The Kaguya-sama doujin operates on a very strange level of quality. Initially it starts off as an ero-comedy going solely for shock humor. However, it eventually takes a turn into wholesome content and solid storytelling in certain chapters, ditching the ero content almost entirely. The second half of Doujin-ban makes the experience a positive one in the end. While I wasn't having any fun scanning the first 11 chapters and being subjected to out-of-character perversions of characters I hold very dear (Kaguya-sama is my favorite anime after all), reading through them ended up being worthwhile in the end as the kindergarten arc and other chapters ... actually made me genuinely smile. It's just a MASSIVE hill to climb before you get there.

This is a non-canon spin-off manga based on Kaguya-sama: Love is War.

Now, because of the title and description you might think the purpose of this manga is the ecchi fan service, it's true, but only for the very first chapters, after that it ends up having the same idea of comedy that we can see in the main story and the ecchi idea disappears almost completely.

The story is composed by:
- Parodies of general knowledge stories or scenes we saw previously in the main manga.
- "Romantic" development between characters (fan service for the ships the fan base love).
- Alternative storylines (something like filler).
- Short stories ... that can't be added to the main story without making no sense.
- Short stories that for some reason didn't make it to the main manga, even if they can be canon.

It's a good fan service manga. You can have a good time reading it if you like Kaguya-sama: Love is War, so don't drop it because of the ecchi in the very first chapters. Of course, you should read the main manga first, you will find spoilers if you haven't read enough of the main story.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai is one of my favourite manga of all time. So naturally, when I heard that there was an official doujin, I simply could not not read it. And I do not regret it a single bit.

The story in Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban is crazy to say the least. Initially, I thought that this manga would simply be the usual daily life shenanigans of the characters of Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai with a lot of ecchi scenes. However, that ended up not being the case, and it started bringing the characters into alternate timelines, where they aren't the high school students we all know. ... To put it simply, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban has an incredibly crazy story. By bringing characters we know from the main series into situations that would be impossible in the parent manga, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban creates a story that's fun and hilarious for people who loved the original. However, it is also important to note that I did not enjoy some of the stories in this manga. There were some that I really loved, and others that I just thought were fine, although I loved the majority of the chapters. In other words, the story can sometimes be inconsistent in quality.

The art in this manga is very good. The characters are drawn properly and the author finds remarkable ways to draw the characters as different versions of themselves, which is both hilarious and creative. Obviously, I do not wish to spoil how the author draws the characters as different versions. But I'll just say that for some characters, simply looking at them was able to pull a few laughs from me.

Surprisingly, the characters in Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban are quite faithful to those of the original series. And that can only mean that the characters in this manga are absolutely fantastic. Accompanied by the fact that many characters are different versions of themselves, I was quite impressed at how the characters acted in ways that would be natural for them. The characters were fun and hilarious, and were the main part that made this manga so fun.

I definitely enjoyed Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban. As mentioned above, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai is one of my favourite manga. As someone who enjoys the original manga, I really liked reading through this manga, bringing all the characters I loved and telling parody stories about them. I highly recommend you to check this manga out if you're a fan of Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai. You are sure to have a fun time reading the crazy stories this manga has to offer.

I love the main Kaguya-sama manga, so I had to check out the spin-offs, too, and Doujin-ban is definitely the better one of the two.

It presents itself as a slightly erotic doujin version of the main series, but it's not only that, really, there's a bunch of different stuff thrown in there. A lot of the chapters are short comedic standalone stories, but there are also some that are connected.

In the first half of the manga, most chapters focus on trying to be sexy, but they're really hit and miss. Among them, the best ones are those that focus on comedy instead of trying ... to be lewd and nothing else. The second half of the manga starts introducing some multi-chapter stories that are much better than the stories in the first half. That's also where the weird fairy tale retellings start, but more on that later.

The best and longest part of the manga is the story about Shirogane and Hayasaka working in a kindergarten and getting to know each other. It's a cute romantic comedy story and the characters are portrayed very faithfully to the original manga. Hayasaka was always one of my favourite characters of the main series, so I was glad to see her getting more screen time.
The worst chapters of all are the ones that retell famous fairy tales with characters from Kaguya-sama. Those are uninteresting, unfunny, pointless and there's way too many of them.

The art is fine, all in all. The characters look cute and have a bigger emphasis on their sex appeal than in the main series, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

All in all, this manga is a mixed bag of all kinds of stuff, but for a fan of Kaguya-sama it might be an enjoyable read.

Just a quick review. I think the title with a doujin word refers to a doujin like full of fanservice, but this spin off manga doesn't show much fanservice.

I think from the lack of fanservice, it's not quite right to call it a doujin.

The whole story in the spin off this time in my opinion is like the main manga which is filled with comedy with a bit of fanservice (which is getting less and less). For the character design itself, it's good not to change.

Overall, I think this spin off manga is quite interesting to read in terms of a simple story, although not ... much different from the original manga.

At first glance, it may look like an ecchi with heavy emphasis on lewding the characters, but this manga isn't super focused on that with only a couple chapters being really considered "ecchi" and the rest being just being the adventures of the Student Council and the other characters. It is fairly similar to the original in terms of the comedy and art and although it doesn't add to the main story, if you really enjoyed the original manga and you want to see more of the characters, then this ... is a nice read.
