Dragon Head was in its element when, following an earthquake, three people found themselves trapped underground after their train derailed, surrounded by corpses. Where as DH's characters don't stay underground for more than a few volumes, Metro Survive's tale of survival starts and finishes with its character underground. The two are different, as a result, but to begin with the feelings of claustrophobia and panic expressed make it easy to link the titles. (FYI, DH goes to shit after its early earthquake/train drama.)

Both manga are about people surviving after a big earthquake and the good and bad in human nature that reveals itself after such an event.

Both feature the characters trying to escape from the aftermath of a large-scale tragedy, with various psychological elements present.

Although stories of these manga are completely different (apart from the fact that both of them deal with extreme survival situations) both of them are quite short and have the same feeling of urgency and desperation at times. I'm sure that if you enjoyed reading one of them you'll enjoy the other too.

In both mangas a group of people experience a catastrophe and end up in an isolated environment... then starts the game of survival.

Kaiji and Metro Survive both put normally stifled and weak everymen into do-or-die situations which allow their character to shine. Also, there is a lot of "heartlessness for the sake of survival" in both.
