Honto Yajuu is a silly Yaoi smut series about a hot-headed uke that's part of the Yakuza and his super adorkable seme that's a cop. The story is super simple and it mostly focuses on the relationship between the cop and the yakuza member. The couple is super cute and silly. And the smut is really good from what I read. The main couple's sex scenes are funny and consensual. I recommend this if you want some cute and funny yaoi smut.

You'd probably over look Honto Yajuu as just another yaoi manga. We all know the ones that have "one-sided" love (when they both love each other) and the cutesy scenes between the two for like 20 chapters before one of them confesses. Then a few chapters later it's like the end. This can't be defined as Honto Yajuu.

Story line/Plot (9) - Honto Yajuu, or Like the Beast, is a yaoi manga published by Yamamoto Kotetsuko. It's about the love story between a policeman, Udea Tomoharu, and the yakuza (basically a mafia member in Japan), Gotouda Aki. Aki meets Udea during a weird event, and the ... next morning confesses his love straight away. The two begin a very different relationship, but wait, shouldn't a cop and a yakuza be enemies? Yes, and they don't care though. Which makes it all the more interesting. It's also very different like I stated in the first paragraph which draws the readers in more. It isn't that fall in love sort of story, which Kotetsuko is great at. The story is about being in love and all the weird quirks that follow their courtship. Aren't convinced yet? Really, well keep reading and I promise you'll be hooked.

Art (7) - Like any good TV show, or movie series, it takes time to begin to really understand, and do justice to the characters the creators have made. For the first few chapters of Honto Yajuu, Kotetsuko is getting in the hang of drawing our lovers. So the art isn't as good as it will become in later chapters. Speaking of later chapters, Kotetsuko is really getting them right, but like any good artist they're are faults. There are little awkward scenes here and there while some as just absolutely gorgeous. She also portrays Udea and Aki well for what the other thinks of them. Aki as an adorable and beautiful yakuza while Udea is the sexy and handsome cop. The sex scenes are good and pretty accurate (if you've read enough fanfiction and manga/anime to know). They aren't too explicit, but they are pretty revealing. So if you get offend by that please don't make it stop you from reading the manga. Another thing is don't skip over it since there are important bits in the sex scenes. Overall the art is well done, and the pages nicely put together.

Character (7) - Let's start off with Aki, our yakuza, and surprising the adorable little uke we all are in love with (you'll understand once you read it). Aki is a fierce, and bold guy since he off-the-bat confessed his love. Yet he can be the lovable and sweet uke. Though he's oblivious to this himself which makes him all the more when he yells at Udea for calling him cute. Our handsome cop, Udea is caring and just plain out friendly. with. everyone. Since he finds everyone interesting, he became a cop. This is one of the reasons he can deal with Aki and one of the things that can drive Aki crazy. Other than Aki in Udea's life, he's pretty normal. Yay! We get to talk about Senpai now! Senpai, going by the honorifics, is obviously older than Aki and Udea, yet he still lives in the police dorms without a girlfriend. He's one the few straight men in the series. Senpai gets along with Aki and Udea, but makes fun of both of them and thinks they look like a couple (he doesn't know they are though). He can be considered the comic relief character after things they a little heavy because of his teasing. The relationship between Aki and Udea is well played out and cutesy. Though the both of them can get jealous (Udea always has the better reasons though). That adds drama and a little bit of humor on the yakuza's part since he never has any good reasons for being jealous. Still reading this? Well, it's almost over, so you better finish this review up and go read Honto Yajuu!

Overall (8) - Overall, your review, would have to say the manga is just simply amazing. From the storyline to the characters, you'll really love it and it's something different! The art goes well with the characters and personifies them fairly while the story makes you just want to squeal and die and be a crazy fangirl. Aki, Udea, Senpai and the others are lovable from head to toe (also they'll all pretty nice on the eyes). The enjoyment you'll get from this manga is purely wonderful, you can't ask for much better. :)

I'm sorry I'll be a bit biased here.

Honto Yajuu is simply----- cute. F*ck man, I don't know what to say about this manga besides cute. This literally has 'cute' written all over it. Everything in this manga is just cute. Wait, have I mentioned that this manga is really cute already? Looks like I haven't. So yes, this manga is freakin' cute.

Story - This is a BL-- *coughs* pardon me, yaoi manga. So it's about a guy falling in love with another guy and do sexy things together. Compared to other yaoi mangas I have read, Honto Yajuu has the lightest, cutest story. It's pretty ... much about our two protags, Tomoharu and Aki's (sex) life. Not quite as complicated and as heart-breaking as other yaoi mangas, but still intriguing. I love how the story gives me a really warm feeling.

Art - The art could probably the best point of this manga. The art is really clean and simple, like those in shoujo romance mangas. I really love the art, especially the cover art. Every single one of them is awesome, I saved them all. Now I'm having a hard time picking which I should put as my phone wallpaper.

