Yajin Tensei is a little like what you would expect an isekai with functioning humans to be like. An average guy who learnt some karate is transported to another world, shenanigans ensue. Two things though, make this piece stand out to me as something more than just your average isekai manga. For one, it's heavily subversive, and comedically self-aware about it. Don't expect waifus or harem's here. The world more than anything else resembles the kind of gritty darkness of Berserk(though it never goes full on dark) than it does arifureta or shield hero.

More importantly, the author understands the genre he's writing for extremely well. ... Yajin Tensei is an adventure story, first and foremost. It's a picaresque novel in the vein of Tintin or Raiders of the Lost Ark. It appeals to the exact same sentiment as One Piece would. It's not a work of great depth, though there are occasional moral ponderings by our main character. It's an extremely fun story to follow along, and it handles the subject matter well. And in a sense I have little else to ask of an adventure novel than that. Would I reccomend it? Absolutely, one of the best written works of genre fiction out there.

I read thousands of manga stories but this one is in TOP 3 for me.
I feel a lot of those low scores are very unjustified and hasty, many current reviewers just some brats or idiots who bitch about art and other stupid shit even when they read only a few chapters, give low ratings and lazy reviews.
Make no mistake, Yajin Tensei is one of the most realistic and interesting isekai out there. The author clearly knows his stuff.

The MC is a human from modern times thrown into a vicious cutthroat world full of monsters, be they humans or otherwise. He is thrown with ... nothing in this new world and by grit and wit he manages to survive the perilious encounters he faces on a daily basis. Through his efforts and adaptabilty he manages to etch out a living and gain skills and precious help. All actions have consequences and the story flows naturally and logically. No plot hole until now.

The characters, albeit slightly undeveloped compared to our complex protagonist (he actually has morals and feelings after killing his first person ), have all roles and believable personalities. There are NO OVERDONE CLICHES. They all serve a purpose and have their own independent lives and for most of them the MC is only a traveler, someone who comes and goes. Skill, experience and items matter a lot. Even the monsters are interesting and engaging, not some brainless things with the only explicit purpose to destroy. Some actually plan and think and use strategy to win over their enemies.

The world is fleshed out slowly and it correlates to Yajin getting stronger. The more adept he is at surviving in this world, the bigger the obstacles and the more dynamic and messy the things happening in the background. The longer the adventure, the more fleshed out the lore and world of this manga.

The art is very beautiful, not the best, but it manages very adeptly to convey the feeling and atmosphere of the gritty circumstances that surround and influence our MC. Fights are very well done, the faces are very expressive and the backgrounds are actually fitting for a medieval setting.

Truth be told, this would deserve a 9.5, but because I feel the score is too low for it's quality I shall give it a 10, given its potential and my own expectations of it. I will buy the English version when I get the chance. I would read it all in one sitting if it was completed.

If you want to know whether to read it or no, JUST DO IT. It is absolutely worth a read if only to see how it compares to other cliche-ridden, unrealistic, copy-pasted, long-titled, harem-gathering, bland isekai stories full of fanservice, wish-fullfilment and cardboard cutout characters.

I just finished the 39th chapter and this one is a rare gem as an isekai fantasy.

It's gritty. The style reminds me of Vinland Saga, but it's not really historical. No waifus or harem fantasy. There's a preponderance of mood that settles somewhere in the sphere of dead serious. The faces/emotions are deft, with subtle comic relief. Excellent drama. I suppose it also reminds me of a modernized hardboiled style.

This one isn't very fluffy but it does provide a terrific escape from my reality which contrasts with the typical isekai fantasy fare, while remaining rooted well within the genre.

Realistic. Grounded.
From all these Overpowered isekai mangas and animes this is exactly what I was searching for, Realistic. Struggling to level, expected real emotions of a person. Human nature in a harsh society.
The story is mostly on the survival side, with no grand goal for the protagonist. Art is neither a masterpiece nor a garbage. The protagonist has a kind heart at its core but can do anything for its survival. Overall relatable protagonist.
The fighting is great. The writer did his research on martial arts doing this story.
Overall, I highly recommend it if you want something close to life.

The story is simple its believable and it still manages to throw curveballs at you but with very REAL reason behind it. The MC does what most of you would likely do in the situation and i like that, it's a breath of fresh air. The MC isn't dumb he isn't a genius he makes mistakes, but they are 100% justifiable mistakes, I've seen far too many isekai anime where the MC is straight STUPID and ignores clear signs.

The only real reason i can see for someone disliking this is the art style. It starts off very simple with not much detail in either ... character or background. once you get to the 2nd part its very noticeable that they have put more detail into everything. If you enjoy the story up to that point, then there's no issue.
Another thing is the progression of the story. A lot of the time Yajins only priority will be survival, and a few goals will be pushed in front of him and its nice seeing how he tackles those issues. The pacing is very good you'll never feel like something is taking too long, if anything you get left wanting an extra page just to linger on the feelings more.

All in all, the last 10 chapters I've read have been the best of it, but that kind of sucks. Right as the writer and artist are going crazy, I catch up xD.

Yajin Tensei is good but not great, but it has the potential to be great. The pace of the story and storytelling is great. But it is severely held beck by the art style. The world feels like your looking at in through a magic ball at times, with some parts of the page being full of detail and life but the background literally just being blank with no attempt to fill it in. Now there are sometimes in the manga where this works really well to show the emotions of the characters, but most of the time it just feels lazy. To sum it ... up if the manga didn't look like a half finished canvas it would probably be an 8/10 but at this time I'm going to put it as a 6/10 solely for the storytelling being as good as it is.

Another isekai manga, another day.
This one shows our protagonist without any particularly good skills, other than karate which he trained on earth, transported to a forest in another world.
The story is still developing but a nice twist on chapter 6 makes this manga have some potential.

The MC isn't anything special, but he is likeable. He doesn't do anything you wouldn't expect a normal human to do in his situation but also has a few comedic factors.
It's always nice to read a manga which doesn't go instantly start with OP protag with every skill.
Expect cliche from this manga, and this does cliche well.
