Flame of Recca reminded me of Yu Yu Hakusho instantly. The two have so much in common. Both the main characters are like exactly the same. They're both unbeatable guys in their schools who come into a great power. Both Yusuke and Recca can be rediculously funny and stupid but can completely bring it during a fight. Doron and Kuwabara and nearly identical and Tokiya and Hiei are very similar. The story lines are also very, very similar to each other. Both stories deal like the supernatural and both have large turnaments dealing with humans and inhuman beings alike. If you like one, I can guarentee that you'll like the other one. Without a doubt. Don't be put off that they're both a little on the older side. Two great, amazing stories. read more 

Similar fighting series with a supernatural-superpower angle, similar protagonists and supporting casts and even plot structures (gotta love those tournament arcs). 

How'd I say? The battle scenarios are pretty much the same, competing for a higher goal, two sides, turns, etc. Bored but liked Flame of Recca? Here's my recommendation! 

Both by the same mangaka. The main characters both have similar principles, in the way that they view their friends. Both Ginta and Recca fight for their Hime's (princesses), are aiming towards beating a strong enemy, gather a group of strong people, and fight in tournament-style fights. The antagonists are also organized in similar ways in both series, with ranks. The Madogu and the Arms are also very similar in the sense that they are different and weapons. Both characters' relatives and friends are similar as well. 

RK and FoR are both written in the 90's and are both the same genre, so the storyline is similar. Both have a silly main character who's serious when he needs to be. Rurouni Kenshin is based on legend, and Flame of Recca has historical references involving the Hokage, so they both have sort of an old-style feel to them, even though Flame of Recca is set in modern times. Both main characters have the ability to make friends with their enemies, who help out unexpectedly. They are both longer than average series, and both include the slapstick and crude humour that is universally found entertaining. Oh, and both of the stories' main characters, Kenshin and Recca, have a scar on their left cheek. XD read more
