Synopsis

Despite being adjacent to one another, Chidori Public High School and the all-girls Kikyo Private Academy seem to exist in two different worlds. While the latter boasts an immaculate reputation and favors students from wealthy backgrounds, the former is a nest for dim-witted delinquents. Everyone at Kikyo harbors a deep hatred for their Chidori neighbors.

Sixteen-year-old Rintarou Tsumugi is a student at Chidori whose intimidating face leads people to avoid him. Rintarou pays no mind to this, as he is content with his group of friends. However, there is something he has not told them yet: sometimes, he helps out at his family's cake shop.

One day at work, Rintarou sees a customer at a table, but she runs off before he can talk to her. The next day, he receives an apology from the girl, Kaoruko Waguri, who explains that she did not run away because of his appearance and that she believes Rintarou is a kind-hearted person. Although he is not used to Kaoruko's bright personality, Rintarou looks forward to forming a friendship with her. There is just one obstacle that stands in his way: Kaoruko is a Kikyo student!

Preliminary (139/? eps)
The hype is indeed valid. The art is gorgeously sublime. That said, when it boils down to it, the drama is a bit weak and average at times. I would say it’s more slice-of-life than drama, so far. I definitely got invested, but it took a bit to get there. The art also makes up for anything that the story might be lacking.

The premise is honestly a bit misleading, and the school rivalry doesn’t exactly play out the way you might expect it to from the synopsis. That’s all I’ll say about that without delving into spoiler territory. It’s certainly what threw ...

Preliminary (12/? eps)
its alright. to be honest my review may be a little biased because im not a big fan of the shonen demographic. it isnt bad per say, but it isnt good either. its a good read if you just want a heartwarming story without anything complicated happening but it isnt for me. the story isnt anything unique or new (maybe expect that whole being divided by schools thing). the artstyle was nice. i didnt really enjoy the characters, though. while everyone loves waguri she just seems like the overly naive type which just annoys me. the manga has the classic situations like something bad happening, ...

This series is the definition of mediocre. Giving it a 1 star isn't really accurate I'd say its more like a 4 but it really annoys me how hyped up this manga and its future anime adaptation when it brings nothing other than good art to the table.
The plot is repetitive and really cliché
The characters aren't unique or relatable and they are overall quite bland. None of them seemed especially unique and all of them seemed super dry.
The romance doesn't really make sense and it barely progresses throughout the series (chapter 10 is the same as chapter 100)
Overall it lacks anything special or even above ...
