Kara no Kyoukai and Notes are early Kinoko Nasu works. They are good examples of his signature writing style of non-linear, mythology heavy stories with interesting characters spouting their philosophies at any given chance. Notes. is more dense and even comes with a sort of glossary to keep track of its lore while Kara no Kyoukai helps the reader understand the lore better over the course of the books. Kara no Kyoukai has aged better but both are very much worth reading if you are a fan of Kinoko Nasu or of philosophical works of a supernatural flair. 

Very short novels that show new pieces of nasuverse. They novels excell at creating and presenting a new setting within the limited lenght they have, creating an interesting story. In both, humanity faces some kind of crisis and the novels center on relationship between a lone man and a girl of nonhuman origins. 

Humanity faces extinction and nearing apocalypse. Alien entities are attacking Earth. Not as an army, but as a small number of individual entities, each one with different properties, each one spelling doom for Earth if they are not stopped.
