According to Mangaupdates, this manga is based on a light novel 10 volumes long, while this manga is 3 volumes long. This series also has 8 OVAs for S1 and 4 OVAs for S2. This review will be based on the 1st 10 chapters of this series, I will watch the OVAs soon.
Added: Synopsis: The original plot is a killer angel comes to find a guy to protect him, as well as distract him from his studies. This is cos he will become somewhat problematic in the future and the angel wants to prevent him from turning into that in the future, in a way
...
to save his life.
Story:4
The story is really strange. Some girl pops out, cause a lot of trouble, then suddenly she becomes a protagonist. And so on... but till chapter 10, the storyline has been very shallow and I can hardly understand some parts as characters suddenly do incomprehensible things and scenes seem to jump here to there.
Not to mention this manga is adapted from a novel, it's with so much fanservice and gore that can't be explained. I really do not like the idea that the main guy keeps getting killed then revived by the girl who was supposed to protect him. ESPECIALLY WHEN assassins are coming from the future to kill him. Qn is: why even try? Just revive him again and VOILA! End of story lol.
Not to mention that characters are being left out frequently. For example the horned girl and Shizuki, can be gone for a few chapter. At the beginning the romance potential is very high, but later after it seems that the main guy changed the person he likes Shizuki seems to disappear, no explanation whatsoever, and in some scenes you would think "The big break is coming!".
Art:6
Not too much good scenes to flaunt art. Emotions shown are too average, and some pages are quite low on detail. I simply blasted through the panels as most of the art is not so impressible. But it does not affect the understanding of the story most of the times, except a few times.
Character design was ok, as well as costumes.
Character:4
Most characters were described in a shallow manner. I couldn't even understand some of them at all, and sometimes their actions are shockingly unlike them.
Even the main characters were not really developed and a lot of actions and strange stuff they do were unexplained. What are the powers Dokuro has? What does Shizuki really feel about Sakura chasing after Dokuro? Ok, I know she is a baka, but gimme the details pls =.=.
Most importantly, none of the side or main characters really left a deep impression on me, as there weren't much deep storyline occuring between them. Most of character interactions seem to be carried out jokingly, even the serious parts.
Enjoyment:3
Loved the unique setting in the beginning, and the very funny introduction. The intro started with the main guy dying lols. But then it ran downhill pretty quickly. A lot of unrealistic happenings, unexplained events and actions.
The romance could have been presented much better, and the interruptions of Sakura's confessions seem a bit too well-timed. And it occurs so frequently the surprise factor was gone the second time.
Too much cliche and fanservice. Using a spiked bat to kill someone then reviving him is ok, but dun do it too much. Reminds me of TnZ S2 anime, the fanservice.
Overall:4
For it's creativity I wanted to give it a better score but I realised that by the end of 10 chapters I could see why scanlators decided to drop this series. It started off well, but then suddenly there was some unexplained harem and everyone who wanted to kill him ended up being friendly with him, why? Ask the mangaka.
Ok, time to see if the OVAs are better. Pls drop a comment in my profile page for any comments abt this review. Thanks!
