First of all, B.O.D.Y. was one of those mangas that I was never planning on reading. But one of my friends shoved it in my face and told me to at least try it. And once I started reading it I just could not put it down.

STORY: At first the story started out like all the others. Girl falls in love with boy. Boy likes girl but there are problems with their relationship. But then, this story took off and became very interesting. More characters were introduced and surprising things happened that you would not expect. Cheating, lying, laughing, crying... the characters made the story ... perfect. Because of the personalities of the characters, the story was interesting. I don't wanna spoil anything, so that's all that I can say. I mean, host clubs are interesting anyway :)

ART: First I must say, I am sooooo jealous of these characters' clothes. They always dress sooooo amazingly! The only thing I must say I did not like about the art is that there didn't seem to be amazing drawings in the smaller boxes. When the art took up a whole page, it looked AMAZING. And don't get me wrong, the art was good all the way through, I just think that some of it could have been worked on a little harder. I also noticed that often the main character Ryoko is drawn with this stupid expression on her face, even when it shouldn't be like that.

CHARACTER: This is where B.O.D.Y. excells in my opinion. The main character is very well-rounded. Ryoko is naive but yet she will not let herself be walked all over. Her lover, Ryu, is my favorite character. He is that shy kid that no one is friends with, but he turns out to be someone very different, someone every girl falls for at the host club. He is HOT! Three other characters are later introduced that are VERY important to the story, and they really are also well-rounded characters. That whole "I have a tortured past and I'm trying to be better than that." idea.

ENJOYMENT: I laughed while reading this manga. I mean, it really isn't meant to be that humorous I don't think. But at some points I did laugh. Near the end of the story I did cry. Yes, I cried... I don't usually cry while reading a manga, but it was sad. And this story is something I can totally relate to.

Overall, I have to give this a perfect 10. They should make it into an anime :)

The story sounded good enough in the summary so i picked it up. A girl who falls for a boy who is at first seems like a good shy boy but actually it's all for appearance and he's working as a host after school.
But this is all. Just an interesting concept. After this is all used in the first volumes your left with a very typical boring to death story. About all kinds of love rivals and exams and typical things. Nothing really new. This manga even not trying to refresh something. And no, to take the typical settings for shoujo and put ... there a host club isn't really refreshing.
Maybe the problem was with how the story was told. he just felt so unrealistic and i couldn't relate to it at all.
One of my biggest problems was the characters, they was so flat ,stupid, and childish. I wanted to bang my head against the wall every 5 seconds while reading it. The main character was like "oh i seen a nice guy im in love with him" and 5 seconds later "oh here is another nice guy i guess im in love with him now".
And then she goes and pokes her nose into business that not related to her. Why? because of her nosy nature? or maybe because the mangaka couldn't come up with something better?
Also the art isn't that good especially in the first 2 volumes. It's not that bad. Just very simple and all the characters look almost the same but with slightly another hair.
Really tried to read it but i guess its an age issue.
Maybe if you are in the fifth grade you'll enjoy it.

I found this manga on MAL and it seemed interesting. I've been reading manga for years and just recently I've turned to MAL to find new ones.

I really wanted to like this story to be honest, but I hate Fuji. I straight up hate his character. I'm a fan of the whole scarred past, and the bad boy thing still I can't make myself like him.
He's immature, both characters fall in love way to quickly to be realistic and it seems from the very beginning that she is wrapped around his finger and will just blindly follow him anywhere. (think Naruto to Sakura, and ... why I hate her too.) He doesn't do a thing for her, he doesn't try to understand her.

He puts her in situations knowing she'll be insecure, and then he gets mad and leaves her. Seriously! Screw him.

Now I didn't just drop this manga, because I can't stand Fuji it is also because I want to root for Kura. I can't continue reading this knowing that in regular manga fashion she will end up with Fuji. I won't stand for it and in such I won't support this manga, because Kura is awesome and Fuji sucks! I have no idea why the artist made Fuji so detestable and Kura so sweet and supporting, but I won't read to the end and will satisfied with the image of Kura getting the girl that I delusion myself into creating.

B.O.D.Y. was a manga I never planned on reading, but after completing Ouran High School Host Club's manga; I was looking for something host club-related and at first, B.O.D.Y didn't disappoint. I really liked the artwork, the story was shaping up beautifully, the characters were likable, and the writing funny. For the first half or so of the first volume, I was interested,and like any otaku, or otaku-in-training, I read the manga everyday.
But after a while, I find it became a bore, and I, personally, began to find myself reading for the sake of simply not wanting to drop it, something which happened anyway.
Ryoko's ... feelings toward Ryu shift a few times in the beginning. Her attraction to him is the first thing that comes to the attention of the reader. She shifts a while later to almost tsundere like behavior before returning to her premier feelings to Ryu, which, to be fair, could be due to the fact that she is shocked at his occupation as Club B's highest earner. This, sadly, is only in the the beginning and then, although the artwork is great and the story line as well, the writing falters and after a while, I fear, the talent of the artist may not be enough to keep one reading.