*coughs* And also, the /steamy, juicy/ scenes are drawn well, I guess. (I'm too embarrassed to look at it straight, because they are all so cute)

Character - I especially love Ueda Tomoharu, he's an adult with a really calm and composed personality, but can get jealous at times. He's able to cook, and he's really gentle. But he can get really aggressive when.... when.... when doing /it/. Basically, he's every girls' dream. Too bad he's a yaoi manga character.

Gotouda Aki is also a really cute individual. He might seem scary at first sight, but believe me, he's extremely cute. Like, freakin' cute. He's the reason why this manga is super cute, aside of the fluffy art. Even though Aki might seem the most aggressive one, saying blunt lines like "let's f*ck!" or "i'm gonna jump you", he's----- he's cute. Okay. He is cute. That's all I've got to say.

Enjoyment - F*ck yeah, I really enjoy reading this manga. As I stated before, reading this makes me really happy. This isn't the manga that could get me bored. It's freaking cute with tons of cute scenes.

In short, I really love this series. I really recommend it for everyone hunting awesome, but sweet yaoi mangas to read!! Too bad I've filled all 5 of my Favorite Manga spot here in MAL. Or else, I would gladly put Honto Yajuu as one of them.

Like The Beast (Honto Yajuu) is my favourite boys-love manga to date. The story revolves around the relationship between Tomoharu Ueda, a policeman and Aki Gotouda, a yakuza member. It's got adorable and likeable characters, brilliant art, an interesting storyline and enough cuteness to make any fujoshi squeal.

Story: 7/10
The story centres around the romance between a policeman and a member of the yakuza; two groups who would be typically see each other as enemies. Despite this, the two men begin their relationship as they learn more about each other and the lives of their new lover. The story's points of tension and adversity are always ... really interesting and enjoyable to read, and never feel forced or too unrealistic. Comedy is a large part of the writing, and I found that it was always very well done; not too forced or over-the-top, just genuinely funny. The relationship between Tomoharu and Aki becomes almost unbearably adorable as the story progresses. Their interactions are so damn cute it's hard to not smile when reading.

Art: 8/10
The art for this manga is fantastic. I really love the art style the mangaka has, as it really lends itself to the subject matter at hand. It's always very consistent, visually appealing and SO DAMN CUTE. In particular, the character designs are really great and suitable for the genre. And as for those occasional lewd scenes; the art is just just wonderful.

Character: 8/10
The characters are the driving force of this manga, and they are truly captivating. The protagonists are really fleshed-out, and undergo quite a lot of development as the story progresses. Tomoharu Ueda first appears to be a model policeman; very intent on following rules and helping other people out. However, when he meets the chaotic Aki Gotouda he discovers another side of himself. Aki is a member of the yakuza, and certainly acts in such a way. He wears outlandish suits, often is involved in violent escapades and is generally harsh and unfriendly. Somehow the two men seem to compliment each other very well, and grow closer as their relationship progresses. Their interactions will seriously make you squeal with just how cute they are and act towards each other. In addition to this, the side characters in this manga are also really great. Each of them have very distinct and unique personalities to them, and none of them are tired archetypes. The characters really are one of the strongest aspects of this manga; you can’t help but love them all.

Enjoyment: 9/10
I freaking love this manga. It’s an adorable romance with likeable, gorgeous characters, plenty of drama, a bunch of sexy lewd scenes and some of the most hilarious comedy I’ve ever come across. I would highly recommend this manga to any fujoshi, or simply anyone who wants to read an adorable love story about people from very contrasting backgrounds.

Please read this manga. It is one of the cutest stories I’ve read in a long time, and is simply so enjoyable. Do yourself a favour and pick it up - I promise that you won’t regret it.

This is personally one of my favourite manga. Despite the concept that could have so easily sunken the work due to stereotypical themes, it is written extremely well. The art is very aesthetically pleasing, and the humor is something almost anyone can enjoy. The characters are made to be realistic, despite the plot being far-fetched. Aki has clear faults, but is unapologetic for them. He can be incredibly selfish, and not just when vying for his lover's time, as is so common. All the characters are ... easy to relate to in some way, shape, or form, and this is something so often said about manga that is so rarely actually achieved. This manga is not just a good 'yaoi' manga, it is a great manga for anyone (of a mature enough age) to appreciate.

Just a really enjoying series overall - the characters are so incredibly like-able and refreshing, the story is simple but well paced and FUNNY. You actually get to see a couple interact as a couple and grow together, the few moments of drama are sincere and not just an excuse for angst. The main couple are so engaging (Aki is a personal favorite), and the side characters bring a lot of life to the world. The art style may not seem spectacular, but it fits the characters and the tone to a T.

Just a really great read. 100% recommend checking it out, you won't ... regret it.
