I’m rather a bit unsure whether or not the story to this is actually complete or not. Since only CH 43 is the final one that most websites have translated. I hate to assume that it’s the end but just in case I will leave this as incomplete for now.
Onto actual business, Sora ga Haiiro Dakara is a manga that follows no main characters and has a new short story every chapter. So it doesn’t have a real story or plot that it follows off of. Instead you’re of course like I said, given a short story with different scenarios and characters, so because
...
of that there are no real “main” characters. Also it’s a different short story every chapter, kind of like a “Monster of the week.” format. Sometimes you’ll meet some of the same characters; that’s mostly with the little bonus chapters though.. besides that, if I recall correctly. It’s always new stories with different characters and their life and problems.
When it comes to these short stories, the most interesting thing that gets me every time is how relatable and down to earth they actually are, these stories don't depend on fantasy or anything similar to that. Instead they create scenarios that one person might actually be going through themselves, or maybe the reader would’ve gone through something similar. That’s what makes the little stories interesting just because of how realistic it actually can be. Because they’re not just fun little stories but they actually portray people’s problems and mental issues in real life, and use the art as a way to show it while still telling a short thoughtful story.
What's even better about making the stories realistic or relatable situations is you also make the characters in those stories relatable too, if you have gone through what the character has, then you already feel close to them or understand them in a way. Not so close but, it’s more like, “Hey! I understand that.” So that immediately solves the no main character problem right away. You don’t need main characters anymore because of this little factor. Other stories like Nichijou follow a very similar concept. Following Four High School Girls and their life but making it more funny, and they actually have main characters. It’s rather a very clever way that they wrote it out and how they executed it.
The manga and its stories in particular tackle a lot of things too, society, how other people feel in certain situations, other people and their point of views. The more you read, the more you understand and actually see what they’re talking about, not only has the reader probably gone through the same thing before. But of course this manga uses art to capture those characters' feelings and expressions in those situations and make sure you really get the point. I said that earlier but the way they do it is unique and rather somewhat interesting to see. Because maybe they even captured some of those feelings perfectly. They’re simple stories because they’re just normal common situations that people find themselves in, and it focuses on that and goes into depth about it a bit sometimes.
Besides that there’s really nothing else to say about this Manga, the art is unique and fun to look at. If you’re not really into short different stories and you just need a main character to follow. This isn’t for you, and if you have trouble staying committed. This one also might be difficult to get into.
But I enjoyed reading this the more and more I read, and found myself attracted to the art and little stories they told, that again are simple problems but using the art to express and show how people feel in those situations sometimes.
I would recommend this if you have some free time, give it a go and see how you feel.
8/10.