I really wanted to read this manga about four years ago, and I can definitely say that my 16 year old self would have probably enjoyed this manga a heck of a lot more than my 20 year old self. I understand that it is shoujo, and, thus, I am probably outside of the target audience. I still felt disappointed with it.

The story started out promising. I liked how the protagonist guy, Fuji, was a nerd-by-day and host-by-night. Deception is always fun in manga. Even the lead female was enjoyable at first. She would literally punch Fuji when he was being a jerk, and she ... only cried whenever he seriously hurt her feelings.

After the first volume, everything went downhill. Sakura, the lead, became a crybaby who was Constantly sticking her nose in other people's businesses. She also felt the need to keep things from Fuji which served no other point than to create unnecessary drama.

Then Fuji completely changed. He was a cute, kind of jerky, host boy, but it was fun to read. About eight chapters in, he loses all his personality. He has no identifiable traits besides that he loves Sakura and is somehow always around when she is in trouble.

The art is the only redeeming quality for this manga, and even that was nothing note-worthy.

If you are looking for a typical shoujo with nothing new or insightful, pick this up. Otherwise, I would say pass this one up.

B.O.D.Y. wasn't what I was expecting from the synopsis. Not at all. The story was put together really well. Every thing flowed together as one, there were no choppy points where one was left going "hmm.. what did I miss here." Which is wonderful. It has growth, complication, laughter, tears, a twist here and there and a well done ending, which to me can make or break a manga.

The characters were great with a good depth to them. They weren't super deep to the point were you had to take notes, and they weren't shallow. They were kids learning about life, love and heart break. ... The female lead is smart and stands her ground pretty well. The male lead is a little dark and closed off (just waiting to be opened up), the supporting characters are a lot of fun as well. While reading this you were growing up with the characters, you felt for them and cheered for them.

This manga was a great one to me. It was real and a true romance. I felt the happiness, the unease, pain and confidence of all the characters. It did not disappoint me in any ways. I strongly recommend this manga to any one who likes a little romance, some laughs and a well written story.

Ohhh boy where do I begin...?

First off, this is not a bad manga. If you compare it to your average shoujo romance where the two main characters have a misunderstanding that leads to a break up that leads to millions of chapters where I try not to yell at these silly teenagers for being ridiculous, then B.O.D.Y. is actually one of the nicest shoujo I have read so far.

STORY 7/10

Again, it's a shoujo manga so the most I could be was pleasantly surprised by the story - I know a lot of people like drama drama drama, but so many times that leads to ridiculous ... misunderstandings that could easily be solved if the two mains just Talked To Each Other And Stopped Making Assumptions Based On Their Insecurites.
B.O.D.Y. was a nice change of pace. At first I thought I wasn't gonna like where it was going - I was fully prepared for a ditzy girl who falls in love with a seemingly boring guy who then is revealed to be a flirty non-committal host. More on the characters later though as this is for the most part a character-driven story.

Now time to really confess.
The two leads, Fuji and Sakura (and I know this might be a bit hard to believe as this is shoujo) ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE AND AVOID FRUSTRATING MISUNDERSTANDINGS. Take that Bokura gaita!!! >.<

They both are still insecure and innocent - the latter is less so for Fuji - but it wasn't so overwhelming that I couldn't finish the story just from how convoluted and boring a temporary break up has the potential to be.
Having a misunderstanding created out of nothing, followed by the main guy LI coldly telling the girl they should break up without actually discussing anything beforehand is a trope that will make me drop a manga immediately.
Thankfully the characters in B.O.D.Y. were its saving grace.

Sakura is straightforward, easy to read, and for the most part very honest. She also isn't insecure to the point where she has zero trust in her beau. When she's conflicted about something, Fuji can figure her out pretty easily and before you know it they've discussed and resolved an issue that a lesser manga would have dragged out for another ten chapters.
It was very satisfying to read about a couple with an actual good relationship where they TRUST EACH OTHER and that trust isn't conveniently thrown away for plot purposes.

They still have arguments, and there are even misunderstandings but nothing was ever overused to the point it was frustrating to read.
Plus, the side characters AKA the friend group was very good. There was a small conflict between Sakura and Asuka, but asides from that Sakura's friends are very supportive.

Enjoyment 9/10

So I got to chapter 12 and I realized that rather than me just having started reading this as a way to procrastinate, I was genuinely enjoying reading it. I enjoyed the light humour, the same romance story that we've read so many times but with different characters, and especially the main leads who I didn't at any point during my reading yell at.
I enjoyed the ending, it was cute and I'm always a big fan of time skips - I like seeing everyone's 'happy ending' or whatever.
I really want more characters like Fuji and Sakura >.<

OVERALL 9/10

I'm just gonna end up going off again about how much I liked Fuji and Sakura's relationship so I'll stop here. Definitely a manga that you shouldn't overlook ^^
