I haven't read an extremely large number of manga in my life, so this isn't exactly the most profound statement, but Our Blood Oath is easily the worst manga I've ever read.
Absolutely appalling. Even with bad manga there is always something about it that was redeemable - something about the authors work that you can see being a foundation to build upon with their next work.
I feel bad for this mangaka but my god, it is truly shocking that they were given a chance in Jump at all. Their art is awful - well below what should be acceptable in non-gag manga in Jump.

Im not much of a Shounen guy. What caught my attention about this manga is the fact that this is currently the 22th lowest rated manga on MAL. It begged the question: Is it that bad? Well...
If I have to describe My Blood Oath in one word, that would be milquetoast. The characters aren't all that interesting. Their personalities are pretty one note. There also isn't much mystery about the two protagonists to pique the reader's interest since pretty much every bit of information gets told about them in the first chapter. It's not the worst manga I've ever read, but if that's the best thing I can say about it, then you know it's not a good sign.
The story is generic at best and outright stereotypical at worse, and of course, due to having gotten axed, there's not really a satisfying ending. Because of the axe, the majority of the story, unfortunately, is setting up for things that will never and can never happen. There was definitely concepts that had potential within that setting up, but the story wasn't cohesive enough to prop itself up. Things happen much too fast, then another random concept gets thrown ... |
