While the settings of both manga are different (one is set in Japan while the other is set in America), there are two commonalities between them - the fact that there's a detective that takes on extremely unusual cases, and that those cases are often solved at the end of the chapter itself. So if you're looking for episodic mystery/supernatural cases that are solved, you can definitely pick up either of the manga.

Both manga feature dedicated specialists who work for free on supernatural cases (usually involving ghosts) in order to help those affected by those supernatural entities. Most arcs/mysteries are episodic, so if short supernatural mysteries interest you, pick this manga up!

Both have an unusual, mysterious protagonist with supernatural abilities who travels in order to find and help those plagued by otherworldly troubles. Mononoke deals with a single case (although the anime it's adapted from has a wider variety of incidents) whereas Mail has a case per chapter and Mononoke is more of an eerie brand of supernatural fantasy while Mail is straight-up horror, but if you like series with freelance supernatural detectives, both have you covered.

They're both great horror manga drawn by the same artist. Also, the main character from Mail makes a guest appearance in Kurosagi.

Both are horror manga about ghosts, neither of them actually have a plot, mostly every chapter is about a different ghost and the interaction with the people around them(most of the time),the only difference between them is that Mail has a main character and the ghosts in Mail are banished from this world, set to rest by him.
