If you've read the synopsis, you should get what the manga is about. Kiibo is the heir to his family's martial arts technique (a technique which is not renowned to the world).
Story 9
The story is not so unique. Kiibo is a student who wants to be the strongest fighter in the world and he is ready to fight whoever is labelled that. The story just depicts his struggles as he faces different obstacles in the form of other fighters with different fighting styles. He is trained by his father in Nadashinkage-ryu (family's martial arts technique).
Art 9
The art style is a bit old but
...
still great. For me, it is definitely not falling short of recent fighting mangas to be honest if you consider the timeline which it was created. The fight scenes are well-depicted and dialogues are well-shown, gory scenes are shown but are handled very well. You won't be disappointed or have anything to complain about when it comes to the art style.
Character 9
Koukou Tekken-den Tough has its fair share of characters with different background. The main character is a driven student who strongly believes in never backing down even with death staring at him. He is a stubborn, really funny character who is willing to learn new techniques to defeat his adversaries and also a character who draws people to himself. This is a fighting manga focused extremely on fighting. So the characters backstories are not shown too deep but it's just enough for a reader to understand where every character is coming from and what drives them to act the way they do. The psychology of every character are explored and character development is involved.
Enjoyment 10
Trust me, if you're a fan of action-packed and mixed martial arts, you will definitely find this manga interesting. I am surprised no one has written a review on this manga considering how awesome it is. In my category of fighting mangas, if you consider Holyland to be great, Koukou Tekken-den Tough is on the same pedestal (but that's just me).
Overall 9
Not bad for my first review huh, the fight scenes are something to look forward to. The laughs from Kiibo's funny faces and actions. The interactions with his friends and families. The things he says just to poke an enemy's weakspots. Oh man, Koukou Tekken-den Tough is a real great. If you ain't satisfied with this, well jump on the bandwagon of readers to find out what more you want. Cheers!
