Character design and art is definitely similar. The transformations are great though the storytelling is a little bit different. The MC leads a difficult life due to being stronger than other 'mutants' based on genetics or lineage or a program. <> Kouya ni Kemono: the MC is on his own, Gusha no Hoshi: the MC has comrades <> Kouya ni Kemono: the MC can transform without other items, Gusha no Hoshi: MC needs an item to transform

MC can transform into a beast with sharp claws at will.

- mc gets "infected" at the begining against their will - both stories tell a story about humans relationship with nature (wilderness and plants in their respective story) - Both series have action, however, the art is superior in Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu, but might be slower in terms of pacing. Both mc's are also involved with the military and scientific research related to that infection. Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu: also leans towards more of an adult audience and contains some nudity.
