I actually don't know what to write about this. I liked it as a read but not so much as a story.
"Grasp" is the thing produced if slasher movies and psychological horror had a baby, but just in manhwa format. Its just that the child looks a bit off.
The story started good, interesting use of psychological horror in the beginning, but as the story progressed, that horror got more and more confusing, to the point that all it boiled up to in the end was a chase between Tom and Jerry but just a little more spooky. We were curtained from some major plot points
...
and were left hanging, expecting things to be explained later on in the story, but our expectations were repeatedly cut short. What's with the fixation of all those people about the female lead? Why was that hulking monstrosity after her life? Where were all those people following her before and why are they all coming now? Too many questions to ask but few got answers. Events which I couldn't understand, were left like that. Relations between the characters went underdeveloped, even a lot of characters went underdeveloped themselves . Half of the them felt like dummies thrown in to just populate the world and make it feel more spooky.
But hey, I liked the love story. In a situation as dire as presented in this manhwa, even a small bit of a romantic aspect can feel quite rewarding. I liked the romance, cliched but nearly everything is a bit of a cliché nowadays anyway. The male lead (or are there any male lead?) or I should say the lead's boyfriend was a character that I liked. The characters I think were average, except the female lead. I intrigued me for some reason, I mean her character design was interesting. But the author cut her potential short by attaching a weak story to her. Same with lot of other characters. Not that their design were interesting but the personalities and stories attached to them made them even more confusing and worse.
About the endings, while I like happy endings and I liked this one too, but its just felt so out of place and random. I was saddened about the events happening at the end but when the happy event took place I was taken by surprise rather than joy.
The author went for the minimalistic black and white approach with the artistic style and it worked well, must I say.
At last I liked it as a read but I am not sure you will like it too. If you asked me to sell this manhwa to you, all I would be able to say about its redeeming features would be good art, good character design of the female lead and decent psychological suspense horror. And if you are convinced then pick it up for a read.
