The style of the drawing has some similarities. Both are dark, Gothic and very atmospheric. Besides, in both series, main characters suffer strong emotional trauma and thus get involved in the world of evil, which appears to be all around them.

Both are lavishly-illustrated series starring heroines imbued with supernatural abilities, whose mission is to exorcise demons hidden inside pieces of beautiful art (such as paintings, jewelry, etc.). Each story has its share of fantasy action and complicated romances. The only major differences are demographics: Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne is a magical girl/shoujo series, March Story is a seinen fantasy/horror tale.

Both stories' conflicts force the protagonists to conceal their genders in order to remain safe from deadly, often horrific supernatural foes. Because of this, the series have moments gender-bendy humor, and more so, complicated romances.

Both have similar aesthetics, as well as leading characters that blur gender boundaries.

The creatures named as 'Ils' looked like the 'Shinigami' / 'Devils' in Defense Devil. The artworks is similar as well.

Both have a girl with "dark" powers who seals the demons/monsters. Both are dark stories with a touch of gothic.

Both stories revolt around cursed objects which give powers to their respective owners. In Re:Birth - The Lunatic Taker Similar, the objects are expensive items that are found lying on the ground when the owner death is near. They turn into weapons to aid in battle once they accept the contract. In Match Story, the objects are foreign items that are are possessed by Ills (creatures that lurk inside the most beautiful materials), they attract people with their shapes and glitters to possess the next person that will touch them and turn them into violent beings.
