The story revolves around 15 year-old Midori, who has been adopted into a family where she has served as a replacement for their deceased child, Reika. I can't say much more than that without spoiling it, but it's an interesting plot overall. 9.

The art was very realistic and detailed. The mangaka does a really good job with showing emotion through her drawings, and with expressing the darkness within the characters through their faces. 9.

The characters were okay in my opinion. Midori's character was quite well-developed and realistic, but Tokio seems too perfect at times. The other characters were about average, with average development. Character backgrounds ... were well done for the most part, however. 8.

I enjoyed this personally, even though I'm not too big of a forbidden love fan. The characters' backgrounds got me, though. 8 for enjoyment.

Overall, I'll give this manga a 9, for a unique plot with characters with well-developed backgrounds, as well as realistic art. Even if you're not a fan of manga involving "forbidden romance", you might just enjoy it.

It starts off really well but it's really no different from watching a Kdrama, especially near the end. It's rare for a shoujo manga to explore PTSD and what it means to be a victim of sexual abuse. I can see its place in the shoujo timeline.

But it gets ridiculous when the protagonist has to rely on her two love interests to save her every single time. It's highly overdramatic.

For younger audiences, I think this would be an important read. It's a rare older shoujo that borrows a lot of tropes from Hana Yori Dango, which was in the rage at the time, such ... as: rich in-laws threatening to pay off the protagonist if she stays away from their son, classmates as bullies, and rather helpless girls that solely rely on their love interests to do everything for them. I guess that was in the rage back in the day, but comes off as just dated and old fashioned.

Quite honestly, I would give this a nine, but I cannot and will not condone plagiarism. Even though it was only a few panels, it was enough to cease all publications and cancel the English release. However, it is very honorable that Suetsugu-sensei did not deny the usage of other manga for Eden no Hana.

I found the story extremely engaging, and really made you want to read even more, which was exactly what the author had intended. At times, though, some of the drama was unnecessary. That is a problem that is commonly found in shoujo manga- Obvious attempts to make you cry can ... be slightly annoying at times. As a person who's cried hundreds of times reading manga, it's hard to phase me after so much experience.

As for the art, I found it beautiful. Without the plagiarism, I would give it a nine, but there are just some things that you can't change. That said, the panels were very well thought out, the character designs are attractive and memorable, and the splashes and the 2-page color spreads were absolutely beautiful, and definitely usable and great for desktop backgrounds or phone lockscreens. Everything was very pretty and nice to look at, and I simply love Suetsugu-sensei's style. Shoujo generally can have either beautiful or ugly art, and this is definitely one of the beautiful examples.

There were a lot of... Questionable changes in Midori's personality over a short time frame. I understand that after Tokio and Hashiba coming into her life, she's bound to change, but that raises the question of- Does it really make sense for the change to happen so quickly? After being traumatized by several permanently scarring events in her life, she's introduced as someone who doesn't like to interact with other people at her school, and doesn't really care about her life or other people in general. A few chapters later, she's able to talk to everyone and SMILE with no issues at all. You may not agree with me, which makes sense, because even I'm not sure if I agree with me, but I feel like the changes were to sudden.

I highly enjoyed this series, as it put me through a lot of conflicting emotions, and really really recommend Eden no Hana to both newcomers to anime and manga and veterans. Shoujo lovers, especially, would be about to tell that this is a diamond in the rough full of you cliche, shitty, shitty characters and storylines.

Overall, it's a beautiful manga that will take you by the hand on a wonderful journey, but also feel conflicted about the whole plagiarism thing and whether to give it a high score. Although I gave it a rather mediocre score of seven, it's probably something I'll remember for a while.

Eden no hana is a very addicting series. This manga is about a character who got adopted by a household who doesn't love her. And her estranged brother comes back to rescue here. Originally i thought it would some slight drama sibling love story. But dear god this manga is just on full blast the entire way through. There is literally 0 stops in this manga. Every chapter is just more insane ... than the next. Like you'd think 'oh finally its ok now'. NOPE. This manga just doesn't stop and partly because of that i just couldn't stop reading.
Now i don't think there were too many badly written characters in this series and those that were were minor despite being a major part of a characters life. Whoever with the exception of like 4 characters everyone is like out for blood. Trying to make sure something goes wrong. Its hell. I liked the FMC and MMC and liked how the author made there relationship both romantic and platonic (at least at first) but the consistent tension was also gut wrenching.
Now the FMC suffers from PTSD due to sexual abuse from her previous household. The story really isn't about brother was household. but more of her regaining her life again. And i enjoyed these parts i like how the author potrayed but at the same time from other series i feel like it was also kind of glossed over. She is saved basically by 2 different men both just trying to save her
The crying scene are also just spectacular. The buildup to it. the emotional depth when it happens. Its just tears you apart.
There is levity in this series. But it would've worked if there was more that way when everything does fall to shit it would have more impact. I think the ending was pretty good too though i would've liked a bit more of the relationship in question. Overall i think this was a very addicting series. The author paced herself barely but everything was out for blood. The main characters were likeable. and the series was fun but im never reading this series again. 7/10

This was such an emotionally draining piece of work without respite for the reader or its characters. It is overly dramatic and unable to stop itself from dangling doubt in whether the protagonists are blood related while the female lead deals with her trauma and her high school classmates who are out for blood. It was notable that Masamune, a convenient character that handles all the leg work, head scratching, eye-straining, financially depleting and strenuous legal affairs that happens in the background, was used to steer clear of the logic that could've added something..anything to this series. Still, all of the characters feel like one ... dimensional half-baked pawns in a nauseating mediocre shoujo manga.
