and made me read more and more as time passed by.

Overall do I think its a masterpieace ?No but its worth reading and giving a shot because why not do so?

Reading the manga, the only way I kept myself till it's ending was because of some characters, other was story isn't that good enough. Let's talk about good parts first, at most it's art style is special, a full marks for me. Author had done great job drawing in detail. Sequence of character intercourse and dressing designs are very unique. For art it's 10/10. Another good part that kept me into this manga was character of Madoka and Joe. I stayed till the end just to see how those are going to end. And it was disappointment on Joe's part.

Plot of the story is fair ... compared to other managas in same category. Based on acceptance of polygamy in certain northern town of Japan. It's character were bit off, seemed they don't particularly hold any ambition or to anything for progress. More of Normal Hyman's daily life. Plot has a Sorry ass Harem king Ryo, who somehow manages to pick up girls and do intercourse with them for no reason, a slut like woman Yuzu, who later get matured after pregnancy and a self centered girl Koharu. These character particular do nothing in the progression of story, rather behave like side character and only time they behave like protagonist is during the night. Plot is mostly dependent on side character like Yuzu's father, Koharu's parents, Urara~chan, Misuzu and Joe. Side characters basically progress the atoryline. Cause their interaction lead to the participation of Date family in plot.

And finally, my favourite characters Madoka and Joe. They both are pretty progressive and hold the back to the story. I feel bad for both, as both gets betrayed by some fool girls, who are more into Harem king Ryu. It's great that Ryu changes through the storyline after the departure of Madoka. But overall Joe and Madoka are backbone of the story.

Overall 7/10 for me. I know it was time wasting for me by storyline, but you will definitely enjoy the art of the plot.
