I must say I felt so blessed when I was recommended this manga.
There are about 3 4 stories making up a whole volume but I will only focus on the first story - 1996's summer holidays.
Man I'm head over heel with this story. It's just perfectly absolutely my type!
On the first day of the summer, 4 women gathered at the Yamamoto's house. They were all there due to a letter from an ex boyfriend, Hiroyuki Yamamoto. It turned out he left the countryside for Tokyo a long time ago to pursue his dream of being a successful musician. There, he met the 3 biggest loves
...
of his life, whom he never forgot until the day he died.
At his house, the women cheerfully ate and slept and talked together. Although it was all the trivial things about their mutual ex boyfriend, they always gently smiled and comfortably lent each other an ear.
Each story was gradually revealed. Sad, regretful, heart-breaking, silly, crazy and nostalgic. Be that as it may, Hiroyuki is still their forever love.
And upon the final story, at the point where their memories collide, Hiroyuki appeared the last time for all of them to say goodbye. Goodbye to their regret, leave the sadness behind so that they can live on.
At the end, the 3 women who came from Tokyo went back to their present home. The left the 4th girl with a hopeful future.
The manga is short and the panels are sometimes messy, which would make you lose track of the events. But it's still a silent classic to me.
"Ah, the men are silly."
"They sure are."
"Because no matter what happens, women always continue living."
